It's also nice to hear the individual parts clearer like this because sometimes, after all the tracking and mastering is finished, you're getting the holistic experience, but not the most detailed experience. I always like hearing their songs split up. it just makes me appreciate the musicianship of the band that much more.

I always did that. Dont think I learned it from anybody, just did it because it felt right when I was first learning to play. Ive heard people say its bad technique and slows down picking, but I never cared as I was always able to play what I wanted to play.
@givemeajackson Жыл бұрын
@@SvendleBerries i think for some people it helps to keep a positional reference, and some people also use their pinky for muting (steve morse for example). my former guitar teacher, who is a huge steve morse fan and abides by his "alternate pick all the things" philosophy also does that, and while he's an absolute beast in terms of picking, he has injured himself doing it a couple of times. he locked his forearm more in place than dean does, which meant most of his picking motion came out of the wrist moving side to side and less out of a rotation of the forearm. he's since adapted to a more hybrid style where he only switches to that style of picking for the hardest parts, and i think dean's done something similar lately. i don't think it's a habit i'd consider correcting in a student, as long as they don't hurt themselves. but if someone experiences wrist pain i'd advise them to switch to a closed fist picking hand for a while and see if that improves the situation. i think picking hand technique is super interesting, and seeing what works for different people. dean also has this hyperextended thumb like tosin, holding the pick parralel or almost at a reverse angle to the string. i could never play like that.

If you r representing the band. Why wouldn't u play Tobi's solo? Looks really bad to do a play through and u get to the solo and your playing the rhythm section? I noticed on your cover videos if some one plays Tobi's parts u basically skip through them? Why? Whats the deal. R u like contractually not aloud to play Tobi's stuff. Or is it just some kinda of stupid pissing contest.

1. Dean always points out whether the covers play his or Tobi’s parts or both. 2. If Dean doesn’t want to say anything about the parts he didn’t write, or simply aren’t his. Respect him! 3.When he represents the band, it should be normal that he plays his role in the band ; his role means his parts. Guitar solos aren’t everything, also why would he play Tobi’s parts anyway, Dean has his own parts ffs
