Thanks to our DM using a homebrew book from the Dungeon Master's Guild which allowed us to go beyond level 20, my Artificer who multiclassed into Wizard and Cleric both had the Divination Wizard's Portent and the Chronurgist's Chronal Shift feature. Considering he had the Lucky Feat and could cast Fortune's Favor and Foresight...he could essentially use 5d20s for one roll.

This reminds me of my favorite character of all time: Markus. A blacksmith by trade and a berserker barbarian by heart, he was the first barbarian I ever got to level 20 (after about a dozen different barbs). The party he was in already had a tank (who was scary in her own way), so I built him do one thing and one thing only: rip and tear. There are several things he could do that would make a munchkin blush, but I'll keep it to the top three. First, the Cavalry: Markus had acquired several magic items through out the campaign (many of them homebrewed), but no items were a better pairing than the Banner of the Last Charge and the Amulet of Bifurcated Harmonization. With the banner, Markus could (once per long rest) conjure three horsemen as an action: one would make a melee attack with Markus's to-hit mod and deal 4d12+6 force on a hit, another would charge in a line with an effect similar to the Lightning Bolt spell (dealing force instead of lightning), and the last could carry an ally within 100 feet of Markus (including himself) to a point up to 100 feet away. The amulet was the real kicker, though, because of its one ability: once per day, Markus could use a 1-action item as a bonus action, and visa versa, as long as the item was no more than 10,000 gold in value... And Markus had bought the banner for 9k. So, three spectral cavalry carry him to an enemy within 100 feet of him, run them like a track meet, and he still has an action to attack the with... But that's not the scariest part. Then, there was his weapon, a Vorpal Axe (the DM was lenient on magic items as long as it made sense). It had the same effect as the Vorpal Sword, but in his hands it was extra deadly. With all of his modifiers and magic items (which I won't list to keep this comment SOMEWHAT short), he could deal 1d12 + 25 resistance-ignoring slashing damage on a plain old hit (gods HELP YOU if he landed a crit), with a plus 13 to hit (yes, I gave him Great Weapon Master... yes, that damage/attack penalty was included in the numbers above). Even our paladin couldn't keep up with his damage, and she was a damn sorcadin (sooo many smite slots)! Markus averaged 32 damage per hit... But that wasn't the scariest part. Finally, the cherry on top of the monster... His Constitution save bonus. You see, Markus didn't have even half the armor of anyone else in the party (he had 17 AC... we were fighting demigods), so his survivability came from Relentless Rage. Normally, most barbarians can make the first two saves before they start to sweat. Markus, however, was obviously NOT most barbarians. By the final fight, he had racked up enough bonuses for his Con save to sport a +21 (canonically, his blood was so thick that poisoned darts burst from the pressure, and he once beat the entire crew of an all-dwarf dreadnought at a game of drink in such a land slide that he literally raise the sea level by a noticeable amount the next morning). He could literally refuse to die four times before he had a marginal chance of failure, and that had literally been the make-or-break moment in several massive fights. I can share more details for those interested, but I think I've... made my point. Sorry for the long read. Love the content, and have a nice day!

"scariest" thing I've ever done was polymorph into a nat and flew into a guards mouth as he yawned and the turned back into my normal self. Edit: I didn't use that tactic often but whenever our party's rouge(DMPC) got annoying with his barely joking insults I'd tell him "shut your mouth before I fly into it" he usually shut up after that.

Something like a Draconic Rage. I was a lvl 3 Paladin, and with a Homebrew my DM gave me (for whatever reason), when i was about to get killed or reduced to 0 XP, there would be a LOT of dice rolling to activate a passive hability, turning myself into a Dragon. The first time i turned into one, i became a Ancient black dragon and destroyed half of a colosseum were in, killing 3/4 of the creatures inside of it, and being only stopped by their king (a type of demi-god or just a really powerful mage). The only way to kill me is killing my character and the dragon. Also, when the "rage" ends, my body regenerates, even if i lose my head i will regenerate it.

