I personally play the 3rd game In the series due to them removing most of the mysteries in the fourth game. I love this series as much as animal crossing but yah and honestly it's hard to get bored of the 3rd game because in my opinion there's so many things to do like : talking to classmates,Do stuff for your shop,Doing Mysteries, shopping,Going to class,Water the plants,Going into the haunted house to look for the treasure, Do stuff for Fashion and later end up doing a fashion show, Go into the crave and get the daily collectibles with a certain spell and so many more things to do. Like I said I love the game as much as animal crossing.

I definitely want to play the later games in the series for myself. I agree that this series is pretty on par with animal crossing, and it’s sad that some people write it off as a “clone” only. There’s a lot to do in the stylized little magic world

I really hope Konami will make a new Magician’s Quest game for the Switch, or just do an HD remake. If only the company wasn’t so corrupted.

Yea it’s really sad how Konami gutted themselves after MGS5 and lost talent to pachinko machines. Now it’s gonna take years for them to get back in shape, if they even want to, and they’ll surely be focused on more microtransactions

I’ve just started to replay this one myself and it’s so rich in personality and charm. Very much enjoying myself here again 🥰 I wish the other games had English ports. I’d be all over them.

This game was my favourite when I was a kid, before even knowing animal crossing. The other game are only in Japanese so I couldn't ever play it. But if anyone is interested I'm in a discord server of some fan translator and they are translating one of the game of the serie :)

the instruments made this so fun and the knockoff songs were great too lol. They had a knockoff of lithium from Nirvana in this game

The Tongari Boushi series is truly a hidden gem. It's sad that Mahou no Omise and Mahou Tsukai's (the other 2 Japanese DS games) features never made it outside Japan. While arguably it's a bit dumb that they'd sell a game that's basically the same but with additional features three times, at least it's true that they also had if I remember correctly a data transfer feature that allowed you to export your magic school to the next game so you wouldn't have to start over. It's not really that true that the game did incredibly well in Japan like most people normally like to say. While sure it didn't do terrible like some shovelware out there, the next games after the first one still did pretty badly in comparison to other titles that are as obscure if not more, and this if we only take Japan into consideration and not the sales outside Asia. It's kind of a miracle the 3DS game even exists, though honestly, I think it's the worst one. They cut like 80% of the old mysteries which is just insane knowing they were the main attraction of the first game, and some of the 3D models look like if they were entirely remade instead of just modified and given better textures, which leads to some of them looking really off. Not only that but some have a few clipping problems and some other minor bugs, but it's nothing too big or noticeable. Maybe they didn't have enough time or something, but it's also important to highlight that some of the people that worked for the past games were not present in the production of that one. Sadly, it's not really up to Nintendo to make a new Magician's Quest, as it's property of KONAMI rather than of Nintendo themselves. It was produced by LOVEPLUS Productions, who made the game named like the team (Loveplus). However, a year or so after the last Tongari Boushi's release it was dissolved, so a new Magician's Quest in the future is unlikely. There is still a bit of hope, as in his and probably last interview when LOVEPLUS Productions was disbanded and Akari Uchida was leaving KONAMI, he addressed that if KONAMI ever requested him to work for them in a project involving any of his creations, he would gladly accept, but that was quite some years ago. Whether he still feels like this or not in the present is unknown.

Just a little extra: It kind of pisses me off they changed the second part of the title of the game because 365 Nights of Magic is way better than Mysterious Times in the context the game is supposed to be played like. There's as many mysteries as there's weeks of the year, and for some mysteries you have to wait an entire week for being able to activate another one. The name Magician's Quest is nothing worthy of complaining over either though. It's suitable enough for the game.

You have a very admirable amount of knowledge and love for this series. That’s a shame that the 3DS title didn’t do a great job with the models/textures, as I love the artstyle of 365 Nights of Magic. I did see that you could transfer some save data between the non-ported following titles which is a cool feature. I misspoke towards the end of the video, my intention was to just say maybe Nintendo will implement some similar features in the future. Thank you so much for taking the time to give more details on the series!

@@richfunkey8012 You're welcome. Honestly, I only discovered about the series back in late 2018 but I instantly fell in love with it because of the character design. Since then I have played a few other obscure DS titles, but all of them cannot be compared the same way in terms of content and quality. Sadly, playing the games without emulating them is almost impossible nowadays, as most copies of the game are incredibly overpriced unless you buy the Japanese ones. Magician's Quest is just a franchise that had somewhat of an impact despite being followed by so few. Hell it even had part of its OST released in Japan to purchase (which is kind of strange, they just picked a few of the tracks and not all of them, as well as including an enhanced version of the main theme with lyrics). Kinda wished more people gave the game a try, but at the same time I enjoy that it's obscure enough to not fall prey of toxic people, as the Japanese community for the game is incredibly chill and does art regularly.

Thanks for the video! I am really looking to finding and buying this game, I adore it so much! I cannot find an affordable listing anywhere, or a place to buy the game. Do you happen to know of any places I can buy it? And, just for price range, where did you buy yours and how much did it cost? Thanks!
