WEST COAST RAIL: Spectacular Scottish highland scenery by rail Glasgow Queen Street to Oban Airport

I catch the Scotrail service from Glasgow Queen Street for the spectacular highland trip to Oban, but get off one stop early at Connel Ferry. I explore an impressive man-made structure and look over a natural wonder. I then walk to Oban airport. Walk to an airport?? How many people have ever done that?

My wife and I were on a bus tour of Scotland earlier this year. On the ride down from Inverness to Oban she got violently motion sick and informed me she was not going to get back on that bus. As the trip was to go onto Glasgow the next day, this was going to prove a problem. Not to worry, I told the tour guide we'd meet them in Glasgow and take the train. It was great! We really enjoyed it and of course the scenery was fantastic! She did not get ill, and since our hotel was just a short walk from Queen street station it all worked out.

Thanks and glad everything worked out well. I sometimes get a little nauseous on buses as well. Our highland roads are not known for being very straight.

It's a nice journey, although you have to continually jump from one side of the train to the other and back again if photographing things.

ScotRail is one of the best I've ever experienced

Poor Scotrail is in trouble with the Scottish Government at the moment because their on-time performance is poor and their satisfaction level with the public is only around 82%. I use them every day to/from work, and they could be a lot worse, especially when you read about the horror stories of commuting into London.
