This video made me feel much better. I often feel nonfunctional. I'm a parent of a medically fragile/immune suppressed child, plus care for my 93 yr old mom. I can't tell you the last time I was in a grocery store. I have been in a Ross once and Walgreens a couple of times in the last 6 months. Because of our household makeup I rarely get to leave the house and when I do it's super overwhelming. Even riding in a car on major streets is bad. I understand the crying. I'm so proud of you for facing this on your own. You got this gurl!🥰

Many years ago, I stood in a grocery store and cried because I couldn't buy the food to feed my children. My husband earned $47 too much for us to get help from the county, and he refused to ask for help from our church. My parents asked if there was a problem. For years, they helped, and my husband never knew. They were helped out by their patents. "Money is like manure. It should be spread around to help young things grow."

For me, the most anxiety-producing aisle is the one stacked with foil, plastic wrap, and plastic bags. A visual bombardment of bright colors, various products, a plethora of sizes…..all enhanced by the overly bright, unnatural lighting.

Wow - glad I'm not the only one... as a young girl, I would let my mom know what I wanted and stay home on the ranch. Perfectly happy... I'm in my 60's and finally figured out- the flickering over head lights and too much sensory stimulation caused my excruciating headaches. I try to pick times to go to Safeway when there's not many people, too. It helps 😊

Grocery store, pharmacy and a 6month blood work. I was feeling every bit of anxiety you felt. This week I am going to do all of this by myself. It has helped me a lot to see you grow and to know the struggle it is, and how much strength it takes to make each step. Also to know at the end of each trip that I made it and sometimes I cry because i am proud of completing the task. So proud of you every step takes us closer to regaining the confidence to make the next trip. God Bless you and your family.

What a great day! Ashley, I have issues around grocery shop, well kinda shopping in general. I think, as others mention, shopping on line for groceries and then picking up with someone bringing them right to the truck, it’s the best. They can just load them right into the back seat. I have had anxiety/ptsd since 2020. Pick up and delivery has helped immensely. I wish you love, light & a gentle hug.🤗

I went through a time where I could not do groceries. I'd sit out front for an hour or more, watching people going in and out, doing their things. Then I'd go home with nothing.. again. Debilitating anxiety. My friends would do groceries for me. I then got a job doing community based aged care, and grocery shopping with them was part of the job. It forced me to get out of my negative funk that I'm still unsure of where that funk came from.. Good for you Ashley, it's hard and you're doing great ❤

Wish I got the bundle when it was available to start learning all those incredible things. Thank you all for sharing your lives, the good, the bad, the ugly and the truth. Hey Ashley, my anxiety level goes off the charts when I try to leave my home. Inside, I’m ok. Backyard, I’m better than ok. My bedroom… alone, I’m happy and safe and relaxed. I even have trouble with family I like. You can have all the whatever treats you want and tell yourself it’s ok, it’s all in your head, this is stupid, just forget about it cause it’s not real. And then there’s paralysis, sweating, shaking, crying (I ugly cry, so even more embarrassing), talking to yourself such much people watch you looking for an ear bud thingy, bargaining with yourself, asking that higher power for strength just this 1 time, all that fun stuff. For me, I order online for pickup and then send one of my kids. Thanks for sharing the car part. I laughed, cause I totally get it. Be nice to yourself. Hug from a fan.

I didn’t realize how common a problem anxiety at the grocery store was for people. I have had my own issues with shopping. During covid time I had both my knees replaced by artificial joints. This made shopping both before my surgeries and after during my recovery difficult. I’m younger than most people who have knee replacement surgeries so although I don’t look old and frail my body during this time was recovering and that took some time. Even before my surgeries I had significant problems with mobility. Going into places with lots of people was anxiety inducing. I was not imagining when I had people or pranking me in the store a couple of times and and many times just showing annoyance at my presence because I couldn’t get out of their way fast enough. It was refreshing to see that some personal at the stores would be very helpful when they recognized I had mobility issues. If it where not for them I may have started avoiding shopping outside the house permanently. I’m stronger now and can manage getting around large stores without the fear of not being able to complete the shop or getting harassed by impatient self absorbed people.

I don't know why you didn't get the ice cream you'd promised yourself. (Next time maybe skip the sugary drink? Just a thought. Ice cream is the best!) You know, your children may not always do everything exactly the way you hoped they would, but you've got to know what an awesome job you've been doing with them. LOOK at them. Who wouldn't want kids like yours?!!!! Oh, and I just have to say that yes, dogs are in the way consistently--for everybody--until they aren't. I think having pets is pretty much always worth it in the long run. (-;
