This rocks! I saw Warren Zevon perform this in person on two occasions. The second time, he disguised it as a smarmy version of a Christmas song for a minute or so. When he finally played "the hook" and revealed what he was really up to, it instantly brought the crowd to its feet in a glorious surge. That moment was over thirty years ago, but I remember it well. You two just did him proud, well done. I wish he could have lived to see this. RIP Warren Zevon, 1947-2003.

The best part of this Zevon song is most definitely the “DUP” he shouts out after pointing out that the werewolf’s hair was perfect, so I’m glad Toni channeled that. Hope enjoyed this Halloween jam, and hope to see some of you guys over at our spooky livestream too! www.crowdcast.io/e/hauntedlibraryreturns

Just one correction on the lyrics. Instead of "Happy Sunday Morning", it should be "Draw Blood". 😁 Or maybe that should come before the last 'Ah-oooooooo). Oh, wait. On re-listen it's just in front of the instrumental. I couldn't make it out the first time through. Never mind. It's a great cover. 👍 On third thought, the substitution for "Happy Sunday Morning" would have been good, too.😁

I agree. I think those elements really add so much to songs. Like Mick making the "eh" sound during the end of "Sister Morphine", at the ~4:31 mark of this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWScnISlpdeZhpI.
I caught that. I didn't have a full laugh out loud but did have a chuckle out loud especially how Toni cracked herself up on it.

Sure do miss Warren. I loved when the Dead did this at the Halloween shows in Oakland in ‘91. The werewolves of Oakland as we called it. Warren sure knew how to turn a phrase. He was also a master of utilizing the technique of using an upbeat melody and very dark lyrics as illustrated in “Excitable Boy”.
