What a CHANGE! Spice Cabinet Transformation!

I'm so excited to tackle this kitchen project! Years ago, we took an antique china cabinet and repurposed it into a spice cabinet. Now it needs an update. I'm pleased to say that decluttering and organizing make a HUGE difference!

When I was 16 and ready to move out of home ( yes, I marrieed very early and had a baby girl by age 19, who has never not been loved) my Mom took me on a little trip around local sandwich businesses and we asked for empty pickle jars..40 years later they are still my go to for essentials..Flour, beans, lentils, corn..I love the fact that they hold this memory.. 😊❤

I know you prefer not to use store-bought chemical products, but just in case you ever have another large quantity of jars where you need the “sticky” removed… nail polish remover or acetone will do it quickly. Alternatively, dish liquid works well, too, If you run the sticky under hot water and put the dish liquid on it and let it soak for a while. The china cabinet looks amazing!!! ❤️

Hi there! I'm a viewer from Australia. Maybe it's not a readily sourced item in the USA, but in Australia, we use Eucalytpus oil to remove sticky residue from jars and bottles. It works really well - you just need to rub it on - and you only need a tiny bit. Teatree oil also works in a pinch. :)

WD 40 is amazing at removing stickers! Just spray a little on and then get a razor blade to remove the label. Works great.

Looks great. Lemon essential oil will take the sticky off as will Un-Do. I have limited space so I store extra seasonings behind the open ones. Like dried onions behind the onion powder since I use the powder more often. You could store the garlic scape powder behind your garlic salt/powder, chili flakes behind the chili powder, etc. you could also use baskets to corral like items and store them on the bottom shelf. Just some ideas I have used. Great job getting it all done. Cleaning the sticky off all those jars will wear you out.

Just an idea for the spice cabinet. If you want to fit more in the cabinet maybe add some tiers ( like a little shelf) that fit within the cabinet. I have a tiered spice stand in my cabinet. It raises the height of the back ones. Perhaps one of the boys could make a custom fit one. It would still look as neat as you have it, allowing for more jars.

Essential lemon oil will remove the sticky off the jars. You can use it the price tags from thrift stores. 😀

Great job 😊 The spice cabinet looks awesome! I'd be measuring the label location with a ruler 😂😅. I like the room in front to accommodate smaller jars as well. The labels on those jam jars are beastly (I gave up), but they are a good size. Abigail makes me laugh, such a happy kid.

very nice transformation! I soak my jars in super hot soapy water for at least 30mins then use a scraper to get the paper and sticky off, the cheap magic erasers from dollar tree help get rid of the remaining stubborn bit
