What I know of the OG Titans there was an internal issue that It make It to not continue, then why a parody can? Because Is not "teen Titans" Is "teen Titans go" a loophole also show as young justice and teen Titans are too expensive like one of the strategies of Disney xd to litigante this Is to only release 2 seasons AND then cancel the show AND just repeat and repeat the same 2 seasons

I am not overly impressed by either but Go reminds me of Dexter's Lab in it's art and humor. It's very self aware and it's entertaining. I have no idea why it's so hated.
@Shadows_Inc
@Shadows_Inc 11 ай бұрын
I don't think that was an issue at all. Teen Titans was canceled for YEARS before Teen Titans Go came out. The release of Go had absolutely no effect on whether Teen Titans was going to be renewed, if anything it helped people remember it and petition to get more of it, and the people behind Go were trying to make it happen as well. Teen Titans ended in 2006, and Teen Titans Go came out in 2013. Several shows had come and gone within that time frame, so to say that Go stopped the original from continuing, it's just factually inaccurate.

Like Ouran High School Host Club (idk if you've watched or not), but they break the 4th wall a lot and address the watchers directly. I find it funny. That's just my opinion though.

I think the only reason why it was so hated was for 2 things. 1, mostly from nostalgia-blind people who hate the slightest change 2, This show came out during a time where the animation community thought “If this show is an episodic series, it is automatically the worst thing in history.” Combining it with a previous story-driven series and it was sure to be despised by everybody. Not even giving it a chance

@@ethan_exists398 Ah, yes, unfortunately people tend to let one thing ruin anything for them. Like, example, I was skiing with a friend and we were on the lift. I had music on, and it was Black Paper Moon from Soul Eater, but it was an English version (mind you, this friend of mine doesn’t like anime at all though he’s never watched it). My friend comments on the song saying he thinks it sounds cool. I said “yeah I like it too. It’s from my favorite anime Soul Eater.” As soon I said that, he had a complete turn-around and went “oh… never mind” just because it was from an anime and not because he didn’t like the song. That reaction was kinda annoying ngl.

I have a friend, H, who was an animator on TTG. One Thanksgiving probably 8-9 years ago, I learned that it was my then 8-year-old niece's favorite show. I told H about it, and let my niece use my Discord account to chat. The same day the staff took a group pic to send to her, as well as sending lineart of her favorite character (Raven) making reference to what she had talked about in the Discord chat. I was surprised at the whole office sending stuff in response to one fan chat, and told H so. She explained that given how much hate the show got, sometimes it was hard for them to remember that the target demographic really did love the show - they were just too young to be on social media yet. So hearing from even one fan brightened the mood of the whole studio. (The studio was (is?) in Canada, if you're wondering why they were at work on American Thanksgiving.)

J. Torres, comic book writer for the og tt shows comic contradicts this. Also Tara Strong confirms that it’s an unresolved storyline on butch Harriman’s channel years ago. I even responded to a comment about how this guy talked to Ashley Johnson (VA for Terra) about the series finale. I asked him if she said anything about season 6 being expected or unexpected and he said that according to Ashley Johnson, the crew was indeed expecting a season 6 renewal. They weren’t guaranteed, but they thought it was a safe bet. I also found miscellaneous information from many fans in random parts of the internet saying stuff like glen murakami mentioned in an interview that Things Change was an attempt to get season 6 green lit and the crew and VA’s mentioned that they were prepping a new storyline where Terra II showed up. Note that for the last two pieces of information, I unfortunately couldn’t find the sources for them considering that they were on titanstower.com and that site is broken now so that sucks, but I believe the fans who said that considering they have no reason to lie. However I do have links to the previous three pieces of information. I can send you to them if you like.

The main reason it was originally hated is going to be forgotten over time: The hype before Teen Titans Go really piggybacked off of the Teen Titans fanbase. They were constantly promoting how "Teen Titans is coming back!" And "The original voice actors are coming back!" All the other reasons it was hated really was partially reinforced because of the momentum from the disappointment after the hype they built (There wouldnt be nearly as much hate if, for example, the original Teen Titans never existed). And when you add that to the fact that Teen Titans ended in the oddest way possible with a less-than-satisfying conclusion (before Trouble in Tokyo came along), people were hungry for it. Then when you get a goofy show with caricatures of the characters you grew up with? It made fans salty and in response to the backlash, the creators kept making episodes making fun of the fans.

