Sheriff Judd was my professor in college when he was a Major with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. I have worked in government and in private practice in the legal system and can unequivocally say that he is demonstrative of precisely what we need in law enforcement, governance and leadership. My all time favorite, was during the press release about the killer who was shot many times. The reporter asked why he was shot x number (I forgot the #, seems like 70 or 80 times). The Sheriff answered that the team ran out of bullets. Another case a few years later he was asked how many times they shot this guy and the Sheriff answered "Enough". I think that was the guy on a bike that overpowered two deputies and shot them. One was able to return fire.

Im not sure what makes you think that something such as wrongful incarceration is ubiquitous, but I can tell you right now that your statement is flat out ridiculous. This country isn't perfect. He is also pro-Second Amendment which is refreshing. When I gas up my car, I lock it up, keep the keys in my pocket and check my surroundings. It only takes seconds to lose your car. If I am approached, they are going to be challenged when they pull on the door handle and find it's locked. Meanwhile, I will be out of sight calling 911! Low cost tracking devices are available online and I highly recommend their purchase. This will enable to law enforcement to locate your car and with luck, the thieves! The faster you recover your vehicle, the better the chances of getting it back intact. I would disinfect my vehicle if it were ever stolen and recovered in tack, that is for sure!

The Sheriff doesn’t even know the law. You can’t use deadly force when someone is stealing your property! The way he explained it, the victim who pulled the gun, was inside the store when he saw the suspect trying to steal his car. The sheriff said the victim would have been justified in shooting him. No he would not! And as far as a string of felonies. It is not “leaving the scene of a hit and run” (one car property damage) to walk to the nearest gas station! The sheriff inferred he was “fleeing from a hit and run” accident. No he was not! Better check the law Grady you incompetent goof. Research a driver’s legal obligations when involved in a one car property damage accident. And the “Mind ya business” comment by the dear Sheriff is eerily reminiscent of the Jim Crow South.

Then when he answers all of that reporters questions, the reporter then asked why they are not wearing masks. Showing that he was after anything he could smear them with. He's either right or wrong, and it's hard to tell I've heard the bit about its the toality of the situation as whole. The whole thing from the initial hit and run to the eventual arrest is considered the same event. And sometimes if there were felonies before the perp reaches you you'd be justified in shooting. Like if it all happens within the commission of a felony or felonies What's confusing is that the cop keeps saying he was committing armed burglary. I don't get it. If the guy was in the gas station and the perp went up to steal his car it doesn't seem justified to shoot him. The victim wasn't even around Would be very curious to know if the sheriff is correct
