Oh my fav Blade movie! Opening scene was great!
@dylanhopkins59343 ай бұрын
Blade 2 is definitely my favorite Blade movie. Blade 1 was a really close 2nd. I just feel like the premise of this one was a lil more entertaining, and not one we see often. The protagonist having to work with the antagonist to defeat an even bigger threat. And something else that I don't often get in movies, is the villain ACTUALLY feeling like he's a threat to our MC. I liked Frost, but not once did I feel like he was actually a threat to Blade. The closest point was near the end when he got the powers of the Blood God, but even then I didn't feel like Blade had to put much effort in to beat him. And to be honest, I felt the same way about the 3rd movie villain. The villain in this one, Nomak, actually felt like he could do some real damage to Blade. He's the only villain of the trilogy to give Blade a run for his money like he did. 14:03 Well he doesn't have a UV flashlight on him. So he can't just use light whenever he wants. The lights were only given to the other vampires. He was also trying a different method that they hadn't tried yet. They only knew that silver didn't work. But Skud gave Blade the gauntlet things that had the chemical EDTA in it from the last movie that causes vampires to blow up. Remember Karen was a doctor and she discovered that EDTA was an anticoagulant that, when in contact with vampire blood, causes them to explode. So Blade was using that. Once he realized it didn't work, it was too late and he was stuck in combat. 18:05 She didn't UV right away because that was her lover. I know that it makes sense as a viewer to UV them right away, but you have to take into account the context of what's going on. If you just found out that someone you loved was turned into some kinda vampire monster, you probably wouldn't immediately think to kill them in a split second. A lot of people would probably freeze in that kinda scenario.

Something Not Mentioned Yet: Wesley Snipes stand-ins were used. There's a famous helicopter scene (not shown here) that's a stunt double. There's another where someone wore a Wesley mask. He was injured, declined to reshoot or something like that. It was the start of drama with writer David S. Goyer that spilled into Blade 3 where Wesley notoriously also had issues with the cast. Blade 2025 ain't 2025 no more. It's been in Production hell. Lol

Whenever they get around to doing the last Blade film with Wesley, or the next run of them if they're going to (cgi can easily pick up where his limitations stop him in action, plus stunt people, etc) they should bring back Del Toro, he really nailed a lot of the cool and creepy stuff all at the same time. Don't know if they could afford him though, half the names attached to this became megastars.

Pretty much the size of it though it was that ahead of it's time when that was a fresh new thing. I've seen very few movies in a theater that involved audience participation and this was one. No joke even the old grandma's where laughing out loud and standing up going Whoo hoo and such. It's a good time and it's good for being it. The chin thing otherwise. They could have kept that. It's a LOT and I do mean it does overwhelm the composition and immersion. It's hard to keep focused on the story when that creepypasta thing keeps pulling you out of it. It was a neat idea mind you but I wouldn't have committed to that bit or at least not given that much screen time to it.

Originally subtitled as "Bloodhunt". The first great sequel of Marvel's golden age on film (1998-2007) and his return to action was glorious, less than 2 years after X-Men (2000) and over a month before Spider-Man (2002). The comic-book sensibility makes an extreme approach out of the horror, suspense and action. Gullermo Del Toro truly came through in a clutch and i loved his film, Mimic (1997). Wesley Snipes with Jeff Ward did the fight choreography like the first film while Donnie Yen handled the wire choreography. Thomas Kretschmann who plays Overlord Eli Damaskinos goes on to play HYDRA Leader, Baron Strucker in the MCU. Tony Curran who plays Priest of The Bloodpack, went on to play Finn Cooley of the Kitchen Irish on Daredevil (S2). Matt Schulze who plays Chupa of The Bloodpack, made his film debut in Blade (1998) as an character named Crease. The soundtrack was fire with hip hop artist collaborations with dance music artist. The video game on PS2 & X-box was dope too and had the Marvel title logo before Spider-Man (2002). Blade Trinity is considered the worse of the trilogy. React to Ihe extended cut (better, tolerable version). I'm just glad that Blade has been getting more and more love as an character that changed the game more now than ever.

My only complaint about this film was how wrong they did Donnie Yen. He's one of my favorite actors to ever do it. Just a big martial arts head here and he got that 'Bruce Lee' vibe where he can not only go with the action, but dude can really act and pull you in when the films offer him to. Was so happy how well he's been used in other films they brought him in to, but this was definitely an odd one. I never researched, but I'm assuming they had larger plans that got cut. The studio and Wesley had a verbal war during these films and we enjoyed those films because of how hard Wesley fought them on what they wanted to change.