Im pretty sure the main problem with TTG is that ever since the writers got so hooked on "getting back at the haters" episodes thats all they ever seem to want to do. I honestly think this show could actually be decently funny when its actually trying to be a show with its own identity instead of just constantly reminding the audience "WE ARENT THE OG TT FROM THE 2000s AND PEOPLE DONT LIKE US". Even though the drama passed like almost half a decade ago

I think for me, the one thing that just made me hate the show was just how BADLY Robin got screwed over by everything. I get that, yeah, they're all gonna get screwed over, but I disliked just how BADLY Robin got hit with that stick (no pun intended here) in comparison to the others. I enjoyed the slice of life comedic stylings of the show, but I just hated how they had to make Robin to be one of the WORST of the crew.

I was a teen titans go hater... and I still am lol. The original teen titans cartoon was groundbreaking for me as a baby artist and storyteller. It felt like one of the only shows that really took its audience seriously at the time, who were interested in portraying complex linear character development and interactions, alongside telling a cohesive story. I will always cite the original teen titans as my first and major inspiration that made me get excited about sharing and telling stories in the future, when I grew up. To see such a foundational, essential cornerstone of my childhood that helped shape me into the man I am today, made an absolute mockery of? It stings. I don't think it'll ever not sting.

this ^^^ 😔 the fact that they warped the definition of the characters so far just to attract an audience that was familiar with it, without even giving the original 2003-2006 teen titans a proper goodbye or anything, AS WELL as cutting the 5th season in half (it was supposed to be much longer, with slade coming back and taking over the brain's whole thing, check the TT wiki) is honestly really insulting to the artists, writers, VAs, and fans of the show. sure, not having a 6th season sucks (i'll be honest, i am still devasted lol), as that got cancelled as well, but they weren't even given the opportunity to properly finish the 5th one or create it how they originally wanted to. if they really wanted to make something like ttg, they should have come up with some unused side characters or different heros, or at least given the original closure. instead it's left with a cut season 5, cancelled 6th season, and cliffhangers, and then writers who admitted to never seeing the original teen titans are given the greenlight for ttg. it's honestly so insulting to all types of artists that came together to create the original teen titans. sure, there is effort put into ttg, but it just completely disrespects the original it takes everything from. even the directors, when asked about rebooting the original, have their writers script in jokes in-show in ttg about the original teen titans being cancelled and if the 6th season will ever be made. there was one whole episode dedicated to making fun of it. just completely disregarding how much they owe the original tt for ttg's success in characters and storylines. it's just so insulting to the original and tt's team of artists and writers along with the fans who just want closure :/ as an artist and writer it really boils my blood with how disrespectful it is (obviously not everyone in ttg's team but it's just so wrong for them to mock the original and its fans like that for them being the core success of their show. smh)

@@wormsquirms112 dude you GET IT. from the standpoint of an artist and a writer myself, it KILLS ME to see how far these characters have fallen. they were so layered and had so much depth in the original series. robin's whole red X arc, cyborg's identity crises and imposter syndrome and the episode where he has nightmares about being turned into a full robot, raven basically being mentally ill and it being surprisingly good representation even if they didn't mean for it to be, beast boy's constant struggle for respect and validity, starfire being torn this way and that between friendship and duty... the stories were so complex and narratively rich in a way that nothing else marketed towards kids really was during that time. it made me want to become a better writer just so that i could make something some day that would make another little kid feel the same way that teen titans made me feel. and then to see it reduced to flanderized fart jokes? ill never get over it. its truly unforgivable.

I remember thinking that they should have just made an original show, but realised that then they wouldn't have gotten anywhere near as much attention and started to think that they actually WANTED to upset fans of the original from the start in order to make their show stand out among comedy cartoons premiering on Cartoon Network

I'm not saying that Teen Titans Go became as beloved as Wind Waker is now, but it's a similar story.

I loved the original Teen Titans and was indifferent to Teen Titans GO until one of my baby sisters got sick with terminal brain cancer mid 2015. She loved the show before she got sick and it cheered her up since it was always on while we were at the children's hospital. I was her day to day Caregiver and I was with her overnight a lot so it eventually became a comfort show for the both of us. It also added to my love of Khary Payton who I discovered through his role on The Walking Dead during that same period. I haven't watched TTG since her passing in late 2016 but I still have good memories surrounding it and some of the running gags. I definitely understand where the hate came from but I can honestly say that it wasn't nearly as much of an atrocity as the overwhelming majority viewed and still view it as today. You touched on all the reasons why in the video. I'm glad you came around and shared your new opinions with us.

