Heading back this year, first time was last year. If you hike, learn about the shuttles because parking is limited which can make your day frustrating. If you want a almost guaranteed chance to see a moose then go to the Fishercap Lake(Many Glacier)in the evening(wasn’t there in the morning so can’t speak on it). We decided to split our stay when we went so we stayed one week on the west side in a cabin in Polebridge to mostly explore that side. There’s great hiking in the Flathead like a short hike to Hornets Lookout and longer one to Cyclone Peak. This year we’re staying in a cabin right outside of Many Glacier to explore the east side better.

Is it a reasonable plan to stay in Kalispell MT drive to park for drive on Going to the Sun Road, then return to hotel in Kalispell in one day? Tks

Yes it is doable! It could take about 2 1/2-3 hours to get from Kalispell to St Mary, then you'd have to drive back. It would be a long day but completely doable.
