Jud Logan (July 19, 1959 - January 3, 2022) was a hammer thrower, highly decorated athlete and a 4 time Olympian. He competed in the 1984, 1988, 1992 and the 2000 Olympic Games. In 1987 he won gold in the Pan American Games. In the 1980's, as his strength began to stagnate, his East German friends advised him to push his box jumps. As his improved his box jumps, his throws began increasing. Box jumps are still a staple in Westside training to this day. Louie and Tom discuss Jud's time at Westside, the effectiveness of box jumps, the importance of explosive power and more in todays episode.
Some of the topics discussed are:
Future of USA Weightlifting
What makes China so strong?
Powerlifting for Weightlifting
Weightlifting for Powerlifting
And more!

Louie Simmons is widely regarded as the 'Strength Coaches, Strength Coach' and is the founder of the world-renowned gym called Westside Barbell in Columbus, Ohio.
Westside Barbell is an invitation-only training laboratory where only the strongest of mind and body survive. Our goal is simple: “To become the best and push every boundary known to man in doing so.”
This gym has produced more world records in powerlifting than any other in the World, and Louie has been regarded as one of the main reasons that the conjugate style of training has been popularized in today's training methods.
Outside of powerlifting, Louie is a strength consultant for many NFL, NBA, MBA teams, along with having trained gold medal sprinters, pro boxers, UFC fighters, and many more athletes out of his gym via the conjugate method of strength training.

this knowledge is unmatched. Greatly appreciate all the content you share with us but its sad that it is rare and not frequently. I would really apprecitate a long winded in detail video from Louie about conjugate programming for absolute beginners who start from scratch. How he manipulates dynamic effort for example to learn technique properly etc. how beginners should max effort, how to work up to max weights, how to build gpp from scratch, everything. that would be awesome. thanks guys

So a decathlete does not need to sprint, jump and throw on the track and field? Just lift weights and drag/push the sled and then just use the track at competitions? Do I understand this correctly? Did Louie write a book regarding how to train for decathlon?