I was in the target demographic age range, but I think I had a more nuanced opionion even back then. A lot of the episodes or some scenes that were very cringe, but some that were actually really funny. Maybe part of it is the fact that I've always been able to seperate TTG from TT, and could recognise that the intention was entirely different and that TTG was not meant to be taken seriously at all. I still wish that we did get a proper final season for the original Teen Titans, as everyone thought. I would give anything to see that.

I decided to go into Go with the mindset of knowing that it was its own thing from the get-go. And I've kept that mindset for the past 10 years. It's one of the shows I watch for the fun of it all. And like you said, the whole schedule domination thing was because of Cartoon Network execs. Besides, you didn't HAVE to watch the channel ALL DAY, so if you were mad at that, blame the execs. Overall, it's a fun, witty show, and I don't see myself hating it any time soon. Now VELMA... oh yeah, that deserves ALL of the hate in the world. No, galaxy. NO, universe. NOOO, MULTIVERSE. I would honestly prefer a completely New Teen Titans Animated Series that's more faithful to the original comics than a 2003 Revival. Teen Titans 2003 may be beloved, nostalgic, and all that, but I would be lying if I said it was a completely perfect show that NEVER got too annoying. Even before The Go Reboot existed, there were a lot of scenes that were just too childish and comedic for their own good. Especially the anime faces. I'm sorry, but I just never found those faces to be funny. Cliffhanger or No Cliffhanger, it's for the best if we just move on.

The issue is not that the show is bad, (while it's certainly not good), its that they dumped money into it that pulled everything away from much more genuinely loved shows. I'm almost positive that Steven Universe being rushed down was a result of this show somewhat, and it certainly was directly at fault for other shows being pulled. It feels as though CN has completely let themselves go and have no interest in its shows or the people who watch their shows and only care about profit. (who's surprised though) its so shameful. I appreciate Saber giving the show another chance, and some of the clips he picked out were pretty funny! But several years back when I decided to give the show a fair chance, the couple episodes I watched were full of what I can only call mean-spirited jokes. It was just all the characters being nasty to each other, and being generally unlikable people. Maybe the show isn't like that as much anymore, but I personally couldn't sit through that just to catch the odd gem here or there.

The Night Begins To Shine series is excellent if you haven't seen it. They have enough traction for me to scale a pine tree with just my hands and feet and I get an extra 2 inch raise. As someone who watched Teen Titans Go first and watched the original years later, I never really hated the show. I thought it took a bit too far in some episodes, fart jokes are fart jokes, and it was far from my favorite show on the network, but I overall found the show genuinely funny and creative with its approach and ways of doing things compared to other shows at the time. I never saw it as the show most dc fans wanted it to be, I always saw it as what the show wanted itself to be. A laid back, fun and chaotic show that relaxes your brain. While the show has its moments here and there, the show never tries to be anything it isn't. The crew knew what the show was, and planned to keep it that way. Even to this day, the show still retains those feelings, but it definitely leans more on its chaotic and creative sides as more seasons come. Despite being seen as and named the Teen Titans, they are nothing like the original teen titans at all. Heck, they don't fall into any formula that any superhero movie or show has dared take a dip into. You'd expect them to run out of ideas at this point, but one of the strongest points to this show is that you can do ANYTHING with it. An episode where Robin is mad that he didn't get a free birthday ice cream and so mauls the Titans with wolves, that's an episode. An episode where the titans transform into cars and fight an evil military doctor, that exists too. An episode where Robin gets an intelligent and sentient message chair that relaxes the titans and the retire world to death, what do you think? That's the beauty of this show to me, the chaos. You never expect what they'll do next, and they have no limit to their creativity. The show isn't some grand masterpiece by any means, but it's such a unique show is so many regards, having it stand out so much in comparison to most other shows. Fans of dc ragged on it relentlessly, and Teen Titans Go in some ways used that as a strength. They were aware of its hatred and they did not care, they did what they wanted and it is absolutely commemorable. I still enjoy this show to this day. Not in the same way as I enjoy shows with more focused plots, story, characters, and writing, but I see it as an excellent means to just let go. Have fun and just absorb the absurdity.

