I have a grizzly too but it's red and black. No issues so far after one year. Changed the brake pads. That's about it. Love it especially late at night when there is little to no traffic.

Four paths to more speed: 1) Increase voltage. 2) Swap the motor for a faster wind. 3) Swap the controller for one that features field weakening. 4) Increase your gearing (larger wheel size with a hub motor). Simply increasing the controller amperage has no effect on top speed unless it was severley underpowered to the point it couldnt reach top speed.

But when he say's Increase the Voltage, does that mean increase the voltage choice of the battery, like going from 48 to 52? P.S. If increasing the controllers size won't increase speed, how do you explain all the youtube video's of people saying when they do so they got increased speed ?
@Nalladalla32 Жыл бұрын
@@flolou8496 It depends on what they mean. A lot of people simply mean increased acceleration. The only time a bigger controller will increase speed is if it was very small and holding the rest of the system back in the first place.
@Nalladalla32 Жыл бұрын
@@flolou8496yes when I say increase voltage that is exactly what I mean. More amps won't increase your top speed, they just help you get to the same speed faster(more torque).
@Nalladalla32 Жыл бұрын
@@flolou8496it's worth mentioning a lot of bikes that you buy will be severely limited due to regulations so to get past a speed restriction you can get an aftermarket controller and display so there is no speed limit built in. This is the one case where a controller upgrade will make you faster but it's only because the system was being restricted in the first place.

you might be able to turn the whole grizzley into 60v 50a system but there would be nowhere to hide the other big battery and super long controllers lol and then having too much power on the front wheel would be dangerous. 2 or 3kw rear with 1kw front is about all the front can sustain before wanting to constantly slide out from under you.

My Hyper Scorpion has 35 amp. Too how the controller feeds the power counts. Some controllers feed early and some build up while others save more power for the top. Another power player are the windings in the motor. Thicker wire torque hits on the bottom/take off the line. Thinner wire winds keep efficient power at the top end speed. The Hyper Scorpion is a average of all the above. So good push off the line but not enough to spin the wheel. Good build in the middle and then reaching tup and guts it out evenly/easily to the top 31mph full battery. Once it starts for the top it goes for it. Still it’s not a kick hard to that top. Tora showed a video of the bike on a dyno machine illustrating how the out put geared up towards the top for the optimum efficiency-spread to conserve battery amp hours against volts power usage, I know this in detail as I have had my hoer scorpion for 4 years and know how it rides. It a steady power train that’s even bottom to the top. Gets me off the line, quickly to the top and steady 29-30-31mph sitting at 30 with cruise control till battery drain drops it down. Like the bike got 10,400 miles on it starts up every time. Reliable bike. Kinda went on with this but necessary to tell the story. Thing that sucks is the fork. What a cheap piece of crap. See if the new rendition ( should be out soon) has upgraded one. Anyway fixing to put a better fork on mine.

You are spot on. with weak controllers from the factory, you don't get the performance you will need for speed and climbing ability. I have been using 40Amp controllers and some 35 Amp controllers and it's like adding dual 4barrel carburetors on a stock 327 engine. Your channel is the most enjoyable for e-bikes. Even if you just increase to 35Amp controllers you will notice a huge difference in performance. Looking forward to your Grizzly surprise upgrade.

i have a bafang g60 750w front. and g62 1000w rear. Both on 72v phaserunner v6 controllers, capable of 4000w total, 2000w peak each. But i find there are a lot of diminishing returns after about 2000w total. Can get going a good 35 or 40mph with 2000w. But if you do 3000w or 4000w its only slightly faster. So I think i understand why these pre builts with the dual hubs usually have them set to about 1000w or 1500w each. Doesn't make a lot of sense to go higher. I think the citizen bike is probably faster top speed than the grizzly because it has 26" wheels that are close to a 28" diameter.
@Altema22 Жыл бұрын
Interesting results. What is your battery setup and BMS discharge rate? Just asking because I run a single Phaserunner with 52v batteries, and I see jumps in performance at specifical intervals. there is not a big difference between 1800 and 2400 watts, but at 2600 watts there's a significant performance jump. Same with not being much difference from 2600 to 2900, but a big jump at 3000 watts. Most of my 5 batteries will only handle 2000 watts by themselves, but I have a couple that will support 2600, and if I run the dual Tesla batteries, they are fine with 3000. I can cruise at 35mph at 2600 watts, but 40mph+ is easy with 3000 watts. I run my field weakening at 40% and the phase current at 96 amps though, so that may be a factor.

26x4 vs 20x4 is a pretty easy choice for me. I have both formats and FAR prefer the comfort, stability at speed, and off road capabilities of the 26x4. The smaller tires just suck in comparison, but I am tall and can easily handle the much bigger tire. If you want to actually pedal a little or a lot, and don’t want to be hassled on the bike paths or pulled over by a cop thinking your on an unlicensed moped, it’s a complete no brainer. The Wired Freedom is much better and a lot less expensive. If I had to ride 10miles on a Grizzly, it better be to the hospital to get traction for my back.

Yes, I have changed out several front forks and it's kind of a pain in the butt. You'll need to remove The Crown race from the old set of forks, which is the hard part, and put it on the new firks. It's a little metal ring that seats into the headsets bearings. If you search "citizen magicycle cruiser pro upgrades" i think i cover it in that video.

So with your Wired ebike having 40ah controller, does that mean if you add a second battery to it, it has to be a total of 40ah on both batteries?
@EBikeBuilder_ Жыл бұрын
if you have two batteries then yes the amp hours of the batteries add together for more capacity. To clear up some possible confusion - amps are current, amount of electricity going through a conductor at a point in time. amp hours is a measure of current used over a period of time. when we talk about controllers its usually amps. But with batteries its usually the amp hours or capacity you are concerned about
@jimmyjames8736 Жыл бұрын
No, the amp hour rating of the batteries does not need to match the controllers peak amp rating. A 20ah battery can run a 40a controller okay. Extra amp hours just provide extra range. A second battery does not have to have the same ah rating as the first one.

@Nalladalla32 Жыл бұрын
It just not that easy unfortunatley. It all comes down to the motor and its rpm/v. As the motor spins it generates its own voltage known as back EMF. Once you get up to speed and the motor matches the battery voltage power drops. This is why upgrading a controller does nothing for top speed, only acceleration. For a higher top speed you need a faster wind motor(more rpm/v), a higher voltage battery(this will result in a higher rpm since rpm is dictated by voltage) or a controller that can do field weakening to increase top speed at small hit to efficiency. If you really want to learn the fundamentals check out grin technologies on youtube deep dive into hub motors.

I am pretty sure when you say faster, you mean from a drag race point of view. Sorry you had to spend your money to be disappointed. The Citizen bike reigns supreme.
