Good job young man and great looking set of tools, a sure sign of a real technician! Just an old dudes prospective not criticizing 33 year in the trade, why not take the blower down and work on it in the driveway or even better your shop/garage or somewhere is most comfortable? I’ll be honest I don’t work on equipment much anymore I have techs that do and I’m on them constantly about how they work. Good workers, good techs and I try to protect their knees and back as much as possible. The idea when possible is to get in and out of uncomfortable situations asap. We work hard as it is let not make it any harder than it has to be. Stay safe

Hey there! Thanks for the feedback. Yeah usually I would just pull the whole housing out of the attic but that day was just so hot and humid outside, plus it was on the second floor attic and I didn't feel like lugging it up and down stairs. Tuffing out those 120° temperatures just seem like the lesser of two evils at the time : )

What have made is taking and old blower wheel and removed the hub then weld a 1/2” piece of black pipe to it. then put a rod for a tee handle through the pipe. This can then be tightened to the motor shaft to Facilitate twisting the shaft back and forth to loosen it.

I thought I had a bad bearing in my carrier infinity inducer motor, but have determined the the main blower motor is making a intermittent high pitched whine (g#5 note). I "think" it's related to the module, but not sure. Anyone?

I have the same exact sound on my motor replaced it and the new one acts exactly the same. I am not getting 24v from speed control wires. Is it the board
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 2 жыл бұрын
More than likely the board, thermostat or harness if you're not getting 24 volts

Don't smash on your wheel puller either. The bottom half is aluminum, you will damage it.

? My air unit blower went out. I tested the high voltage going to the ecm motor and its fine, I checked the low voltage and its good… I ohm’d out the motor and its fine. I ordered a new ecm and installed it and the motor was working but didnt sound right. Sure enough witching 10 mins the fan stopped working again. Any thoughts on what might be going on?

You could have left the motor IN PLACE! Only the control module needs replacing. They are available on Amazon and Ebay for about $125. Two screws and then just mounts to end of motor. Cheaper and faster than changing entire motor!
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 2 жыл бұрын
That's true but usually when you're working for a company they're just going to tell you to go and swap out the whole motor cuz it's really hard to tell whether it's the module or the motor itself. I had one just a few months back where the motor was kind of turning slowly which I always thought was a sign of a module failure, I swap the module from a motor on a nearby unit and it still did the same thing. Once I replaced the entire motor it started right up. I say all that to say most of the time it probably won't be worth the time trying to order the specific module because its basically a 50/50 shot weather its the module or motor. Appreciate the advice and thanks for watching!

Wire wheel for the drill. Works better. Ands it’s faster. Motor will drop out. Haven’t used a puller in over 15 years. Mine is still new in the package.
