Kygo is basically the tropical house version of Avicii - which of course makes sense if you know that Kygo's biggest inspiration was Tim; it shows. :) I still remember finding his I see fire remix (Ed Sheeran) and loving it instantly. When he made it big, I was like "YAAAASSS"

Avicii is another level up when it comes to chords/melodies imo. I feel like the chords in this example without the specific sounds would be hard to remember, but aviciis chords are recognisable with any sound

that Kygo is a good KEY player everyone knows it (there are a lot of Keygo's doing that), but what every producer can really learn from Kygo is having a bit of luck and being able to layer ACAPELLAS like Tina Turner etc. This is what made AVICII and other DJ-MAG's the same thing... they use famous artists voices on their tracks...

so I asked chatGPT: Pedal tones, also known as drone tones or pedal points, are sustained or repeated notes, typically in the bass range, that serve as a foundation or anchor for the harmonic structure of a piece of music. In the context of electronic dance music, like Kygo's tracks, pedal tones are often used to create a sense of continuity and stability amidst changing harmonies and melodies. They can provide a consistent rhythmic and harmonic reference point, allowing other musical elements to evolve and interact around them. Kygo frequently employs pedal tones, often using deep, pulsating basslines that anchor his melodic and rhythmic elements, contributing to the distinctive sound of his tracks.
