Ipswich fan. Big Mac a big part of our success but its a trilogy starting with great new ownership model, then a fantastic Exec in Mark Ashton before finally great choice in manager. The fans had returned in their thousands well before Kieren was appointed as we have hope restored. Kieren is great and I hope he stays many years. He is responsible for our rocketing up through the divisions so quickly but not for the rebirth of ITFC as a big club. That work was already done for which I am so grateful. I have total faith in the club to find the right replacement manager should the worst happen.

I’d like to see an XI of Areola AWB todibo Kilman Emerson Alvarez Kudus Soucek Paqueta Summerville Bowen Progressive back 4. Wouldn’t drop Emerson as I want to get him to work. If it doesn’t, then JL has 2 weeks on the training ground to retrain his new back 4 which would then be the 4 you two have selected. You don’t turn into a bad player overnight and I feel his attacking influence has been limited but a left footed winger on the left staying out wide. Get Summerville on the left and inside with Emerson overlapping and I think we’ll see the old him. Kudus and Bowen both have to play and the best way to fit them in is by kudus on the right and Bowen up front. Kudus looks far more enthusiastic on the right and would cut in so AWB can overlap again. I feel that’s his best position and that Bowen can do a job in the 9 so go with it. I wouldn’t drop Paqueta as we have little creativity without him. I want to see him & Soucek as 2 number 8s whose roles switch depending on when in/out of possession. In possession, Paq drops in and Soucek pushes forwards for an aerial threat and limit his involvement in build up then out of possession, Soucek drops in alongside Alvarez and paqueta pushes up to help press with Bowen.It’s all about balance and I think that’s our most balanced personnel and approach. I believe Moyes kept the squad small so the big hitters knew they were going to start every game most times. And therefore we had a more settled squad and we knew who the starting 11 was going to be. Their fans travel well and they will be vocal. IF we win, which I hope we do, it will only be by the odd goal, but going for a 1-1 draw. Agree with Geo: think they will stay up. I've watched them a lot this season - hard working, with some nice technical players and some scrap if they need to. Great manager. I see this as having 2-2 written all over it, despite the fact I'm going to my first home match in years... I know this is off the wall, but want to see Kudus on the right, Summerville and Soler to start, and liked what I saw of Mav and AWB where they were last match. Paqueta has looked off, but it only takes one wonderful touch and he can create; if he loses the ball, then the best place to lose it is up front. I didn’t like Avram Grant, Big Sam, David Moyes & I’m not keen on J Lo but !!! Our best attacking players, kudos, bowen, sommerville. It seems clear to me that they all played better last season for a reason. They were all purchased for a manager who liked to defend deep and and exploit the space up front that this creates? By pushing up 10-15 yards, this gives these players much less space to run in to. When I think of a lot of our goals, it's is one on one's and good through balls. Soo drop back 10 yards to invite teams forward. Bingo

I wouldn’t say our big players are playing worse under Lopey. We’ve been very poor for almost 2 seasons now. Particularly Emerson. He was a poor defender last season. He was as much a problem as any of the other 3 but got away with being singled out because he offered a little more going forward. Thing is, he only offered a bit more when he played with Paqueta on the left. He was unable to partner with any other player. He’s a professional footballer. It’s his job to play with his teammates, not just a single player. He is a big problem in this side. Putting him aside, though, the rest of these players have been underwhelming for a long, long time now. And I think we are, the fans have probably overestimated how good some of these players are.

I just don't get West Ham tbh. Looking at other managers - Unai Emery, Arne Slot, Fabian Hürzeler, Enzo Maresca and probably others who I can´t remember, were all bought from other clubs. These are all attracting, premium mangers who come at a price. Furthermore, their starts at their Premier League clubs all came with a bang. I'm sick of these excuses of needing to give the team time to gel. Why didn't the others need time to do that? How you can spend so much on ingredients and none on the chef is beyond me. Lopetegui ain't going to get it right. I had little faith to begin with but I have none at the moment.

you know what is the difference between jlo and unai, slot, hurzeler, and maresca? unlike jlo, 4 of them didn't do team rebuild at their first season. tell me i'm wrong. and except unai, 3 of them didn't change how their team play football, didn't change tactics, didn't change the team from counter attack to attacking football. there's no such things as instant changes especially if you rebuild the team. be patient.

@@buatmainml1284 your right , but the fans have big expectations this season, and if they turn against Lopetegui, the board will be under pressure to act. But I think it’s got to be very desperate for them to do so. The press have really got the knives out for him, they want him to fail, I hope he turns it round.

@@MakeWestHamGreatAgain the point is, how we play, how we attack, and how we maintaining ball possession are very different things from moyes era. and that change need time.
