I think winter vs summer is fine at the end of the day, especially when you remember that players were sometimes passing out after games due to heatstrokes in 2010 and 2014. Having a match played at noon or at 6pm in saudi would genuinely be a health hazard for the players. However the multiple hosts for a world cup is just too much. Plus it will create a controversy as to where the final will be held. because you can bet all of the countries wish they held it.

The reason for doing it with the hosts like that in 2030, is so that 2034 had to go to Saudi. Nowadays FIFA always wants atleast two world cups in between the same federation/continent hosting again. By doing Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay...... that takes 3 federations/continents out to host 2034. Because North-America will have done 2026, they also can't do 2034 again (since there would only be one in between and it needs to be two). This only leaves Asia and Oceania; with Oceania simply not having the ambition to host it, this leaves Asia. Giving an easy out for FIFA to slide the 2034 World Cup to Saudi-Arabia by not having any other serious bids for it from other eligible continents.

Saudi Arabia is one of the biggest footballing nations in Asia as it won 3 Asian cups and have been in the most finals ever in the competition. It's just because of the way it's rotated between confederations, which is the most fair way to do it. CONCACAF doesn't have any countries that are capable of hosting the WC aside from the US, Canada and Mexico. I don't think many people would want to go to a WC in Guatemala or Trinidad and Tobago. I also disagree with your point about the southern hemisphere, they only have max 15% of the global population. No reason to cater to a much smaller portion of the global population. Almost all professional players who'd go to the WC play in leagues that have their off season during June and July. Hosting WC in the southern hemisphere in desert climates is just a net negative, sorry. Exceptions of course for countries that are temperate/tropical so even in their winters you can still play i.e Brazil

Nick it really pains me to see you spread misinformation about the number of deaths in 2022 qatar wc. That article was talking about number of death in last 12 of migrant workers (work related and non wr deaths) the number of work related deaths in building 2022 wc stadiums is 3 and i hope you do better research in the future. No hate just pointing out the misunderstanding

Nothing was wrong with Qatar … Nothing will be wrong with Saudi… Playinh in the winter is not a problem … The game is for all …. Also for nations with hot summer … the game is not tailored for white people and their climate! The beauty in the game is in the summer and in the winter … grow up! There was an awesome vibe in Qatar and there will be an awesome vibe in Saudi! There are more football fans than the west!

Qatar was not a good World Cup. Crowds were so silent, no atmosphere, tons of big teams going out early, a few good games a good World Cup doesn’t make. Not to even mention any of the more unsavory stuff

Qatar was one of the best world cups ever sporting wise and had the best final in history. Stop waffling.

@@PassportBro_ England, France, Brazil, Netherlands all played terribly. Yes the final and a couple of other knockout games were great but overall quality was poor

@@PassportBro_ no vibes, no culture, Qatar literally had to pay people to go watch matches and act like fans of a country. besides the final and semi final the matches were trash. Objectively whack WC

@@aydem1337 This is such a clueless take, the games were sick but the crowds were ass. The Saudi win against Arg, Morocco getting 4th place, Netherlands v Arg and the penalties final (arguably the best game of football i've seen in my life), don't diss this world cup. Actually adding the proper stoppage time always led to late winners, South Korea for example etc. It was a good world cup, yeah some teams play shit but that's how a tournament goes. It's every 4 years, just enjoy em man
@Jordy4610Ай бұрын
@@PassportBro_ Yeah, but sporting wise/the football played has nothing to do with where it's hosted. So from a host perspective, it was garbage. Which is what the initial comment was pointing out. Just because some games were crazy, doesn't make it a succesfully hosted tournament. It was ass from that perspective.

Strongly disagree with the 2026 world cup being a disaster, yes I'm aware Copa America was awful, BUT IT WAS RUN BY CONCACAF. FIFA don't mess around when it comes to world cups, and the most ever attended world cup in history was the 1994 world cup hosted in America

Im a muslim and I think the Saudi government doing all this weirdness of trying to be westernised is super cringe. Yes Saudi have oil produce we all know that and there is alot of business and trade that goes on with the middle east, but it is supposed to be a respected and well preserved place, as it is where the routes of Islam were made. It is not supposed to be used as an area for these large events that have nothing got to do with the people living there, and that is where the money greed and corruption from the government comes in. All the king and prince title nonsense is also against the religion of Islam, so you can see that the corruption basically starts from there because these people think they have some sort of authority so they can do what they want with the country and turn it into a tourist location. And they have oil money to spend so companies like FIFA and WWE jump on the wagon immediately even if they know it is not the most practical choice for a sporting event. Money talks sadly.
@AkaRyeАй бұрын
So basically Saudi Arabia as a country should just wait for the oil to run out and then stay with no financial source of income, and the Saudi people should always have to travel to go to entertainment based events just because you find it cringe? Persevering our roots as muslims is one thing, denying progress as a country and society is a whole other thing
@Sz7_ytАй бұрын
@AkaRye You don't understand Saudi is a muslim country and there is a reason why there is controversy between the rights of muslim countries and non muslim countries, you saw it in the 2022 Qatar WC. The laws in place are due to Islam and you cannot alter or change them or you are going against the fundamental teachings which is forbidden. And progress through westernisation? Letting homosexuality and alocohol consumption be invited into the country in a country where there are the most muslims who see it as forbidden. Also, the money for Saudi will always be there, the oil wont 'dry up' because of Saudis geographical location. Islam did not say countries have to become westernised to be considered as progressive in society.
