Very interesting and informative video. One thing you missed...the Old Faithful Inn was financed by a railroad too...the Northern Pacific in 1902, after the original inn burned in 1894.. My dad used to escort tours of people who got off the train in Livingston, MT, and were taken down to the park for tours. One of my favorite books as a child was Marguerite Henry's Brighty of the Grand Canyon. I read all of her Horseshoe Library horse-themed books, but Brighty was always my favorite. We stayed at the Lodge on the North Rim in 1982, and I was so happy to see the Brighty statue. Keep up the great work!

Great video, as always, with great information. From history, useful information, honest opinions, and humorous comments to colorful personal stories, We’re in the Rockies always shines. I have used their videos for planning my trips and I can’t tell you how useful they have been. I love their stories from pterodactyl babies camping, to not being sure about eating a crumpet, always entertaining. I always learn history I didn’t always know. These videos are the best on KZbin. Thanks guys! Keep up the great work! 🫎

Good highlights of possible stays. Your experience on what to expect for room amenities or lacking would have added to this tour.

I think the best view of Old Faithful Geyser is from the Old Faithful Lodge (vs Old Faithful Inn)---from the OF Lodge's porch, with its rocking chairs, in front of the cafeteria. We also were lucky enough to get a time cabin there, with a view of the erupting geyser ! An easy ten minute walk to Old Faithful Inn for its magnificent lobby (and music in the evening). The view fin Grand Teton rom Signal Mountain Lodge's dining room is fantastic! Wonderful cabin rooms there are a lot less than at Jenny Lake Lodge. LOL Matt's comment about herbal tea! I agree!!! Thanks as always for the time and knowledge you share!!! You inspired me to book a verrryyy rare opening at Many Glacier this summer! Fingers crossed more places will open up as the arrival date gets closer.

Nicely done--can't really argue with any of these. Like you at some of these we opted for breakfast to save a little. Our favorite is probably Many Glacier, but the cabins at the North Rim are great. I would suggest the following (in alphabetical order) as worth visits: The Lodge at Bryce Canyon, Crater Lake Lodge, in Olympic NP Lake Crescent Lodge, Paradise Inn in Mt. Rainier, and Zion Lodge. We plan to visit many of these again in the future.

Great, been at all but Banff, but what about The Awhanee at Yosemite? Is this limited to the Rockies?
@WereintheRockies9 ай бұрын
Nope, just limited to the places we’ve been. We will get to Yosemite though!

Our family has stayed at many of these lodges. My favorite is Old Faithful Inn which we have visited and stayed at many times. Your video mentioned something about the Old Faithful Inn that I never recognized. You pointed out that the central lodge is made of lodgepole pine - which as you point out - is not a very good wood to construct buildings. I am somewhat surprised that the Old Faithful Inn is standing up as well as it does.

Thanks for the list! Pity the lodges charge so much for dinners, but it's what the market bears in bear country, ha ha!
