When I, as an adult start to want to learn more about the Bible and its teachings, I read a ton of books for kids. They were easier to understand and provided a good starting point.

Me here trying to adjust to Kaitlyn calling Esau "doctor" for 20 minutes. Sometimes we forget these virtual family we routinely listen to are often doctors. As Kaitlyn herself will soon be!

Somehow Mary never gets the centrality that she deserves. Every one wants to talk about Marry and Martha that one time Martha was feeling busy and rushed and seem to not want to talk about the rest of her life and her centrality to the gospel story.

I think terror is a reasonable response to the random, inscrutable violence of the god of the Hebrew bible. Why should someone think his son would be any better?

Or maybe the better question is how Jesus' nonviolence fits with the Old Testament view of Yahweh. Especially if seeing Jesus is seeing the Father. You might like to read "Cross Vision" by Greg Boyd.

It's not random. God really does not like when the poor are mistreated. That's why Sodom was destroyed. That's his huge rant in Amos 4. That's the whole point of Isaiah 58. It's the whole point of the law. It's why Jesus over turned the money changer's tables. Why Jesus destroyed the temple. Matthew 25 spells it out yet again. We think of "evil" as anything but what it was and then act shocked that there are consequences that have been consistent forever. Don't oppress people. Take care of the poor.
