Six count. Eight count. Ten count. It doesn’t matter as long as you keep moving, hence the beloved anchor step.

Thank you very much for your beautiful videos. I have a question about that. Why don't the men make figures or turns?
@WestCoastSwingOnline9 ай бұрын
In the basics, leaders have a lot of other things to focus on. When you get more advanced the leaders have turns and footwork styling and fun things. But like everything to be able to be good at those kind of things you need a good foundation.

Are her steps supposed to be slightly behind the beat?
@WestCoastSwingOnline4 ай бұрын
The followers footwork should be on beat. The leader needs to lead a millisecond early to make sure everything is on beat.

Rly don't get how one time there are 6 steps and sometimes there are 8?!?!
@WestCoastSwingOnlineАй бұрын
It is a confusing topic for sure. So west coast swing and east coast swing are danced to 8count music. But there most basic patterns are 6 counts. This video helps explain a little: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWKzlpxvqJejm9E

i mean, the number of steps is equal for both partners, but the leader does the leading, and follower does the following, obviously :) as somebody who has done both, i would say that leading is indeed harder, although both require different set of skills
@WestCoastSwingOnline8 ай бұрын
Everyone has the same amount of footwork, however the leader has a harder job bc of how many things the leader is in charge of.

Why is it one time "1,2,3+4,5+6" and one time "1,2,3+4,5,6,7+8"?

Thanks for this! Do you know if most dance WCS comps would accept two male partners? Me n my boyfriend wanna join but every one we’ve seen so far is mixed gender. No problem if so, just curious! :-)
@WestCoastSwingOnline6 ай бұрын
Yes for sure - it's pretty normal for people to just choose the role they want to dance. Back in the day it was Men Lead and Ladies Follow. Now you'll have Males Leading and Following and Ladies Leading and Following. So don't sweat. Chose which role you want to dance and go for it! Hope that helps -Brian