My character didn't have many overtly flashy abilities as a largely self-taught force-sensitive, but through mastering sense, he developed a suite of abilities related to it. Influence, misdirect e.t.c. The ultimate mastery of this empathy ability to read others resulted in him developing ebb/flow, which basically allowed him to read and project his or other people's mental states onto others. He also had a soul-absorbing Sith sword that while, being a Lightside Paragon himself, he kept on him to potentially slay the two remaining immortals in our campaign. In his last moments when fighting a brutal battle against a literal army in a futile attempt to save his daughter, he finally drew that sword and triggered it's the effect on death trooper; and projected the emotions that man felt in his last moments on everyone within a 15-meter radius. Literally every other death trooper, up to now a completely unbreakable entity in our campaign as far as morality went, simply broke and ran screaming in their garbled com speak. To this day it was literally the only time that the Deathtrooper corps have been routed in terror, after all even the fearless isn't immune to the supernatural sensation of having their soul torn asunder. It was a little sad actually as up to this point Tobin had been attempting to retire to a more peaceful life, but got brought back on when Thrawn decided to make his play against the republic, so in many aspects, Tobin became the sith that his dark master had once wished him in his last moments before the second wave of reinforcements finally overpowered him. Tobin might have exceeded Thrawns original expectations, but after the crap Ezra had pulled on him 8 years prior, he really wasn't taking any risks in dealing with force sensitive.

In a campaign we finished recently, my character was a half dragon (lore wise, used Dragonborn stat sheet) draconic sorcerer, and formerly a Paladin of the moon goddess (still technically is but it’s more her champion instead of a Paladin). She was level 18 when the campaign finished, and hands down her 3 scariest abilities: 1. She had a homebrew metamagic called divine spell: which allowed her to use sorcery points to deal an additional 1d6 radiant damage per sorcery point used when casting a spell. 2. She had a +3 shield given by the moon goddess that was a throwable weapon (former Paladin so her strength was very high). +3 magic weapon that dealt 2d6 force damage on a hit, and could cast the shield spell on herself or an ally within 30 feet of her 5 times a day without expending spell slots. Because of her dex and a cloak of protection, she was a sorcerer with an AC of 23 3. Finally, not an ability my character had, but an ability her daughter had. Her daughter was a gold dragon wyrmling (somewhat adopted, not entirely) and was the champion of the dragon god of this campaign. Her fire based breath weapon was replaced with a radiant based one, and once a week she could turn into a young gold dragon as a bonus action

I have a Tabaxi Gunslinger in a homebrew campaign that I'm planning on Multiclassing into Artificer with. In-setting she's one of the only people in the world who can craft firearms efficiently. My DM just gave me a Circlet of Intellect (making my Intelligence score 19 whenever I have it on) which lets my rolls for crafting my firearms and sourcing my parts much, much easier and generally more successful. This has led to making some very high damage weapons at as low as 3rd level. I've managed to one turn some very bulky enemies that the DM has thrown at us, as well as craft unique implements and weapons for my party mates (our healer mage is now the new owner of a Travis Bickle-style slide holster that she keeps up her dress sleeve, attached to a double barrel Derringer pistol with a bore diameter of 3/4 of an inch.) Once I hit 7th level and have Artillerest at 3rd Level, DM also ruled that because Tiny cannons with legs have a climbing speed and can be handheld, he sees no problem with me latching one to my shoulder to use as a shoulder gun. I'm wondering how long it'll take before they realize I'm essentially turning her into a Tabaxi Doom Slayer.

While enveloped the item, if it’s a weapon, will do an extra 4d6 necrotic damage. The gambit part comes in because he can blow up any item enveloped with a thought. The item keeps glowing until it blows up. The explosion does 6d6 damage. It is OP because I can make organic matter glow too. I made an ant glow once and it walked towards the fire giant and exploded. It was amazing.

Probably the worst thing I've seen in a campaign was pine tar torture. The party produced pine tar, for the sole purpose of killing a defeated BBEG slowly with it. They applied layers of bubbling hot tar to his skin, then ripped it off in strips, taking the skin with it. And they did this because he had killed not only a beloved PC, but his family as well. And the bastard didn't have a family of his own for them to return the favor. So, torture death was the next best thing. But the most brutal part was probably the barbarian using the flat of his greatsword to make sure the guy could never have a legacy beyond that night. If the words "mashed testicles" don't make you squirm, then you are one steely SOB.

I played a Barbarian Princess that had the mindset of Michael Myers once. At third level, I checked all the official sources (and some unofficial ones) to find a good Barbarian path for her, and I came across Path of the Depths. To use this Path, the Barbarian had to be traumatized by an incident involving some ocean creature in the past, and I hadn't really written much of my Barbarian's backstory, so it really helped me flesh her out a bit. Then I noticed what Path of the Depths gave you in return for harnessing your trauma as power. One of the abilities can pull enemies towards you that are up to 15 feet away. Another makes it so if you're standing in water, you can teleport without provoking an attack of opportunity *and* attack in the same action. You can breathe underwater indefinitely, and gain a swim speed equal to your movement speed, and at later levels when you teleported using water, you caused a small but powerful tidal wave pushing everyone nearby down and dealing Force damage. Given that my character was supposed to play like a slasher movie monster, I realized how scary I just made her. And given that the current campaign I was playing involved a lot of water, I realized I would have plenty of opportunities to really Roleplay this serial killer who can pull a "Nothing Personnel, Kid" on just about anyone.

