@@Uuuung Yes, you're absolutely right! It's always important to support only one song per country, because you only decrease the winning chances of a song you like if you split your votes or if you advertise many songs from one country in public! I for one am going FULL Gothminister - also because their song is much catchier and more memorable than Gåte's song in my opinion, but that's just a matter of taste. Gåte is fine, I like them, but for me it would be a huge mistake if I divide my support. And if I have to decide for a favourite, I know who it is.🖤

I don't think it's that similar to most Eurovision songs, comparing it to many of the other entries in the national selections.😉 Many Eurovision reactors also think "We Come Alive" is quite memorable in an ocean of even more polished, joyful pop music. However, if you would like to see how something slightly alternative succeeds, it would be great if you would join us in the voting on February 3rd, otherwise an entry like this doesn't stand a chance against big mainstream names. Remember that there is a very strong opponent for the final in Norway and that is Gåte - Ulveham and their last performance live SF2 was insanely good and everyone that has been to their concerts are blown away totally. . That was really good - I liked the industrial metal + gothic theme. Right, not many non-mainstream artists or bands make it to the finals, and when they do they usually don't end up winning, which is unfortunate. A good example of this was Germany's Lord of the Lost's song Blood & Glitter. It was an excellent song. I hope Gothminister has good success this year with Eurovision.

There are exceptions sometimes, like Italy's Måneskin, that ended up winning. Many think they are mainstream, but they actually weren't before winning Eurovision. They were a really solid rock band before, now they are sold to commercialism. Which is fine for them. But I still think, if someone is good they can even win the finals without being mainstream...

@@DanTheSqueegeeMan I looked the band up. It's interesting how an Italian band chose a Danish name. Band member "De Angelis, who is half Danish, was asked by her bandmates to toss out some Danish words, and they agreed on Måneskin ('moonlight')"

@@Mossy-Rock that’s right. I don’t like anything that came from them after Eurovision, but they had some great songs with great lyrics. My favorite is Coraline. There is a lyric video with English translation on yt. I speak Italian fluently, and Damiano, the singer and lyricist, is a true poet. Unfortunately now he writes in English and doesn’t reach the same level of profundity anymore.

Germsny's song last year was not aligned with Eurovision voters. All good being non-mainstream, but if you want a shot at victory, you have to align yourself with the voters. Lord of the Lost's "Blood & Glitter" was a spectacular entry and is still one of my all-time-favourite songs, but that's no surprise as they are my uncontested favourite band. I think it was definitely catchy enough for Eurovision, but the voting system disadvantaged LOTL because they always got 0 points even though they came 11th or 12th in most countries. They actually never came last in the particular countries, but the overall result was a farce because it doesn't give you any points for the overall ranking if you don't get to the top placements in many countries. That being said, you should all vote for Gothminister on February 3rd, Tommy posted my instructions in his pinned comment! I became a fan of Eurovision when I moved to "Europe" 20 years ago, and this certainly has the sound for the competition. Last years comp, unbelievably and sadly (even though I'm not a fan of the band) Lord of the Lost came last! I honestly thought and hoped they could have won, or at least top 10. The winning songs are so generic most of the time now, you might as well be watching X factor or something like that. I haven't checked out any other entries this year but I feel this song isn't strong enough to sway the sheep from their pop music votes... Let's get behind this song and any other who deserves support 🤘
@elendil__lehtinen

Lord of the Lost were actually fantastic last year and they didn't deserve what happened in the results! However, the detailed voting results showed that they actually did not come last in any European country - but if an act always ends up in the middle of a ranking, this act will get no points even if the song comes 11th or 12th in many countries. That's how the voting system disadvantaged Lord of the Lost! However: We have a new chance this year.🖤 Gothminister actually supported LOTL on tour in December, so the bands know each other!💥 And even though many "mainstream" people will not vote for this, we can still manage to win a national final if many alternative people remember to vote on February 3rd. Just like LOTL won the German final last year! Let's do it again.🔥 Would be great if you would join us on this day!🙏

I do not even know what to say. What is certain is that fashion is cyclical. Gothminister is a group from the early 2000s and then there was a wave of similar groups, all of them were probably inspired by Blutengel, who were the first to become popular in this genre. Last year there was Lord of the Lost at Eurovision 🙄, now Gothminister, the 2000s are back 🙄 who will be at Eurovision next year? Maybe then it's Blutengel from the 90s? Which other Gothminister songs do you like?🖤🦇✨️ I still think that "We Come Alive" is insanely catchy and a perfect fit for Eurovision!🔥 By the way: If you think they deserve votes, you can also vote on February 3rd and help them! I would say that every vote counts if we want to see a surprise victory!🖤✨️

I'm fond of their song Star from a couple years ago. Under the Eurovision format, perhaps We Come Alive is a good choice.@@elendil__lehtinen

Sounds like a pretty standard Euro(vision)-pop song, but the gothic twist gives it an interesting vibe. I doubt it will make it to the top at Eurovision, the goth vibe alone will not buy many people, instead I think the majority are put off by this style. The song actually is ok, but it's not really outstanding imo. Well, let's see I wish them lots of success... Eurovision, for me, it's like an accident.... It's horrible to watch, but you can't look away...lol.

Well, Lord of the Lost at least won their national final with alternative music, so it can also be possible for Gothminister to qualify for Eurovision at least! This does not mean they would achieve a great result at Eurovision, but it is possible to win a national final with music like this as we could see last year. But if we want alternative music to prevail in a competition against a lot of mainstream pop, we all need to vote on February 3rd, only then a band like this can stand a chance. Would be great if you join us!🖤🤘✨️

Come on man! It´s nice that you´re helping out Gothminister, but then you should be fair and encourage people to vote for Gåte and their song "Ulveham" as well. At least lyrically they have the heaviest act ever in MGP/Eurovision history. - tasting the blood of your unborn brother in the womb of your pregnant stepmother...

How does it make sense to encourage people to vote for several acts if this just splits the vote? And in the end none of these acts wins because all alternative votes are being divided? I do think Gothminister is the one who deserves the support of the alternative scenes, because he is around since 1999 and already tried to go to Eurovision 11 years ago, so now is the right time for him to earn what he deserves after all these years and efforts.

@@elendil_lehtinen Gåte has been around since 1999 too, (with a good looong break though). I reckon people should get to know the two ( out of three) best "heavy" acts in MGP this year and then decide for themselves who is deserving of their vote. I get your point about splitting the vote, but it seems more fair to me to introduce them both to this channels followers. I would wait until after they´ve performed live on Saturday though.

@olemcdonald2815 One should always consider that Gåte already has a lot of support from the Norwegian mainstream society, something Gothminister don't have. If I look at how Gåte are being promoted and pushed by many mainstream listeners, I think an alternative act that solely relies on alternative people and doesn't have this huge support from the mainstream needs more support from alternative channels. However, I don't want to discuss this issue, because we both have our opinions and I bet they won't change. 😉 In the end it will be difficult for all heavier acts anyway, because we are facing KEiiNO and they will be insanely difficult to beat. Even though I think KEiiNO's song is remarkably weak.

@@elendil_lehtinen Let´s hope one of them wins. I like them both and would be happy if we send Gothminister to Eurovision. I wouldn´t say that Gåte is very mainstream or has a lot of mainstream support though. They´re arguably more niche than Gothminister, especially to an international audience, which is where this hopefully ends for one of these two.
