I just got my WF M4 buds after about a month's wait for them to come in and all I can say is WOW. I am blown away at how well these little things work. Up until now I've been using my Bose Quiet Comfort 35 over ear which I have been pleased with and were used every day but not any more. I can't believe it but these buds out perform the Bose 35 in every way, well worth the wait and $$$.

I just returned them because the volume of these left a lot to be desired. I hated turning them on and wanting to put the volume up, and they were already on MAX. Plus, sound quality changed between low volume and max volume.

Sony is like the only other non-Samsung Android manufacturer left so they need to make a tablet just so Samsung will have competition from both Apple and Sony... Competition forces companies to make better products and I would love to see some high quality Android tablets wherever it comes from... the same can be said for smartwatches... here's to hoping they can release something crucial in the tablet and/or smartwatch space in the next few years!

Hi Jason - they should be giving you way better noise cancellation than the Apple ones. All I can think of is to make sure you've done the test to get the perfect fitting tips. The combination of the perfect fit and the noise cancelling on top of that is what makes this so incredible... Going back and forth between ambient mode and noise cancelling mode should be like night and day...

I really think i wont miss the multi-device bluetooth link at all. I currently have that enabled on my Airpods Pro and I have been in some awkward situations when the active link changes from my iPhone to my iPad when it shouldn’t… (usually in a place I’m not supposed to make noise). It’s horrible and awkward. It’s better to know that your headphones are connected to that device and to that device only, so it wont switch to normal speakers. There are plenty of apps that, unlike KZbin or Spotify, do not stop broadcasting media if your audio output settings are changed.

If you are keeping them, it might be worth getting custom tips moulded to the shape of your ear. I got Adv-sound moulds for my Fiio FH-7. Sound doesn’t change but the fit and comfort improve significantly. Only thing is the bud will sit a little further out of your ear, but very secure and safe from dropping

There are lots of third party eartips available for all earphones. I notice that audiophiles will usually replace stock silicone tips with Dekoni foam tips. These come with foam tips, but I bet you could find some wing tips if you looked around some. Just try to figure out if the diameter is large enough for it to fit on the earbud.

I’ve only used them briefly. With ANC on yes there is a tiny bit of white noise. But the room has to be silent for you to notice. In fairness as these are in ear I think you notice more anyway.

It's amazing how they eliminate white noise. It actually freaked me out how good they are at that. Even on a plane they did an astonishingly good job for the form factor! Very very impressive

Help. Are mine broken or am I going deaf? I wear these with the volume turned up to maximum on my iPhone and they're not loud enough nor imposing. I haven't tried fiddling with the graphic equaliser yet and maybe that will help but I was hugely disappointed. Maybe I've got a duff pair?

Hi John. Once you've dialled in the sound settings you will be very happy with the sound settings. I personally really enjoy proper punchy bass, and the difference once I'd set them up (Vs straight out of the box settings) was huge. That said, I have heard people wanting more volume, and that can be done too... But the overall volume is limited by (EU?) safety standards. This can be overridden and you can get info on that from the Walkman blog. Personally I like to stay within the pre-set volume levels because I want to try and safeguard my long-term hearing. So if i could save 180 euro's by buying the c500 buds instead of the xm4's that would be great for me. These replaced my pixel buds on my pixel 5. The ANC is impressive, the sound is great. I was very surprised how comfortable they are, I didn't expect them to be as compared to the pixel buds which for my ear where a perfect fit but these are close to the same and I don't get ear fatigue or pain which is a huge plus. The app works well also, even on the android 12 betas, so far no issues. I agree on the 5 start review, I really love these very much. I agree with the minus of the multi BT support, that would make them perfect.

Really love mine with some caveats: 1) I wish the touch controls were more customizable, 2) sometimes I have to take a bud out of my ear because it isn't immediately recognized. 100% agree on multi-point bluetooth. My Jabra 75t had multi-point, plus the controls customization is much better. Sound is great. Stays in my ears when running. Love the batter life. ANC is good (but not a primary for me). The app crashes on launch about 1 in 5 times. I've had them from launch day.

If you are missing multipoint on iOS, creating shortcuts on my iPhone and iPad with a single tap I am able to pair to either device.

Open Shortcuts, create new, Set playback destination to WF-1000XM4. Note make sure the earbuds are already paired with the device before creating the shortcut. Also I named the shortcut on my iPhone XM4 iPhone and on my iPad XM4 iPad (not sure if same would work on both). It creates a shortcut which I then dragged to my 1st primary app screen.

