That rope swing tree is a staple for me and my brother every summer. Also, if you follow that track all the way through A.H Reed park to the carpark, walk up the road a little bit until you get to the Hatea River Track, follow the river track all the way to the end you will come out in the Town Basin, it's about an hours gentle walk. Whangarei is the only place I know of where you can walk from the suburbs to the centre of town through a forest.

If you like large kauri trees, check out Tane Mahuta in the Waipoua forest not too far from Whangarei. That tree is older than Christianity

you may find it easier to take whareora road to A.H Reed park itself. if you go past the carpark and toilet block to the top of the hill there is a road on the left, approx 100m on the left is a small carpark and a track approx 50m long which brings u out on top of the waterfall

Maybe I'm incorrect on this but I thought Kauri was the worlds hardest wood. Anyone know if this is correct?
@BeingBedingfield Жыл бұрын
That would be very interesting to know, hopefully someone can confirm?

@@BeingBedingfield Unfortunately turns out I was wrong. That was something I'd picked up in my childhood but a thing called "google search" set me straight after I'd posted that comment.
