@Paulafan56 жыл бұрын
Bad umps do get games taken away from them, and they are disciplined, but it's kept in-house. To be fair, umpires are probably the most accurate of all team sport refs when it comes to call accuracy. NBA refs are a joke and NHL refs have "unwritten" rules about what calls to make and when. Umpires are fairly accurate, considering their angle makes it impossible (sometimes) to see the pitch properly.

1. Technology isn’t there yet. 2. It takes away the human element of the game 3. It takes away a major part of the game for catchers 4. It makes the game more boring 5. You won’t like some of the calls that zone will be making guarenteed
@thetalkingstick92144 жыл бұрын
Tyler Reddick 1.) What is the foxtrax you ask? It’s a program that does exactly what you say doesn’t exist, and it works pretty fast, less then 2 seconds after the pitch. 2.) It takes away a negative human element of the game, (ego, bribery, bias) so that’s a good thing. 3.) As a catcher, it doesn’t, I would honestly prefer not having a ump behind me as I play as focusing on catching balls that can easily injury me is more important then thinking about how I have to prove I had possession of the ball as I tagged someone sliding into home before the umpire makes his split second decision and possibly calls him safe because he didn’t see I had possession. 4.) It wouldn’t, It just makes the game and calls more fair and reasonable.5.) I would, because there’s already a rule for balls in/out of the zone at the same time, (if the ball is one of the majority of either area, that area with the majority gets the call, aka if it’s mostly outside the strike zone, it’s a ball, if mostly inside the zone, it’s a strike.) That’s how the game’s supposedly be upheld, It just makes it harder for fans to bitch and use the umps as a scapegoat to the players’ mistakes. So if it’s a close call, and inside the zone is the majority, but you wanted a ball and your team just lost from the strikeout, you can’t blame it on a bad call, the call is perfect, but you have to blame it on the batter for not swinging at the pitch, but most fans don’t want to do that, they would rather use the umps as the reason they team lost.

I wish more players would do what Ortiz did and give the umps the heave ho. Some umpires should be thrown out of the game.It was funny when he did that back to the ump.

PerryArt420 typical, I use a word that contains more than one syllable and people don't understand it. Conspiracy is the acting of conspiring. Conspiring is jointly making plans to commit an unlawful ( rig the games) act. So before you get all pissed off, learn the definition of the word I used. I used that word based on you saying everyone is in on it ( rigging the games). By the way still waiting on any sort of proof.
@PerryArt4206 жыл бұрын
NO ONE SAID CONSPIRICY, You still need to read everyword and understand what people say, Good Grief here , ONE MORE TIME, so you get EXACTLY what I said..... .> IN MY OPINION OF WATCHING SPORTS FOR OVER 50 YEARS... PerryArt420 1 week ago it's no secret..... EVERYONE in a position of control, Umps, included, get PAID OFF, to call bad plays.... CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? , All one syllable words, that OBVIOUSYLY You DON"T UNDERSTAND..... LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
@Swolling6 жыл бұрын
PerryArt420 you don't need to say conspiracy. The definition fits. Just because the word isn't used doesn't mean it doesn't apply. The definition fits so you are claiming a conspiracy. Whether you use the actual word verbatim doesn't matter. You still have made a claim to a conspiracy. Give me proof. Stop getting all hot and bothered typing with caps and stop getting upset because you claim conspiracy without saying it based on the definition of the word and give proof. It's No big secret? Where is the proof?

I don't understand it when players get tossed and don't put up a fuss. If you get ejected you might as well make the umpire feel awkward. They can't through you out twice!
@hpwest97536 жыл бұрын
The clip with Lester really wasn't so bad. The last call was correct and the ump let Madden talk for a while without the ejection

Yeah but the umpire charged the mound lol
@moonshinespaz85595 жыл бұрын
I think the ump would have come under fire if he charged the mound then ejected someone and he probably realized that at some point...a little contradictory. Why cant we hold the umps/refs up to the same standard as we hold the players and coaches????
@douglaslally1566 жыл бұрын
Moving the batting circle was actually kinda funny and the ump should've just laughed it off.

Being a ref in any sport is an awful, thankless job. Umpires get the call right 95% of the time, which is much better than any other team sport officiating, and they still get treated like crap. It's no wonder some of them snap at spoiled millionaires arguing balls and strikes.

The worst part of baseball has been the umpires, especially when so many feel that their authority is more important than the game itself.

Honestly what pisses me off the most about some of these umps, isn’t that they make bad calls, that’s somewhat excusable, but the fact that all of them just try to escalate the situation, and that they’re just incredibly sensitive

Raider19er last time someone did that he had to have his whole front office and management fight to not get suspended. It’s unfortunate but MLB takes anything to do with the umps waaaay to seriously. Honestly I’d like to see a couple of these douchenozzles get decked a time or two. Especially Ron Kulpa. That guy is a fucking smug asshole and you can see it every time he steps on the field.

Baseball Rules: 9.00 The Umpire. ... (d) Each umpire has authority to disqualify any player, coach, manager or substitute for objecting to decisions or for unsportsmanlike conduct or language, and to eject such disqualified person from the playing field.
@coramoor36 жыл бұрын
Few people know that the omitted part of that rule states: ...while the umpires themselves can do whatever they want to instigate the players, coaches, managers or substitutes, thereby having a reason to throw them out, because let's face it, they want air time too.

After watching these videos of batters & umpires arguing balls & strikes I suddenly remembered the Miller Light commercial that Boog Powell & Jim Honochick were in. Look it up. It was HILLARIOUS. Then there was the "Reunion" where Honochick turns to Bubba Smith & exclaims "Hey, you're Boog Powell!" I hope both are on the Internet.
