Joseph Rhodenhiser Ford was building a new body, what if he 3D printed a replacement that she shot in the head, or 3D printed a new body for himself so he could transfer his consciousness into, making himself immortal, a.k.a. The God of his own world!

The Irony is the Maze actually does work as an ultimate 'quest' for William. What does he find at the centre of the Maze? his true love, sentient, free willed, alive and whole, still young after all those years and still deeply in love with him. Unfortunately his journey has made him a monster...

I think a part of William is happy they've reached consciousness because it was Dolores' inability to reach consciousness and remember him that broke his heart and made him a monster. I don't think he did it FOR her consciously, but subconsciously he's set the woman he loves free.

there is a good reason why Ford was not killed not the real ford, remember when William Threatened Ford in Front of Teddy in the saloon? Teddy is programmed to protect Ford NO MATTER WHAT, in that end scene, Teddy saw Dolores going at him and did nothing, so it means Teddy didn't detect any harm to the real Ford, Teddy would have done something.

Tim Thompson Well, I've seen comments where those hosts were called Chinamen or ninjas, which means either a) they are ignorant or b) trolls baiting people who should know better. It's up in the air what we will get to see about other parks, but it would make sense to place the hosts in an era where anybody could become samurai, and were bad at it, thus easy to kill, or confront them with more advanced weapons.

Why did NO ONE recognize that Bernard looked exactly like Arnold? I know Ford said when they started it was just the two of them, but Arnold had to be a pretty well known inventor. In this day and age everyone has some level of fame. It seems hard to believe that not a single person, even 30 years later, would have caught on.
@brandonreed09
@brandonreed09 8 жыл бұрын
Kevin Israel A few reasons. Arnold isolated himself in the park with the hosts. Ford got his partners after Arnold's death to agree to wiping all data and pictures of Arnold from the park's records. It doesn't seem like any of the people at Westworld are old enough to have been around when Arnold was.

12:50 I believe that Maeve got off the train following Ford's script as well. Bernard wanted to tell her something before she interrupted him and said "no one controls me". I think he wanted to tell her that she won't escape after all.
@brandonreed09
@brandonreed09 8 жыл бұрын
Max Rovensky No. He was in the middle of telling her what she would do when she reached the mainland. He was saying Mainland when she interrupted him. She was supposed to go directly from the train to the mainland. She diverted from her programming to retrieve her daughter.

***** We can't see the conditions of the if/then statement. It may have nothing to do with her daughter or the paper. Its left ambiguous.
@Alanoursl
@Alanoursl 8 жыл бұрын
I think Maeve gained consciousness and broke out of her script to escape the park. The pain of leaving her daughter is what pushed her over the edge of consciousness. Ford hoped this would happen. He wants Maeve to manage the park in his absence, just like she managed the in-park brothel.
@samo131
@samo131 8 жыл бұрын
I think this one memory, that every robot in the park has, keeps them in park, so they can't escape. It emotionally binds them to the world. But that's just an idea.
@OllieX123
@OllieX123 8 жыл бұрын
In the script Bernard passed to her, the IF/LET functions were deciding her behaviour based on which mode she was in. According to that script there was infoview mode (where it told her to "bypass" her narrative, "recruit" other hosts and "escape") and destination mode (where it told her to "exit", "target the train" and "Mainland infilitration") along with probably several other modes we don't know. Since she already demonstrated she was in both or either of these two modes by bypassing her narrative, recruiting hosts, trying to escape, targeting the train and wanting to reach mainland; based on this I believe Maeve did demonstrate sentience and her own free will to leave the train as it contradicted both these modes.

What's really missing and what the real one point is that confuses me is .. what was and what wasn't part of Ford's new narrative. in Episode 10 we see a romantic death scene with Dolores and Teddy on the beach .. before that, the MiB stabbed her. Then, on the beach, the hosts get paused, the lights go on and Ford received applause ... But I don't understand, was the MiB stabbing Dolores planned?!? And Dolores (almost?) breaking his arm and beating the shit out of the MiB as well? What exactly is Ford's new narrative?

I'm pretty sure Maeve was SUPPOSED to come back. I don't think Ford wanted her to really leave the park, so he programmed the change of heart, Also, Bernard mentioned something like that when he told her he saw the script, but she became angry and told him that she doesn't want to hear the end.

Could be. And it could be that the "mainland" is really messed up. I like it that all possibilities are on the table, even that there may be no humans left, only robots playing an elaborate game of hosts vs. guests. Sooner or later, though, reveals have to come.

Maeve's decision is probably not based upon her daughter, but the other "children" walking around in the parks: the hosts. The hosts are getting more conscious and Maeve is already grown up. To get away from the park would mean that she would have to live in secrecy, always on her guard in a probably violent environment with no one to trust. To go back to the park would be to help the other hosts gain consciousness, to help the mental children to become full adults and to start the fight from within Westworld. It's the choice between being alone and being with her kind. She chooses her kind, indeed her first true choice ever.

It's important to remember that the dinner party at the end included the entire Delos board of directors. If the hosts plan to take over the parks, the smartest move would be taking them hostage since it would largely paralyze the company's ability to respond.

I think the other parks will be used extensively to setup extra narratives, in order to extend the series further. They've supposedly got 5 seasons already written, and since the hosts are already rebelling, there are going to have to be many plots and subplots to keep it interesting.

I loved the slipping in of other "worlds/parks" I certainly am excited for the next season. And I felt proud of myself when I predicted to a friend weeks ago that Wyatt was Delores. It was mostly based on Teddy saying firmly that to undo his past mistakes and so that he would deserve Delores he would need to kill Wyatt, and I knew how poetic it would be to have them be one and the same... because there has to be the inner struggle. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually Teddy turns on Delores when he realises that she's full blown evil.

Maybe Maeve didn't actually gain true consciousness. I'm thinking she actually IS still running that script. Maybe "Mainland infiltration" involves her going back into westworld after being a distraction, recruiting all the hosts including her daughter, then going back into the mainland and taking over the entire planet.

Okay, but we are never made aware of the state of the future technology that is available outside the park. Will the bullet-hole in Ford's head be easily repaired at the nearest medical emergency room? Are there other people in the world working on sentient computers? Also why would the "man in black" suggest the need for "real consequences" when these are easily available outside the park? Then there are the weird questions such as why Ford had Bernard shoot himself when he would be quickly repaired? Also why did the techs Felix and Sylvester follow Maeve's orders?

I'm trying to brush up on all of the details from season 1 after watching season 2 episode 1, and one thing that I haven't seen pointed out, that connects to the maze concept, is the name "Dolores." From the word "dolor" for pain/distress/sorrow. Maybe it's just incredibly obvious & that's why nobody mentions it (or maybe I haven't watched Enough videos). I just think it's really fitting and poetic for the character.
