Hi Tom, Thanks for taking the time to make the video! I may try that main-sheet mod. Re the jib-sheet angle. The old rule of thumb was that it pointed at the mid-point of the luff. With high aspect jibs, like the Weta, it is considered to be okay if the jib-sheet angle is higher - 66%+. If you sail in 20 kts regularly I could understand bringing the block back as you have suggested. As a lake sailor, the wind range tends to be lighter. But I take your point re the twist in the jib.

I try not to sail if the wind is less than 15kts, so being able to pull more on the foot is important to me. But at the same time, I have not given up the ability to pull more on the leech - I can still obtain an angle that points at 60+ degrees up the luff. With the factory supplied position, I could get any lower than about 60 degrees. The range of adjustment is better, in my opinion, with the blocks a little further back than as supplied.

Tom, Thanks for all the Weta videos. I'm planning on buying one soon and will incorporate mods; did they change any of this on the 2015 update? Weta should put you on their payroll. :)

To my knowledge the boat is largely unchanged, as it must be in order to remain a one-design class. But don't worry - it's a fine boat as is. Owners may wish to tune and tweak a few things to their liking, but you can sail it nicely right out of the box.

What did you use to pad the center of the main hull. It looks like shower matting or something similar.

It's commonly known as hydro-turf or sea deck. They're all similar. Close cell foam, long wearing. It allows the sand and grit to pass down into the channels and keep your feet from abrading on the otherwise rough, sand strewn deck. Good stuff.

@@garycampbell6771 www.hydroturf.com/ Spend the extra $20 and get the self adhesive type. It sticks like mad and won't come up, ever. Must easier to install than with the contact cement method.