In my opinion the original Teen Titans had a pretty perfect finale. It wasn’t intended to be this grandiose end, as said we pretty much got that with the episode beforehand. So to wrap up the season and series as a whole, As Khary Payton puts it “What is the biggest lesson a teen takes?” It’s moving on. The 0roblem is, we watch media for the resolutions we don't get on real life. It gives up hope to find them IRL. I think another reason why people (including me) hate TTG is because Tara Strong tweeted that if TTG to the Movies did well the original would come back but unfortunately it still never did and all we got was a crossover where the original Teen Titans looked... off, so it kind of made me feel like I just got conned for a movie I liked because it had comedy and action

Actually, that was not regarding that movie, that was regarding the ttg vs tt movie, which did horribly. It failed because og fans boycotted it out of hatred for ttg. Because it did so poorly it appeared as though tt fans were not a large enough demographic to continue the show for

The fact that OG action was enough to make the movie do bad tell you Ttg has no leg to stand on and the moment it stop airing people will forget about it andd see whatever the heck it was replaced with. Also comes in question what is in the rest of cartoon network catalog to make ttg their flag ship. Really apalling

It’s crazy that the creators of teen titans go will later go to be the writers of illumination’s super Mario bros movie.

It's nice seeing this, especially since just a week or so ago, I saw someone make a poll on this exact question. The overwhelming response was that TTG was always the worst thing to ever exist, and always will be. Wonder if a few of those people will have a new perspective after this video?

On the original Teen Titans not having a "proper finale", I saw someone else's video about why "All Things Must Change" was the final episode, and it did a good job of defending it as an actual proper finale for the show. The message of that episode is that things change, new things will appear in your life, and questions about your life might go unanswered, but that's just part of growing up, and you have to learn to move on and go through your life without closure sometimes. It's a pretty powerful message, especially for a show like Teen Titans, and I think it was important for them to make that the final episode. If OG TT had gotten a proper final episode where everything wrapped up neatly, would it have actually been better off for it? Or is the way that it ended, an open book with a weird mystery introduced in its final episode with no resolution, just a metaphor for how in life, sometimes things just don't end in a satisfying way, but you have to keep moving on? I kind of really like the idea of that; I feel like, even if OG TT hadn't gotten its final season shaved in half and had gotten to tell the full story it wanted to tell with the villains and teen heroes all teaming up to fight each other, All Things Must Change would've still been the final episode of the season. Even with everything wrapping up "properly", we still would've gotten that weird final episode stinger that should've led into the next season, but ultimately wouldn't, because I'm pretty sure the crew knew that season was the last one they were going to get. It was planned to end that way, so I would say that it got a proper finale, even though that finale provided zero closure, because that was the point of it.

Unfortunately if it was not accepted by so many fans then it failed to be a proper finale even if it theoretically could be on paper when interpreted a certain way.

Why does fans having no zero media literacy translate to it being a bad finale?

I will admit that it's kind of impressive how this show is still going strong. It's still on the air no matter what anyone says, and it's likely to join the ranks of The Simpsons and SpongeBob in terms of long-running animated shows. Now, I am not saying that everyone has to LIKE TTG now just because it's not cancelled. Quantity is not equal to quality. But maybe we should give this show a Teensy-Weensy bit of credit for not backing out despite all the endless backlash it received over the years.

One of the funniest things I've ever heard a showrunner say was when the creators where asked which Robin it was "Is this Robin Dick Grayson or Tim Drake" and a showrunner answered: "Do you really think we would make a character this insufferable and not take the opportunity to call him Dick?"

I'm glad people are giving it another shake, especially after the movie. It's worth noting though that GO had nothing to do with the cancellation of either Young Justice or the original Teen Titans. That was almost entirely due to poor toy sales. David Slack, producer on Titans, noted they were moving towards a Mattel toy distribution license, and Bandai held Titans. So, due to poor sales, it was decided not to renew. Mattel received the license in 2006, which was basically the nail in the coffin. Young Justice faced a similar issue. Greg Weisman revealed the reason for the show's cancellation on a podcast. The show's funding was based on a toy deal with Mattel. The toys were not selling enough so Mattel cancelled the toy line, pulling the funding for the show. With no sources of income large enough to replace the money from Mattel, the show was not picked up for a third season. So, while I get it's a popular rumor to blame GO for those series ending, it's pretty incorrect.

Kinda reminds me of how a lot of old '80s and '90s cartoons worked. A lot of cartoons since then were heavily tied to how many toys they could sell.