I have two characters currently and both of them have something utterly terrifying, but for different reasons. The first is my Fey Wanderer Ranger Firesplint in a high power campaign. He is pretty terrifying on his own; explosive siege shots from a greatbow that can cover double the range of a normal bow, dealing massive amounts of damage when I stack everything together. No, his scariest ability is the fact that *the forest is his domain.* Meaning, he can see what goes on in the forest, can glide his consciousness through any forest to scout vast distances of land in a few brief moments, and knowledge rolls relating to forests and the feywild are automagically successful (because what glorified tree spirit WOULDN'T know what goes on in his domain?). Great boons and definitely helpful when we're trying to beat back the thing that even the gods fear. He is the Guardian of the Forests, he speaks for the trees. Litter again and he'll be taking your leg at the knee. The second is Brand, my Skald Bardbarian I'm currently playing through an updated/modded Dragons of Icespire Peak campaign (basically added more story for a lot of the things like the Orcs, some new enemies, some funny homebrew stuff like the stone of healing. Fun times with this campaign honestly). Brand is a College of Swords Bard with 2 levels of Barbarian currently at level 5. He has base 18 AC (without a shield and with/without armor), a draconic ornament from Fizbans (given to him by a benefactor that wants that white dragon Cinnamon's lair), can go into a rage to both resist most forms of weapon damage and always gain advantage on attacks, can use defensive flourish to gain up to an additional 6 AC on his turn, giving him around 25 potential AC to work with at level 5. The plan is to have Shield Master, Medium Armor Master, and either Tough, Dual Wielder, or Magic Initiate (Sorc) for Shield spell to make my already cracked potential AC even more cracked by the time we reach the dragon. He is one of the two front liners, the other being Oswald our Rune Knight Fighter, and their bromance is legendary. They are both fun to play and I look forward to playing them again.

I'm currently playing in an epic campaign, and my character hails from quite a primitive plane of existence, a material plane covered for the most part in water with just a few tiny Islands where little communities of land walkers are allowed to live by the grace of the sea dwellers. My character being a humble person, but possibly one of the most powerful Sorcerers on this entire plane, knowing how to bring forth epic effects with regular spells without actually practicing epic magic. When he joined the party he gave his new companions a tour around the kingdom, and a party member asked why my kingdom didn't have any walls. "Well, the sea dwellers know that if they'd ever hurt my people, they wouldn't be able to win a war against me." A little consused, they asked 'Against you? Surely, you mean against your kingdom? But I don't understand, it's unwalled, and virtually undefended." To which I simply responded "I know what I said." and just gave them a playful smile. A few months and a few dozen sessions later my Kingdom was attacked by an unallied Sea Elven Kingdom from a neighbouring sea on account of the reason that the land walkers needed to be 'culled' again like cattle. My character was the only one who remained calm, using his class abilities to extend a Time Stop spell to 24 hours duration after hearing the declaration of war from the enemy sea elven general. During this time I traveled to the capital frontier city that was being used by the sea elves to coordinate their forces. I hung around a kilometre above the seabed and used a combination of a few metamagic feats to enhance the spell 'Dispel Water' to 44400 cubic feet of instantly destroyed water, which translate to 1257 cubic metres of water, or 332.064 gallons or 1.257.000 litres. This halted the timestop, but was easily re-cast. I teleported back to the party, used the remaining 14.398 rounds of timestop to meditate on my previous actions and the course of actions for the next weeks. I used a scrying mirror with a clairvoyance spell to view the impact of the spell on the city when the Time Stop ended and held the mirror towards the sea elven general, showing him how the city he just traveled from not more than a day ago, was leveled in just about half a minute after declaring war on my kingdom. I was declared the arch-heretic because I, as a landwalker, destroyed so much water in just an instant, this particular kingdom learned to keep my kingdom alone.

