I want the critics to be more specific about players they think aren't putting in enough. But fact is, that you can't drop guys. They can't be disciplined and you can't run them into form. Some guys just aren't as mentally strong either. That's what separates elite players from good athletes. Its the contested ball that is the issue. Being at SCG with players out and no cohesion I can understand that ball movement would be average.

⁠@@BDub2024I think shuey, Kelly, Yeo, and barass are the only ones who can say they gave it their all. I watched players briskly walk when Sydney were rebounding from our 50. Swans ran passages where not a finger was laid or any form of defensive pressure. I can’t think of anything we actually did really well? They are my club and I’ve loved them since I can remember but this is embarrassing.

@@jackwitcombe765 If you look at the best and fairest for the past 2 years its regularly Kelly Shuey Yeo Barrass and MCGovern as the best players. Totally agree. I'd add Hurn Allen and Redden from last year. That's why its been so damaging missing guys consistently. It also makes it a joke when people say they need to get rid of their older players, who are constantly their best players.

Not sure about complacency. I think some recruiting and list management was average in 2018 to 2020. But Nissie sorted it out and they've gone out with youth for the last 2 draft picks and got some guns in Culley and Maric too. We just need another 3 good drafts.

@@Bbirks AFL would fine us heavily if we picked less than 23. We have no solution but to keep picking guys. You got some older guys playing in the key midfield positions when they aren't up to it. We all know it. But Simmo is trying to give young kids exposure but not crush them at the same time.

Yes. But I think the press need to be more honest about players and situations that aren't working. The shockjocks just want to blame the coach and a big name. They're too lazy to talk about problems with the EAgles winning the contested ball. What went wrong, who... how often etc. We know that its hard with ball movement at SCG, especially with guys underdone and out of position. They can't even train properly during the week so there is no cohesion. But as for the contested ball I want details.

When your senior players are setting such a poor example why play em. It’s the younger gen that’s showing they want to play I saw so many half tackles from senior players. The biggest problem is the senior players are too comfortable they they can play half arsed they’ll get a game. Biggest this hurts bring back eagles of the nineties if your playing poor you dropped no matter who you are

Simmo is always placing the blame on our younger players who are having a crack, but our senior players are forever injured and coming back in underdone. Maybe it’s the over reliance on injury prone former “stars” over 30 Simmo?

id be looking at the medical and training coaches, how is that half the wafl team and half the afl team have injuries. that's not coincidence. list management is shocking so they need to go too, eagles shouldn't be relying on undeveloped players to fill in the spots and expect them to even put up a challenge to coordinated teams.

What rubbish. He has been picking young guys for the past 2 years even when they weren't up to it. Remember early in the year he went straight for Ginbey Long... and then Hewit and Chesser. There were better players in the squad than 3 of those guys, until injury took hold. Simmo is holding off bringing guys back too early. That's why Cripps MCGov Cole and co didn't come straight back. What's the point in them breaking down again. But the youngsters and guys that have played each week will drop off as the year goes on. Some of them don't have the physical capability to play full time in some of their roles and being kids they'll drop away.

Simmo is on $800k a year and looking at future employment for another 12 years say. So money, pride and respect is a consideration. I don't barrack for my employer. A coach has far more connection to the place and players.

One thing we all know is draft picks are important, how we use them also. Has to be some not too serious,but realistic soul searching from the Club. That's the whole Club. A long group chat and then build positively not negatively and realistically Go Forward. We all know it's going to take time. But I'm always an Eagles Supporter. We gotta have some bad times to be prepared for the good times.

Its bizarre when he gets questions about what he's going to do about players that don't perform, He can't drop them. He has to keep picking guys regardless of their form, and they have to keep playing in major on-field roles. 2-3 guys playing WAFL each week ensures that. Two of them are 18 year olds and aren't prepared for AFL yet. I would like critics to be more specific about players who aren't performing in specific cases and name names. Too often the shock jocks just target the coach and a star player that is actually giving his all. But don't mention other specific players by name or highlight errors, mainly because its not as exciting a headline. People in Victoria don't care about a handful of fringe players not giving their all, or guys that aren't as well known. So I reckon if they reckon guys aren't being competitive in winning the ball, then name names and give examples.

Those players had broken pre seasons and have just come back from injuries, the 6 teens aren't ready for AFL and the squad hasn't had enough players to train match sim which is extremely important but there aren't any options at the moment he hasn't got anyone to choose from. He did say it was going to get worse before it got better and nobody listened as per usual

Obviously too big a margin. But Hunt wasn't a regular at MFC but has been good for us. Gaff and Darling have both struggled this year. So its a pointless comment. You need a solid team of 23 players. Its not basketball where you can dominate with a handful of stars.

WC's Entitled Club Attitude has been prevalent for 10 years. The Flag in 2018 just enabled the Entitled Attitude & Delusion to permeate through every millimetre of the club moreso, through the essence of the club. Our list management incompetence is staggering. Senior Highly Paid Management & Players using the club as a lifestyle bank....while failing to deliver each week, each season! Senior highly paid players all stealing a paycheque, never dropped & never held to account under Simpson. S&C is phenomenally inept. The 2020 Hub Attitude told us all we need to know, the lip dropping, the whinging, the "woe is me i'm oh so hard done by having to leave home for a month or 2." Attitude to interstate travel is appalling and weak. Giving 2yrs to NN last year is pure abrogation of duty by Nisbett & Gavin "wtaf" Bell, same Guv's extension. Those 2 are cooked. NN, Guv, Shuey, Gaff, Sheed, Cole, Witherden, Petrol, Exxon, Darling are not AFL standard....and certainly do not warrant large salaries. Rioli's contract should have been terminated after the Darwin Airport fiasco. He shafted the club after the club gave him how many chances? Our Contested Ball is exceptionally embarrassing.....has been for many years as has our tackling pressure. Nisbett....25years!!!...seriously???...should have been gone 10-15 years ago. Asleep at the wheel far too comfortable. Only person marking Trev's work is Trev!! Why do we have so many staff that are not top level? Too many jobs for pals, mates & family.....nepotism in play. The Board needs a clean out.....because they are the ones who have the levers to make significant change. Club Management have been letting these substantial issues fester for a decade, and now the infection is in runaway mode. WC for many many years have lacked Performance Accountability, & now the club & supporters are paying for that lack of professional Governance. Nowadays West Coast Eagles are all about Virtue Signalling, Wokeism & pushing far left Socialist, Divisive ideologies like the Voice. We use to be a Professional Football Club. We used to compete. They were great days.
