I think it’s important to realize that not everyone has the same experiences in life. Most people understand cheating to be a vile thing, but some people are okay with it. I think you would benefit greatly in re-listening to what they had to say through the understanding, that not all relationships take shape in the Christian mold of monogamy, some people prefer other things and stand on different values. Doesn’t make them any less human.

As the only married person in MOST of my friend groups (with kids!) story 1 is along the lines of what i tell people every time they ask for advice. Its true. Love is a feeling. It waxes and wanes. But my commitment? that's forever, and that never falters. And my husband agrees lol, it's the work over time that makes a love story time tested. That's not to say we don't have hard boundaries that would end our relationship- cheating being the main one- but that goes with commitment right? “Monogamy isn’t natural” It doesn’t have a damn thing to do with being “natural.” Monogamy is a commitment; a sign that this person has a strong standard for how they treat their partner and are absolutely 100% invested in them. Polyamorous people have no commitments to their partners, and that creates an open door for them to lie about whether or not they actually love their partners. It’s not about being natural, it’s about being trustworthy and having strong principles. Monogamous people have these things, Polyamorous people do not.

See the thing with the 3rd story is that monogamy has been the default norm for most civilizations. And just because other species don't follow monogamous relationships doesn't apply to us. Otherwise.. well most animal species don't grasp the concept of consent. So using the same logic, why do we follow laws because they arent "natural" or are a "social construct", why bother with consent, why bother with age of consent, why bother with anything because "its a social construct" or "other species do it"