I have a character named Terry, whomst is a Firbolg Fighter. Though calling him "just a fighter" would be a rather big error, as the DM let me use this homebrew subclass that acts more like a Fighter-Warlock gestalt then a subclass. His patron is a Fey, and while that may sound kinda funny, never underestimate fey (they will screw you over). Terry used the shadow saber and hex spells a lot, though since both were concentration I couldn't use both at the same time. But all changed when I asked my patron (very politely) if they could enchant this Saber I've been carrying to activate the shadow saber spell. When I got it back, my +1 hammer still remained my best melee weapon, but when I want to pull out all stops, I pull out the saber and all hell breaks lose. The reason the saber is so horrifying is that, while Terry kind of dumped dex, it's still a finesse weapon, dealing 2d8 + strength psychic damage. Add on the fact Terry has the dueling style, is getting 2 attacks per turn (3 as of now though), his strength is maxed out, the saber doesn't require concentration or even a spell slot to keep up for a minute, and you can use hex for an additional 1d6 damage on attacks, and you got an absolutely horrifying melee threat. The average per-turn damage fyi is 39, though this is assuming Terry makes 2 attacks. This isn't taking into account how Terry has recently reached 11th level or action surge doubling this number again.
@skeepodoop5197
@skeepodoop5197 2 жыл бұрын
Ps. if I spend 4 charges of the Saber in a day, it loses the magic after the minute, which is why I usually only use it once a day at most. Usually I don't need it too often, as my +1 hammer does everything it can do, when it's a regular saber.

Pathfinder. My strongest character was a kobold. A build I made with spite at the GM that kept saying that: "Kobolds are a weak and unplayable race, made as a joke" To add insult to injury, I decided to: Not wear armor or weapons besides unarmed strikes or natural attacks and also take the draconic paragon feat chain. Mythic was available for the campaign. 2 Lvs of ranger for 2 permanent claw attacks 1 Lv of Monk for Wisdom to AC and unarmed strikes 14 Lvs into unchained rogue Tail Terror for a tail slam Two-Weapon Fighting and Improved Two-Weapon Fighting Ring of Rat fangs for a bite (homebrewed into dragon fangs and not causing rat features on the character) 2 wing attacks (winged kobold with draconic paragon and powerful wings feat) 1 Gore attack from helm of the Mammoth lord Multiattack Monster feat (GM ruled that I qualified for it, with kobold technically being a monster race) reducing secondary natural attacks penalty from -5 to -2 With a BAB of +13, I had 3 attacks (+13/+8/+3) +2 attacks from TWF, +2 claws +1 Tail +1 Bite +1 Gore +2 wings, totalling 12 attacks in 6 seconds. Each with 7d6 sneak attack and DEX to damage (+9 modifier), and +2 from the amulet of mighty fists. (+22 / +22 / +17 / +17 +12/ +22 / +22 / +22 / +22 /+22 /+22 / +22) For defenses I had the Rogue talent for ninja trick shadow clone and ki pool to create shadow clones. And on top of that, I took the Titan's Bane Mythic ability, which allowed me to move into an enemy square if it was 2 sizes larger than me... **and consider it flat footed against my attacks**. So you have this 3ft winged lizard with 1-4 shadow clones hitting large enemies twice per second destroying their internal organs... and could do the same to any medium sized creature if I used a wand of reduce person, as being tiny sized would mean Titan's Bane works on a medium sized character. Needless to say, the GM enemy roster switched mostly to enemies immune to sneak attacks, having high DR or gave them abilities to avoid me from performing a full round attack at all, because at that point I could potencially gut a Great Wyrm in 6 seconds. By the end of the campaign he decided that no kobold had any bussiness being that strong and had a magical artifact we found turn me into a true dragon. Mission accomplished.

In a Shadowrun/ Cyberpunk hybrid campaign I have a character with the handle "Bass Drop:. She's not your typical cyborg at all, being referred to as a "Strong Will" which means she can install cybernetics past her essence score, the downside being, if she goes past 10 essence, she's no longer a sapien but is instead a big fookin toaster. She has speed adjustments wired through her body, allowing her movement speeds to exceed the ability for the human eye to keep track of, 4 replacement limbs, with jump enhancers, strength augmentation in both arms and legs, cyber eye enhancements that track at her own speed, flash compensation, infrared spectrum vision, minute and macro vision, the ability to see sound and hear light, two very sharp katana's capable of not only cutting through other cyborgs but leaving very deep fissures in concrete. (Think lightsaber but sonic), the gm even tricked her out with full body armor and a tactical helmet that tags opponents, allowing her to know where they are within 250 meters, with walls being no obstacle as the tag blip just shows through them. To make it worse she is Max skill in melee and in dodge. So, hyper toaster girl appears like a blur in combat, hits like a truck, cuts through an orphanage like butter, and knows where the pwnt are at all times. She also can Matrix dodge most incoming attacks like they were moving half speed. Add to that max agility and reaction and you end up with a hyper death ferrit that has issues with authority. The scariest thing about her is all that alphaware comes off as "medical implants" to most scanners, and on the surface, she doesn't look chromed out at all. The exception is her eyes, which appear like tiny woofers and subwoofers pulsing silently to club mix's that nobody can hear. "Well, let's get this party started with a Bass Drop!" is what the team leader usually laughs out when the security teams pour into the room lmao. Although, she is not my deadliest creation she is one of the scariest, don't let the hyper sugar rush personality, big bright eyes, lavender hair, and sweet smile fool you, it's a cuisinart and you are a future slurpy lol. She dances when bored, dances during combat for comedic effect, dances while the groups planning, dances just about anytime others would be idle, giving her the look of being permanently restless. If you really want her to like you talk about music a lot lol. It's hard to believe the inspiration for her came from the song Professional Griefers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fqOVc5ZrprKbe5Y Her favorite dance style: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJikaXeEnM-egKM Scared yet? 😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣

