Hi Warren, This is a compliment! I hope you got plenty of family/kids around you to read them bedside stories, your voice and personality is cool so even with the odd naughty word. Cheers

Reminds me of a story my dad told me while he was working on a dozer or road grader (forget which).. Had some giant nut to take off, had his gas powered air compressor and his 1" impact wrench.... He just kept cranking the pressure regulator up on the compressor until they hit 200psi, and it finally got the bolt off. Good times.

My brother stayed in the navy for 26 years and made 0-6. We used to get all our torque wrenches and electronic test analyzers calibrated thru him and the good old navy. I want to thank them for saving us thousands over the years. Oh yeah, I was in for 4 1/2 years.

Some times I take a rachet tiedown strap and pull the hoses out of the way so you can get to them, some times you got to pull some loss. Great video thanks.

Warren, There ain't a damn thing wrong with your tool organization! I worked at Boeing with a lot of guys whose #1 job seemed to be "organizing!" Funny how they never got much work done. I like your style!

This is the story of why I always bring a hammer to work on hydraulics. I worked at a Volvo Construction equipment dealership and a company traded in a Volvo L 90 H which is a midsize loader for those who don’t know. It came with an auxiliary hose hooked up for an attachment, could’ve been a snowblower, broom, high-tilt bucket, I don’t know. I didn’t get much information, but this hose didn’t go to anything so it was just an open line and it hadn’t been removed probably since they got the loader. The fitting had corroded on there and I had a bit of a task up ahead. This machine couldn’t be moved until the auxiliary had been capped off because oil spilled everywhere when the machine is on because it was just a dangling hose. My foreman didn’t want the little hose that adapted from the Volvo hydraulics to whatever attachment they had. It was about 12” long. Anyway, I’m about 165 pounds at 6’5” so I’m not light but I’m not huge. I’m light for my height. The hose was about 1.5 inches or more so I didn’t have a wrench big enough to fit on the fitting which was probably around 2 inches. So I get my big!adjustable and I borrow a wrench from my coworker and I am bouncing on this wrench to try to break the fitting loose. It was cold and it wasn’t supposed to be a long job. On the service order it says “Take dangling hose off and cap line” so it sounds like a 10 minute job. I’m now 20 minutes in trying to break the fitting loose. At one point the wrench slipped off and I hit my knuckles and I was getting pissed. Naturally I went to my mentor and also my coworker who happens to be around 350 pounds to try to break it loose. He takes one look at the fitting and goes and grabs a hammer. Not a big on, only a 24oz hammer. He hits the fitting on the edge of a face where you put a wrench on and I watch the fitting loosen as he hit it. Tap tap, two hits and it’s loose. He cracked a smile, looked at me and said “yeah that was really tight wasn’t it?” From that day on I always bring a hammer to work on hydraulics.

That same method was shown to me under similar circumstances, a bit of a life saver when doing repairs in the field.

Hammers & vibration can work wonders. In the same vein, my father and I were trying to remove a balljoint from the knuckle of our 91 suburban I think. The hydraulic press was just flexing the knuckle, so we resorted to pounding on the ball joint with the air hammer instead.... Wasn't moving much, then I grabbed a hammer to pound on the side while my dad ran the air hammer... Finally started pushing the POS out. I would've never thought of that had he not taught me how a hammer can help loosen things that way. We already had the air hammer on it, but adding some impact from a different direction was what we needed to turn the tide!

Pulling your guts out one day will catch up to you. I'm not a big guy either and worked pulling on pipe for almost 30 years. When I turned 50 I really started feeling the cost. A triple hernia, shoulders are shot now and lifting and pulling on something almost makes me piss my pants. When I was young I could wad myself up in a tight spot and pull and push until I got the job done but now the old Charlie horses will wad me up and I can't hardly unfold myself. Talk about hurt, it take days to get over that shit. All the respect for the guy that gets their hands dirty and leaks a little red stuff on about every job,

just thought of something. The wrecker company could go get the equipment now. Take it to their yard. Then the trucking dispatch could send the truck to the yard, might work better.

I suggested this before so im going to bother you again. Get a large plastic bin from walmart and keep it near so that you can drop all the tools you use and parts you remove into it. the parts stay clean and in one place as do the tools and when you are finished the tools can easily be put back into the truck bins.

all ya'll have to do with that auction tractor back east, is get ahold of a truck dispatcher, a heavy lift truck dispatcher, and the trucker will drive it on the truck himself, IF IT RUNS. EASY PEASY.
@westerntruckandtractorrepa13535 жыл бұрын
Doesn't run.
@PaulHigginbothamSr5 жыл бұрын
@@westerntruckandtractorrepa1353 SO here is the process. the owner, with his credit card in his hand, calls a heavy lift truck dispatcher. He gets a time for when a truck is available at the location. He gets an exact time the trucker will arrive. He then calls the local area wrecker towing company, and they have to get to the auction site, when the trucker arrives. the wrecker tows the equipment on to the truck, but he must pay all this before hand.