Have to agree with you Tom, these are 9/10 for me, so good..... My only issue is the fit, which as you say, doesn't feel as "locked in" as some buds with "tips" or "wings" which would be appreciated for running and listening when lying down.... I'm very happy though 😊

Love your videos. I fell in love with many things Japanese when I got dumped into a Japanese class in middle school. It was thrown together as an overflow class, but ended up being one of the most memorable classes of my childhood. I want to be a sony fan, but am sadly falling into the category of disillusioned. I planned on the sony erricson xperia x10 being my first smartphone, but the delayed release, outdated software, and lack of multi-touch support pushed me to the samsung captivate. Now just over 10 years later, I have money in hand for a 1m3, and release delays and the price increase are pushing me away. I'm holding out to July 1 to see if they bundle in the xm4's, which may make the $100 price increase for the phone more palatable. If not, I sadly won't be a sony owner, again. Either way, can't wait for your 1m3 review.

Thanks so much for your comment. I completely understand your point of view and for what it's worth I share it. I find it enormously frustrating these delays. For lots of reasons. And they keep on happening! If you're able to wait I have a feeling you'll be happy you did, but I completely respect anyone who is unable or unwilling to wait. I most certainly wouldn't blame them for moving on. Regarding the Japanese stuff, that's going to be the most fun part of this project. I've been invited by some Sony employees to Tokyo and I cannot wait to do videos from there. The trip has been postponed twice due to covid but I'm hoping I can go at the end of this year. No unless you get a Bluetooth dongle. On PS5 you won’t get the 3D audio so I wouldn’t recommend it for playing on PS4/5

I recomend you to change the ear tips. I had the same issue, then I switch the ear tips for a Comply ones and the ear pain's gone!

I just bought myself a pair, and funny enough the guy at the store showed me the headphones instead of the earbuds. That's how confusing their labelling is, come on Sony. Great vid as always, keep it up.

Ive got a pair of these had them 3 days now. The battery is only lasting 3 hours on the right earbud the left still has 47 percent battery when they turn off.

Is there a trade off between battery life and multi-point bluetooth? Otherwise, why omit that capability? My current W1000x Sony's are very nice but switching from laptop to phone is slow and unreliable (to the point where I have 2 sets to avoid the hassle). The WF1000XMF4 is very attractive provided it switches more easily between devices as part of the new bluetooth standard.

I tried them a bit but the fit is better on Galaxy Buds Pro, and multipoint + volume adjustment is avilable on the Huawei Freebuds Pro so I wish some day all those smartphone companies collaborate and make the best earbuds in the world.

I confirm after listening to an apple airpod pro. Less dynamic and power, less clarity on high frequencies. The sound is much more round than the airpod pro and less confortable. For everyday use , confort, power, clarity i recommend the air pod pro. I am an audiophile addict and i truly recommend to listen before to buy these earbuds that are not perfect in term of sound at all as the video and every other reviews said... They are not as "wow" as it is being said. If you listen at quite low volume and you like round type of sound... Like clear but not crystal clear and need an excellent ANC (good confort for long time listening but not physically confortable in ear) then go to the sony. Otherwise if you prefer clear sound with good and deep bass too... Good voices, instrument with high power and dynamic.... You should go to apple (better confort but the crystal clear sound at high volume is fatiguing)

I would buy these in a heartbeat but I've heard some problems with the call quality. If they fix that I'll get them. Maybe they'll even be a bit cheaper or they'll be bundled with the 5 iii.

I totally feel you about bose fit. It's just perfect I can listen 24/7 and not feel ear fatigue or feel like it's there. Even apple AirPods pro is locked in and feels good. Those style buds tho, I tried the Samsung one and I always felt that it might fall off when walk or something so I returned them. Do you think you can wear those for a long time and not get fatigued?

Yes I could have these in all day I reckon. Just had them in on a flight from Miami to London and the noise cancelling works so well that I don't feel like I need to have the WH over-ear design anymore! Have these in practically the entire flight, never uncomfortable - amazing really! Of they had a similar wing type extension, like the Bose I'd feel better about their ability to stay in my ears, even during exercise

I returned mine. AirPods Pro are a good fit for me but it starts to hurt a little maybe after 3-4 hours of wear but these sonys I couldn't wear for more than 30mins even with the smallest tips. it also doesn't sit on the ear nicely either so depending on your ear shape it might look ridiculous looking from front it flares out. I also feel it looks bigger in person than I have seen in videos idk maybe because I got the grey one. but the sound quality.. oh boy it sounds amazing! but if I can't wear it for more than 30 mins no point so sadly had to return mine

I got these for Xmas as my summer sounds and they are brilliant for size sound and quality and features .. only gripe is they are nit a perfect fit confidence .. they are the earbud version of my qc35 ii which I hate wearing on hot days .. these step up for me