A Passive Perception of 26 at Level 4. A svirfneblin mastermind rogue who just loved books and preferred to solve problems with smarts rather than fighting. With a Passive Insight of 24 as well at the time, no one could get anything past him, and the bad guys of the campaign only took a couple sessions to snuff out. Unfortunately some drama ensued in the group irl and it sort of broke apart. But just for fun I wanted to see what his Passive would be at Level 20, and it was something like 32-36. I think my favorite concept though is a high AC. It's not even difficult. At level 1, you could have a high AC no problem. Make Dexterity one of your highest stats then pick a class with a Fighting Style (Fighter, Paladin, Ranger) and go with Defense for a +1 when wearing armor. Choose gold for your starting equipment and buy studded leather and a Shield for a total 55gp. At level 1 that's 12 + Dex (2 with standard array) + 2 + 1 for a minimum of 17. 20 if you managed a Dexterity 20 for rolling stats. Then if you can manage your hands on +3 studded leather armor and a +3 shield, by then your Dex should be 20 and you'll have an AC of 15 + 5 + 5 + 1, for a total 26. You're now harder to hit than ancient dragon. And that's basic, you could get a Ring or Cloak of Protection on your journey, or a Defender Blade to add another +3 for a round. And, you can take the Magic Initiate Feat and learn the following spells for extra defense: -Shield for a +5 as a reaction to an attack, lasting until your next turn. -Shield of Faith for a +2 up to 10 minutes -Bane on up to 3 creatures, who are now forced to subtract a d4 from their attack rolls and saving throws for up to 1 minute. All that added up is either 32 or 35 for a round depending on if you take Shield or Shield of Faith with your Magic Initiate Feat. Studded leather is better than almost every other armor, and Magic Initiate has no prerequisites, so it's basically a free setup, the rest depends on how much you wanna dedicate to that AC stat.

Homemade Spell: VonSchlupe’s Equinox Flux. This spell is a 4th level that I spent a little over 4K to create, and requires a ruby and sapphire each worth 250gp as components (does not consume). Range 120ft, radius 20ft. On the first round, this spell deals 2d6 cold damage to everyone in range by sucking all that heat into one concentrated area. This leaves a blue fire bird, which on the start of your next turn detonates to deal the total sum of damage to everyone STILL in that area. Normally not superior to good ol fireball, but in enclosed spaces With tons of fliers it detonated for well over 100 points of fire damage. It was insane, so back to the drawing board for balance.

Not an ability, but in my sessions I intend to always have a JRPG style superboss protecting a rediculously strong weapon: the Golden Gun. A clear 007 reference, this gun deals some major (and by that I mean almost always lethal) damage, causes anyone who ends up at gunpoint to experience intimidation worse than what a max charisma bard can put out, and only a god can resist it. This rediculous power is counterbalanced by having only 7 bullets, said bullets being nearly impossible to make if you want more, being fragile, being quite difficult to hide, and the person who holds it finding themself in more trouble. Safe to say that if they don't want to waste the Golden Gun they'll have to become a superboss themself. In other words, the Golden Gun is basically a catalyst for characters with terrifying abilities. They probably won't want to waste their shots but become a walking "kick me" sign for tough foes, causing them to want to become stronger, which then causes the foes to become stronger, so on and so forth up until they either drop the weapon or become strong enough for the gun to lose it's purpose. TLDR: I made an overpowered gun with fiercely limited ammo which incentivises a player to become so strong that the gun basically becomes redundant.

