I thank my mother for never listening to anyone about NOT having to put sunscreen on me or my sister as kids because we were half black. Most of the black people I know look at me like I’m stupid when I say I put on an SPF EVERYDAY! When I suggest they should too, I get the entire “we are black and have melanin in our skin” speech. Will stopping Tretinoin essentially have your skin continue aging on a normal pace from the time you first starting incorporating it in your regimen? And last question is... if stopped for a year then resumed, will your skin have to go through the purging process all over again? Thank you so much in advance!!

I have been using tretinoin for many years. I appreciate your cost effective recommendation of not needing to use it every night to maintain the a anti-aging effect! Do you have any recommendations on what to use on the nights in between aside from moisturizer? Perhaps a different anti-aging ingredient? Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge on all things skin!

Yes thank you Dr Dray on your recommendation on early sun protection! I totally agree. My daughter is only 4, but I started to see 2 tiny sun spot (freckles) on her cheeks. I kinda freaked out a little. Now I started using the Cleure sunscreen on her face cause it’s kid friendly (no fragrance and nasty chemical stuff) and moisturizing and no white cast. I plan on using Cleure for her during winter, spring and fall, and layer it with something more potent during summer months. She does not complain about putting it on cause she sees me doing it every morning, she kinda getting used to it now.

Hey Dr. Dray, how does tretinoin or other retin-a derivatives target anti-aging around the eyes when it cannot be applied near the eye area?
@arathibandi34694 жыл бұрын
from what I've learned your skin is like a sponge so if you put a drop of water on a sponge, it spreads out where the drop was placed. and putting it in the surrounding areas on the face will have this affect, because it's being soaked up and working under the skin

Aurora26 from what I known the adult onset type is different from the type some one gets when they are young. I’m super pale and so is my daughter so hers didn’t become visible till she was 2. However after she got a sunburn last summer hers spread to her neck and scalp where she now has white hair in sections.

I have some questions.:) Maybe you could address them in a future video(s)? First, what would be the purpose of increasing the strength of Retin-A over time? Also, if I start off using Retin-A 2x a week is there no benefit for anti-aging? It is hard to use it daily when going to an office & wearing make-up because of the peeling. Does Retin-A prevent aging at all or is it strictly reparative for damage already done? Does it address elasticity, sagginess, jowls when used over the years? Can it help with discoloration at all? I do understand Tri-Luma can because of the hydroquinone. At a lower strength when mixed with lotions or other products could Retin-A be used on the chest, hands or neck area? Can it help with hollows of the eyes? A video on fixes for hollowness under the eye area would be great. I have used Tri-Luma and still do at times. I also have the lowest strength of Tretinoin. Thank you in advance!

@HollyL564 жыл бұрын
@@maroma7669 You get Retin A through a prescription or overseas. You can't get it over the counter here in the US. If you are looking for something over the counter, try a product like Differin. Differen is a synthetic, but people use this if they can't use Retin A, due to it being less irritating...also it's easier to get being that it's over the counter. Retin A is a natural retinoid and is stronger than anything over the counter.

@amy @lynn lee..... which one you ladies used? What strength started off with ? How did you deal with flaky peeling skin ?
@Amy-gn6zw4 жыл бұрын
Nusrat Qadir started with ,05%. Had been used to a IOTC retinoid and chemical peels. So, I don’t have much peeling. Just work it in slowly. One a week, then moved in slowly to once every other day, now I’m daily. CeraVe nightly moisturizer in the jar with purple and white letterings it every night soothes and moistened skin. I personally recommend Neutrogena Rapud Wrinklie Fragrance Free Cream to get your skin used to Retin/a. It’s amazing, and this too, will have yo be started slow and steady until you acclimate to it. Then, I would say you can step up to Retin-A. 🌹

I have acne prone skin, when i was 19 i use retin a 0.1 for acne, with amazing results(scars, large pores, oily skin) now at 28 i really want retin a for anti aging purpose but the purging scared me a lot :(
@Kknderbueno4 жыл бұрын
Abraham RD the purging is I think more common in someone who has acne (don’t know if you still do have it or not). That being said the purging is relatively temporary compared to how long you can use Tretinoin for benefit. Imagine even a year of purging for 30, 40, 50, and more years of beautiful skin!
@ambycarr16954 жыл бұрын
The purging phase was really only 2-3 weeks and you can lessen the side effects by using the lowest percentage and slowly working it into your routine a few times a week over moisturized skin. So I think it’s worth it the try

I hope tretinoin helps my skin gets better and I get rid of acne and sun damage.
