@@volktol4432 True, but there's no need to hate on the other guy or to insult his work. Just some of the comments seem to go out of their way to criticise when really they can just politely share a preference if that's what they want to do. Just my honest opinion

For the advice about putting out fire using baking soda or salt, it should be noted that you should never use flour because flour is actually flammable and unless you can dump a very large amount on the entire fire very quickly you are more likely to fuel the fire
@Doggo226Ай бұрын
Yes, and NEVER use water on a magnesium fire. Also don’t use a CO2 fire extinguisher. Both will make the fire angrier. Table salt is the best option for a magnesium fire.

Try to train everyone in a household who is capable to perform the Heimlich maneuver. My sister came out onto the porch choking once and I was sitting with my niece who said, "she's choking!" She jumped up and got behind her mother and start it to hug her from behind before throwing her arms up and announcing that she didn't know how to do it. I jumped up and gave my sister a couple of hard thrust to the diaphragm from behind and she spit out the steak she was choking on. I then took the opportunity to train my niece and everyone else available in how to perform the heimlich maneuver just to make sure that should it ever be needed in the future they weren't just fruitlessly smacking someone on the back. I also explained how to perform the heimlich on yourself using the back of a chair or couch. It's one of those things you rather have and not need than need and not have. So many people die of choking to death every single day.

COLD WATER + RESPIRATORY ILLNESS. My father has COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder) and we were on vacation. He *gently* slipped into 5ft of cool pool water and it immediately sent his heart into arrhythmia. It took 12 hours and lots of medication to get his heart back into a regular BPM. Do. Not. Mess. With. ANY. Heart. Or. Lung. Condition.

Mythbusters proved that waiting for your car to mostly fill with water will save you. The key is to stay calm, undo your seatbelt and keep your head in the air pocket until the last moment, then take one deep breath before opening the door. Not everyone in every jurisdiction is protected by good Samaritan laws. The most common exemption is someone who has had a medical certification lapse without renewing it. Let's say someone gets a job as a life guard while they are in college but let's the AED cert expire once they get into an office job. If they then place an AED and the person doing chest compressions gets shocked or the person who had the heart attack dies, that former life guard can be in the hook for damages. (Source: friend and coworker who switched from medical to hospitality and lost his certs just before a guy died of a heart attack in the parking lot where we worked).

Story 2: I have a very narrow esophagus, and sometimes food/liquid gets stuck. The first time this struck was in a social distance lunchroom during 2020. If you started coughing, everyone moved away from you. It was very scary until I coughed up the stuck food. Spent the next year waiting for an endoscopy and learned how to save myself. Still suffer from this ailment and dreading the day it gets worse and needs surgery.
@heatheral-hammadi3046Ай бұрын
Regarding CPR don’t forget to allow for the chest to fully recoil before doing another compression.

32:06 you're not trying to wash off the radiation, instead you're trying to wash off any radioactive contaminates that could have come from the fall out. The contaminates are the source of the radiation and the sooner you wash that off the better your prognosis. Radiation sickness works similar to a sun burn however. Most of the damage could already be done before symptoms manifest and because of wide spread damage to cellular machinery, recovering from it can take months or even years, that is if you already haven't suffered a fatal dose.
@ResidentMilfАй бұрын
Very close. What you're washing off are alpha and beta particles, which aren't that harmful short-term outside of your body, but can cause all kinds of damage if you ingest them or if they get in open wounds. That's because they emit low-level radiation that can be blocked by thinner materials (alpha particles by clothing, beta particles by a few cm of aluminum), but your insides have no protection against them.

Story 34 (22:10) No! Don't just run. Humans can still stampede, and people get killed in them. People also sometimes run towards the danger. If there's a concerned memering, take a second to figure out a safe direction and walk that way. Only run if it becomes necessary to stay safe, and try to get out of the crowd if you can. Panicked people can be as or more dangerous than whatever they are panicing about.
@Doggo226Ай бұрын
Here’s a tip I know: NEVER use water on a metal fire (particularly magnesium). Also don’t use a CO2 fire extinguisher. Both will make the fire angrier. Use table salt. This will put out the fire. Edit: I shouldn’t have to say this, but if it’s a large fire, run.

The Good Samaritan act does not prevent you being sued. It does give you some defense. However, keep in mind there are some awful people out there who will try to get money for your efforts. Also remember effective CPR will break ribs. No try to stop someone from trying to help, just want you to know the risk.

Guns prevent an estimated 2.5 million crimes/year, often without bloodshed. 60% of convicted felons say that knowing someone has a gun would deter them from targeting said person, and 40% would be detered if they thought the person might have a gun. The 0.5% of violent crimes being stopped statistic also may be misleading due to unreported or wrongly classified crimes that were stopped. Especially if you live in a rural area, it is far better to have one than not to. At the end of the day, I'd rather be in jail and have my family safe than assume someone doesn't have hostile intentions.

Spending $20,000 on a tote bag is the obvious choice, rather than spending $200 on a kislux bag and investing the remaining $19,800 since a $20,000 bag is unlikely to increase in value.