Be me: Mountain Dwarf, Level 8 Battle Master Fighter (wizened old blacksmith with a severe distrust of magic, and refuses to use magic items) Last week's session, my party and I were in the throne room of a Dragon King. We were turning in some MacGuffin or another, when the back wall was blown out behind the king, and in rushed four adult red dragons, an ancient red dragon, and an evil PC played by one of the other players in the group. For clarity: we all have multiple characters in this world, and every once in awhile, their paths cross. The DM lets us (for a session or two) play two characters until the characters eventually (and inevitably) go their separate ways. A large battle ensues between dragons and humanoids. On one side, the Dragon King's forces; on another side, the red dragons; and my party caught in the unfortunate crossfire as a neutral third-party. My turn came up, second round of combat. A key Sun Elf NPC had engaged in combat with me, and had inflicted some serious damage already with things like Divine Smite and Spirit Shroud (a tactic that I used on my Hexblade in another campaign, to great effect), reducing my fighter to less than 20 remaining HP. I figured that it was either all-or-nothing at this point because if that Elf got one more turn, I was downed for sure. So I did what any good old warrior would: go out in a blaze of glory! Bonus Action: Second Wind (max healing), and started swinging. First attack, swing and miss with a 14 (6 on the die). A little disheartening, but all is not lost. Second attack, hit with a 22 for 11 damage. Activate my combat maneuver "Trip Attack", and trigger a Strength saving throw to knock the target prone, and deal 2 extra damage. Elf fails the save. Cue devil face emoji. Why? Fighting Style: Great Weapon Fighting (I reroll any 1's or 2's on my damage dice made with a two-handed weapon, but must use the new roll). Level 4 feat: Great Weapon Master (when attacking with a two-handed weapon, I can opt to take a -5 penalty to hit, but a +10 bonus damage dealt). Weapon of choice: Maul (Two-handed, 2d6 Bludgeoning). I immediately Action Surge. I decide to burn as much as I possibly can, to turn this Sun Elf into a brightly-lit smear on the king's throne room floor, before these five dragons turn me into a bearded snack. Third Attack (with advantage against a prone target), I declare Great Weapon Master, and hit with another 22. Activate another Combat Maneuver "Maneuvering Strike", mostly just for the bonus damage. The single attack did 23 more damage (36 total now). Fourth Attack, also with advantage and Great Weapon Master. Hits with another 22 for another 21 damage (57 total), no maneuver this time as I was nearly out of resources, and wanted to save the last one, just in case I need it. Honestly, those damage numbers were actually low as my maneuvers were only a 2 and a 3, and my D6's were against me all night with some 2's turning into 1's. The evil PC immediately calls for a ceasefire, having not planned for the key NPC's imminent demise. Little did I realize that the NPC that I nearly beat to death was the actual target of the attack, and they wanted him alive. We were left with that cliffhanger, and me feeling a simultaneous mix of complete bad-ass and abject terror. Above game, the player of the evil PC said that he nearly panicked when he heard "Action Surge" and saw those damage numbers, and we had a big laugh. If my dwarf dies in the next session, at least I died gloriously!

This is both scary to enemys, But also to our party. This was our DM's idea, but it originates from my backstory. Long story short, my character realized at fairly young age, that he can be very convincing if he decides to. he met a bard, that teached him the bardic ways. (You can guess where this is going already.) As my character bacame adult, he wanted to see the world, be a part of a great adventure to tell tales from. How ever in last 3 years he has found none. well... one, but he doesn't want to admit it. He ran in to female orc, that wasn't quite neutral, but wasn't quite hostile either, so he attempted to charm her, to get away from her. He did something wrong, and that spell took a mind of it's own, and the Orc was a lot more than charmed for servial hours. And my character didn't walk straight for 2 days after those 4 huors. Our DM decided that he could use THAT skill on a chance, And now, she rolls 2 times D20 before the game, and notes what she rolled. If my charm spell hit's those, the DM will not roll a saving throw, as she counts that "with one D20 she can't roll nat 600" Therefore, that accidental spell from my back story goes in to effect. 50/50 do I have some control on the charmed, or am I just along for the ride. While I'm bard, I'm also the only heaing capable character in my group. A monster carrying the charming healer bard away from the party just when fight is about to start. Assuming it's strong enough to do so. I'm playing "small" human. So goblin can't carry me away, While Orc will do so with notable ease. And eventually finding the healer somewhere with very few hitpoints left, 2 healthpotions less, and movement debuff (Max speed 20ft) lasting 2 ingame days / 2 long rests. And no, we skip over the details. But depending what snatches me, I might have to roll constitution saving throws.

