Not many people know of Andrew Weil, so not many people search, find & watch him. The man is a genius..It’s such a shame that this kind of information isn’t actively promoted..it’s almost as if this stuff is being deliberately suppressed/withheld from the masses

I think the likes have to do with the fact that it is as a speaker at a forum. You will find the videos with his name in them have many more likes and some even over a million views. His books are also very popular with over 10 million sold. I first heard of him before we had the internet so it is nice to see he has not given up on sharing his views. Many people are uncomfortable with a doctor that questions lifestyle and what they eat, ie holding themselves accountable, and would prefer the 'give me a pill method' For that reason the concepts are not yet mainstream ideas...in the US. While many would like to blame it on pharma my friends who are doctors find patients shut down when they introduce lifestyle, dietary issues, or even a therapist check. We often are our own worst enemies and pass that on to others.

So thankful to learn of this man years ago. I've read some of his books and searched out blended medicine doctors since. I also had the opportunity to live in Hong Kong and consider it my #1 choice for care. Western and Chinese medicine is often in the same clinic. When I bring what is considered my routine annual physical back to the US the doctors are amazed at what is considered important in monitoring my health. So much of healthcare, even gyms or activities are based more on capitalism than the consumer. I've never had a visit to a dr in HK without and inquiry (almost a quiz) on my diet. It is not only the companies he mentions but also our everyday citizens/politicians who own stock in those entities.

I learned a complex system of breathing exercises generally called ‘pranayama’ in India. Originally taught by Shiva 1000s of years ago, breathing techniques are quite effective at treating many serious diseases. One of those methods is correctly taught by Dr. Weil in this video. Pranayama is best when combined with yoga and a very healthy diet but it does wonders alone as well.

This man is wonderful. 8/2021: A GI surgeon told me that I have a serious problem and said I needed surgery. I had researched the surgery and told him "I was concerned about possible side effects of changing the structure of my stomach therefore, I've got some things I want to try". 9/2021: I remembered from 20 years ago, "the gut is the backbone to your health". I'm 90% sure the author was/is Dr Andrew Weil. So, I focused very tightly on that thought (like a dog with a bone). Stopped all processed sugar, incorporated fresh foods (dark leafy greens, broccoli, fruits, salmon, chicken breast, nuts, flaxseeds, garlic. Within 2 months I was off prescription BP medication (that drug created constant muscle spasms) and the acid reflux was reduced. A positive side effect = I dropped 20 lbs. Sooo. . . I feel as though I've gotten my life back. I love that Dr. Weil brings awareness to stretching, walking, breathing, nature and mental health. One exercise I am hoping to become addicted to is "Qi Gong" (Lee Holden). With great respect to Dr. 💓Weil. from Kentucky.

I do 100 percent agree with this viewpoint on integrative medicine. However you are missing the human factor in that many want the easy way out, no effort on my part, just give me a pill attitude. Its rampant in my local community. When people ask me how I turned my health around I tell them through emotional healing, adherence to healthy eating, meditation and a regular exercise routine. They turn their noses up and say, that's too much work or I not going to stop eating my favourite foods. So its also educating people to own their own health that is the place to start.

Integrative Medicine already exists. What I understand that you are speaking of, is really for the wealthy and not for the common person. Surely, what we need to look at is a global individual case and not a money making project. We must readdress our whole health systems.

we need to take responsibility for our own health and well being but we have been taught to rely on doctors and the government which in an ideal world would be ok but with the cost of healthcare rising and the general health of the public getting worse, not better it's obvious it's not working so something needs to change. and becoming informed about how your body works what it needs to be healthy and what to avoid.is going to help more than all the doctors and hospitals. the problem is there is so much stuff out there some of which are very grounded and informative while others range from grossly inaccurate to snake oil sellers. so it takes a long time to get a true picture but you can't go wrong with fresh food, good water, fresh air and plenty of rest. not so easy in the environment we a living in.

Personal responsibility is greatly missing. A person who takes risks with his or her health should incur a higher medical cost. Drinking, smoking, not exercising enough, irregular sleep paterns or little sleep, bad parenting and so on are areas where a little discipline could make a big difference.
