Eh, I preferred Alice Cooper in Jason Lives. And I used to hate "He's Back" because the lyrics were so on-the-nose about Jason that I used to cringe at how cheesy it was. But I grew to love it for its cheesiness. "Darkest Side of the Night" just seemed dull to me and lacked energy for a song that is probably meant to hype me up for a slasher movie.

I remember wanting to see this SO BAD when they showed the tv spots when it was released! Loved it when I saw it on video back in the day, but upon research over the years, it's pretty bad even for this series. But Jason's mask does look cool with the glowing and I like his black gloves.

The only way the backstory makes any sense is if you think of the Jason that attacked her in the water is the same hallucination she's been having since getting on the ship. That or it was Jason who was chained up after part 6. She'd have been a girl around the time Tina from part 7 was and so he'd have been down there chained up.

The biggest problem with this movie for me is that it barely delivered what it promised, all the advertising, all the posters, everything told us that the movie would be Jason in Manhattan, not one thing about a boat, making us think it would just be Jason going on a rampage through New York, but no, more than an hour on a boat, barely any New York. The stupid hallucinations the main girl has of Jason get on my nerves. And in them he was a normal looking kid with hair even though as a kid he was bald and deformed just like he is as an adult. And the film seems to imply that it was nearly drowning that made him deformed when really he was deformed before he nearly drowned. He was born that way. All the main characters are boring, Jason's look sucks especially when he's unmasked, he only ends up going to New York because he gets on the boat to investigate why it's on the lake and kill everyone for disturbing him and it sets sail while he's still on it. In a flashback when Rennie's evil uncle pushes her into the lake to try and teach her to swim she hallucinates Jason as a little boy in the lake even though he'll have been a grown man at the time that took place. And the stupid ending where he gets washed away by toxic waste and she hallucinates him as a normal looking little boy again although at that point you could explain that as her clear craziness being made worse by the drug dealers who were going to rape her getting her high. IMO the toxic waste washed him back up to Crystal Lake which is why he's back there when the FBI blow him up at the start of Jason Goes to Hell.

Pretty much. First and second are classic. I actually like 3 for various reasons. 4 is arguably the best of the original first few Jason films. I like part V despite all the hate it gets. 6 is my favorite of the franchise. 7's cool, best looking Jason, and Kane Hodder finally takes the role. Then comes 8 and it feels so mediocre after the last couple that came. Don't even get me started on Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X.

Because according to the filmmakers, New York City in the 80's was nothing but filthy alleys with barrels of toxic waste everywhere and drugged-up muggers around every corner. Apparently, the New York Tourism Committee had a big problem with that poster of Jason slashing through an "I ❤ NY" sign because they were concerned that it would make people afraid to visit NYC. But the movie itself does a far worse job making it look like a horrible, disgusting, dangerous place to live, even without Jason.

I first saw this movie around Halloween 1993, when I was 4. It was the first Friday 13th I ever saw. My brother rented it for him and his girlfriend to watch because they had to babysit me when my parents went out for the night, so while they went into his room and fooled around they just left the movie playing for me to watch. My brother took the clicker with him and he turned the volume up really loud, so I wouldn't hear him and his girlfriend fucking and I sat there shitting my pants, scared to death the whole time. I remember not wanting the dog to die, that's all I cared about was the dog, the best actor in the movie. LOL But by the time I was 7 I was begging my Mom to rent the other Parts so I could see them. Usually one of my brothers or my Dad ended up renting it for me LOL. Terminator, Alien and Predator franchises we're getting old. I was watching them every other night. I really wanted to go back and see all the other 7 Parts. So this movie's pretty nostalgic for me, even though I Fuckin hate it, it's one of the worst Friday the 13ths. It sucks so bad. I remember realizing how bad it was when I was younger, especially after seeing Parts 1-4 and seeing how awesome they were.

A remake of JTM could be fun if done right. Personally I think Jason needs to stay in the woods near camp crystal lake. Mother probably wouldn't be to happy with him wandering off like that. For real though I think it would be cool if they did something where Jason stalked a group of buddies on a hunting trip near camp crystal lake. That could be fun because for one the hunters are already armed.

The only way I can accept Part 8, and enjoy it is by choosing to believe that Rennie was just bat shit crazy. Jason never attacked her in the lake when she was a kid, she just hallucinated that he did because her uncle had just told her the story of Jason, and since she couldn't swim she panicked, and imagined him actually down there. When you choose to view the movie like that it's a lot better.