This spell is recasted every 8-24h (and every couple of minute or so for a cantrip). It has its limit ofc, the spell target can not change, evocation spell put the user at risk (save for darkness), and the user can't be in proximity with an activated stone of lv3+. But yeah you guessed it, this earthbound limb allows for big undead armies to be stored and coordinated.

Not because of the damage that he can do...but that he is utterly, completely, indestructible. A bit of an exaggeration for sure. But a pair of Zuggtmoy Warlocks both blasted him with Finger of Death, and it didn't even faze him. I suppose the most iconic display of his magic was when he used Sleet Storm to stop an advancing detachment of soldiers making their ways through the back alleys of the Lizardfolk village we were defending. Jama doesn't like to hurt people. But the ability to trap an entire military force by turning those alleyways into a blind maze of clouds and freezing rain, forcing them to claw through the frigid muck to try and find any way through? I'd be pretty terrified seeing that happen in a tropical jungle.

my bard has the ability to summon anything up to a size/cost limit (not homebrew, College of Creation, Tasha's). I did the calculations, and at fifth level they can summon 1k pounds of iron, at tenth it's 2000, which if you cast enlarge on it, and then use performance of animation, you can float it above an unconscious or sleeping enemy, and drop 16 thousand pounds of iron straight onto their chest. Haven't used the ability in this way yet, and probably won't because lawful good *ugh*, but it's certainly a helluva combo maneuver. (If you want to pull the "Enlarge won't work because performance of animation has immutable form" argument, that's why i said to do it before using the ability, but if that doesn't work you can always go higher up, drop the animation, and have someone (or yourself) hold enlarge for while it's falling)

My Tiefling Barbarian Ignatius could eat magic items and apply their magical effects onto himself and his soulbound greatsword. He ate a chain of return, and that caused it to apply to his sword. He ate a +1 weapon, gained +1 to said sword He ate a Nexus of Worlds, and gained the ability to slice open a portal to another plane once a month. That came with the stipulation that he had to know where he wanted to go and the relevant symbol of that plane to ensure he got there, otherwise it was a 1d1,000 roll to see which plane he ended up on. After killing and draining Vorinclex of his powers, Iggy gained Legendary Resistance, and gained the ability to consume a spell that targets him specifically- though I was never told what happened if I did, and the campaign died quietly before I could find out. That isn't even getting into how impossible it was to knock him out, he had various feats that each granted a knockout-proof save or buff. I had to look them up, but they were Grit, Relentless Rage, and Last Breath. We had a feat buy system, so this barbarian was overloaded with power in a number of ways.

Eventually my DM nerfed their own homebrew after I used it to deal over 200 damage in one round to a skeleton, given there were three crits. This was in combination with gaining three attacks upon knocking a foe prone and forcing a STR save on smaller foes to knock them prone on a hit(I could transform into a Large size bipedal dragon, though my stats didn't change). In said beast mode, he can jump 35ft long or high from a dead stop, grapple a victim at advantage, force said victim to make a Con save each round against poisoned (disadvantage on attacks and ability checks), while chomping on their face with their envenomed bite ( 1d8 piercing+ DC 12 Con save vs 2d4 poison+Str+Rage) at advantage from Reckless Attack. Plus his proficiency in Alchemist Supplies meant he could set himself or his victim on fire with Alchemist Fire. Hehe, fun times.

Because of a homebrew rule I can upcast animate dead up to 8th level to animate any bones of flesh up to a huge size. I was then given a ring to allow me to animate a size larger so I can animate up to a Gargantuan size.

I've mentioned it in the past but I had a changeling character called Barry/Barium that ended up with the mind flayers need for brains and their ability to gain the memories, personality and fears of the victim. This meant that combined with the changelings innate transformation ability and stats geared towards things like deception/persuasion Barry could effectively kill and completely replace someone which is what made it scary.

I have a minotaur blood Hunter order of the lycan. When he is in hybrid form he goes from resistance to bludging, slashing, and piercing from none magical damage. To immune to that damage unless from magical attacks or silvered weapon's. That's at lvl 3. I also have a tourtle person fighter gunslinger with a censure of air elementals. I used it to summon a living tornado a threw a dragon into the ground from the air with enough force to one hit the dragon.

In a d6 star wars campaign, I played a Tepo Jedi, thank Jedi pistoleer. By the rules, I could add my control/sense/alter dice to aim/damage. If I shifted all my die to the damage I did 1d death star damage. Just for comparison, the blast that took out Alderion was only 6d death star damage. The aim wasn't much but who needs to aim at a death star anyway.

