But is there another Haaland or Salah out in the market? They get desperate and then demand decent at best strikers to be signed. Jumping on the Toney and even Watkins hype train fed by the media. Are they good players, sure. But they haven’t shown they are consistent enough in terms of output to spend 80-100mill on. Salah at Fiorentina was on an upwards trajectory, proved for 3 seasons he is the real deal and Liverpool came for him for about 40mill. Even Haaland was cheap considering the amount of goals he scored before his move to City. And Arsenal fans think it’s a good idea to spend 70-80mill on a 28 year old Toney who may not even work out? If you’re going to spend that kind of amount, you best guarantee he’s the real deal and not just a potential. Potential shouldn’t cost you that much, just ask Chelsea. Be patient is all I have to say. By the way, Xavi Simons is a beast and I rate that kid very highly. Tortured us when we played PSV last season. Wanted him before we signed Havertz. But I’d still want him at Arsenal. Gyokeres stats is off the charts, but I’m going to stay consistent on my reasoning on over spending on potential. If he’s 50-60mill and Arteta wants him, I’d say slight risk but worth a shot

Jorginho did an interview where he did not have enough things to say about how brilliant he thought Havertz was. His struggles to start his Arsenal career in hindsight seem to be a combination of his confidence being near sub-zero and Arteta trying to find a way to fit him into the team. Arguably that penalty he was handed against Bournemouth and Jesus’ fitness issues have been a blessing and a half for him. Honestly pretty much since November I’ve been saying if Arsenal bought him for half what they did it’d be a different conversation about him. And personally I didn’t think he was playing poorly before November but it certainly wasn’t as clear and obvious as it is since the new year.

Kai was at Chelsea for three seasons and did nothing but score that one goal. Three years... At one point, even if you rated the kid, there was nothing I could say to defend his performances, let alone his missed chances that were clear goal scoring opportunities. Truly thought he was going to be the second coming of Kaká but the player we once saw in awe at Leverkusen was no longer there. I wish nothing but the best for dude, but us Chelsea fans got tired of him, exhausted and you can't blame us. He's doing good now but lets see how he performs next season. Consistency is everything. I think that’s totally fair. I would also just like to point out that he has brought things to this team that aren’t necessarily directly tied to his output but that are valuable nonetheless. His pressing is very good, he wins most of his aerial duels, he defends from the front really well, he’s extremely unselfish and will put his body on the line if it means we get an advantage. He’s even brought a bit of that edge, those dark arts of the sport to the game. Him and Ben White are actually so good in that regard. 🤣

Its amazing how quickly opinions can change - takes like 5 matches I reckon. Arsenal in the beginning of the season - unconvincing. Arsenal in late December losing 2 in a row to Fulham and West Ham - Bottlers. Now they're already champions. Arsenal's defence is amazing, up there in Europe this year. But injuries can happen - attackers can stop scoring like they did in late December or August-September. And there is time for another 'run' in these 7 games where any of the three can be flawless while the other two drop points. That's all it takes.

i think u were wrong in calling him a bad player because there was always a chance he got back to his level at leverkusen, i think people in general were right in saying for 60m he wasn’t a good signing because he’s not gonna be at a world class or even a great level, he’ll have periods of being good and periods of being meh and as a depth option he is good to have being able to play a range of positions to a decent standard but he’ll never get to let’s say a 15 prem goals tally as a striker or won’t light the world on fire from midfield. Havertz himself has come out this week and said Arteta has made him a better player. Also Arteta has shown him things that he never knew before. Havertz also spoke about the amount of details Arteta has shown him regarding playing the game. This is consistent with many players that Arteta has signed or worked with (aka Sane,now at Munich). He was a player who in his time whilst at chelsea was a forward. Even at national team level he was a forward and in saying that he was a forward who hadn't had a lick of form in his entire last season at chelsea, didn't have a month where you'd say he was performing well. All this taken into account arteta signed him an played him in midfield, a player that hadn't played midfield in over 3 years and had absolutely no confidence or form to speak of. It was always going to take time but tge people who didn't want to give him that time made it out like he was an awful football and an awful signing from arsenal.