I am currently in a campaign where I play as a Spellforged, basically a elemental. When my character hits 0 hp, I become a bomb. Any creature 10ft from takes 2d8 plus 2x my player lvl, the damage type is determined by the element you have chosen. That’s not the worst part, i must roll a d20, if I get a one, I lose the total amount of damage dealt form the explosion as permanent damage to my max hp and get disadvantage to my death saves. Only Greater restoration or any other strong healing spell can heal my max hp.

I had a dm play for the first time with me, we had 2 players so he compensated by giving multiple classes and levels to each, later on in a normally difficult campaign, I had four attacks per turn, I looked at the dm and got him to agree with some logic and then activated my plan. Fighter tome gave a a nifty skill that allows me to use any skill instantly equal to the number of levels, so I had around 25 uses of cleave with my 4 attacks per round. So I could attack someone 100 times or until they are just gone, this could be done every 30 mins in game.

They can multiply their stats by 2 each turn until an encounter ends. This mean if combat goes quick but has over 10 turns its basically going to become to powerful to manage and the dm would have to bullshit his or her way out of it.

I'm like 90% sure that if he had to, my monk could take out the rest of the party. That's not the scary part, the scary part is the fact that I have the plan down for how I'd do it down to the letter.

I have a old 3.5 character that's a god now and retired as a PC. He's a undead lich named death. He has a spell he made that he called the finger of death. He points in your general direction with either your name or your face in his mind and says dead. You die with no saves. No range cap. He's only used it five times all of which were against God's and very powerful demons.

made 3.5 wizard for a homebrew world almost a decade ago. Feanor elf Wizard turned Lich, turned Worm that walks, turned Demi Lich. Thats right a undead pile of worms that can basically just turn into a swarm of worms and burrow into the ground to dissapear, Oh his Phalactry is one of the worms that composes his body making it almost impossible to destroy due to the afore mentioned possibility. And thats all before he became the Lord of the Realm of nightmares making him a rank 3 deity. He is no the god of nightmares his domains nightmare, fear, and insanity. Basically he can look at someone and make their greatest fear a reality. If thats not scary enough I could give you the details on my game breaking winged halfling cleric of peace that would litterally end combats just by flying over them.

Not my character, but one from a campaign my brother's running. Character is named Frans, and he on the surface looks basically like if Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean was a hippie (character uses a lot of homebrew, not least of all in his race, which in appearance is a fusion of human + mindflayer, in the same way that tieflings are human + demon). Anyway, Frans has the homebrew ability to take on the abilities of opponents if he chooses to do so, sorta like some renditions of Rogue from X-Men. HOWEVER, this comes with the caveat of inheriting their personalities as well, and he can only use the powers of the personality that is currently active. This said, counting his original personality, Frans has 4 personalities, one of which is lawful evil and basically makes him (...well, her, in this case; the body may be male, but this personality was from a female, more specifically, a sorceress who had her kingdom stolen from her and was prepared to commit genocide to take it back) Magneto from X-Men in terms of powers. Now, on one hand, this makes Frans incredibly dangerous in combat as is, since this and one of his other personalities both have powers that let them feasibly deal 50-70 damage in one attack at only lvl 7, but what makes it even worse for friend and foe is that the dynamic these four personalities all have with each other results in Frans acting very much like Two Face from Batman, in the sense of being a morally ambiguous character that leaves so much up to mere chance. Meaning that if the coin flip comes up bad one of these days, Frans just might send a 20 ft metal spear through the head of the party leader (which, granted, may be for the better because the party leader has become a despot in the wake of winning the revolution he's plotted since the beginning of the campaign, but if Frans were to do this, it probably wouldn't be for the good of the subjects).

The last dude: - variant human w alert feat to max their initiative bonus - gloom stalker for early extra attack, more damage, dark vision and passive invisibility to others using dark vision - sharpshooter feat (possibly best combat feat in the game, ignoring all range penalties) - assassin, maximising the effectiveness of the first round and almost guaranteed surprise “Not optimised” Because they’re using long range instead of dual wielding handcrossbows as well??

Little gnome sorceress. Owns a ring of teleportation. But the ring teleports *itself* perfectly. Put ring on index finger, aim finger gun at targets head. Teleport ring into targets brain matter. DM made ring as joke. I turn ring into deadly weapon. Went back to that magic shop to see if I could get 6 rings in total for a "six shooter". DM said that was only ring. Oh well... Oh and to get the ring back, you gotta chop open the now dead targets skull...
