Western cultures rising resistance towards jokes such as these and the actions people have been known to take in response to the people making them means we need that kind of humor more than ever. Humor has an uncanny power to get peoples attention and possibly inform you about another way of thinking. Trying to ban things like rape jokes is not only a gravely unethical assault on liberty, its actually making the situation worse by silencing people who are trying to use a very real method of dealing with rape. On top of that, letting words of a stranger trigger you(not you) into screaming for the offender's silence is far beyond child-like and into the realm of psychopathy.

although you are correct, mWh is a unit of energy and is converted into to joules by a simple multiplication. As we are dealing with a constant 5 V from USB charging, multiplying the mAh by 5 V will give you mWh. So in this case I think it's okay to call mAh a unit of energy as the only thing you need to change it to one are constant.

Except you did not mention the fact that charging your phone with an external battery bank can diminish your device's ability to charge and maintain a proper charge. This is why some of the newer devices like the Galaxies advise you to only charge your phone with the INCLUDED wall plug. Yes, battery banks are great if you get stuck in a bind and your battery is dead but for the long term.. probably not a good idea to always have them plugged into your phone.

Linus didn't mention anything about charging efficiency. when you charge or use your device, some of the electrical energy is being converted to heat energy. so any battery bank you get will never charge your device as much as advertised. for example of you got a 10000mah battery bank and it's charging efficiency is 80%, that means 20% of that power is being converted into heat and you only have 8000mah of useable power. the more efficient it is the more useable power you have.
@chaoticmonkey2438 жыл бұрын
Linus, i think another important point is how quickly the actual battery bank itself is to charge; the input specs as well as the output specs. Its useful to have a 20000mAh battery bank but if it only charges at 0.5A it'll take days for the battery bank to charge and defeats the purpose

Friend. Help me here. When you measure the actual capacity in 5V the "mah" reduces, obviously. Buuuut, the cell phone battery is also a lithium 3.6V, then, the conversion back in the cellphone would not give back this total "mah" in 3 6V? Then, the only discounts in capacity would be the electric losses and resistances cable, right?

Im sorry by mAh is not a unit of energy. The watt-hour is the unit you are looking at. To find for many time you can charge a phone you can not take the maH of the battery and divide it by the size of the battery in the phone. Most battery, in these devices are about 3.3 v that is what the mAh is recorded at. You can find the true capacity like this: Battey size (mAh) - (Battey(mAh/5) this will give you the mAH at 5v we also have to factor in efficiency in the boost circuit which is around 85%. So in general at 20,000 mAh battery is only about 16,0000 mAh on a 5v output.

The 2 amp ones charge faster but the1amp ones have the benefit of keeping your phone powered wile plugged in for longer. This is because when you rapidly discharge a battery to rapidly charge a differint battery more of the energy is wasted, burned off as heat or other inefficiency. 1amp is my preference for this reason.

Linus, got any new recommendations for high capacity power banks? Maybe that'll work with laptops?
@Root1748 жыл бұрын
Dammit Linus, I have just bought one! Although, there wasn't anything I didn't already know :P . The one I purchased was Samsung's Fast Charging Battery Pack of 10,200 mAh for my Samsung Galaxy S6. For some reason, it's difficult to find a power bank that features rapid charging technology, here in the Netherlands. Most of them tend to support 2.4 A at most - which is 12 Watts (5V x 2.4A). Meanwhile Samsung's implementation can be 15.03 Watts (9V x 1.67 A). I'm not entirely certain if ~3 Watts makes a big difference, but I rather be safe than sorry with a power bank that explicitly supports rapid charging technology. Personally, I would have considered the Anker Powercore 10,000 with Quick Charge 3.0 (the 3.0 portion could come in handy in the future), but I can only seem to order it from Amazon and they don't support Paypal - I don't have a credit card - or my country's own iDeal (like Paypal, but through your own bank). The latter was to be expected as it's not used anywhere outside the country, but only supporting CC's is incredibly annoying. Oh yeah, what can also make a power bank's capacity feel lower is how some of the charge is lost through heat and by converting said charge for the output.
@sysnet52524 жыл бұрын
I am always confuse about how much amp needed for each of my device. I have charger & powerbank with multiple output but i do not know how to identify if my device are charging as it should. Can you do a video on how we can calculate & optimize the output for our charger/ powerbank? Thanks
@chill15862 жыл бұрын
It's simple just use this formula to calculate how much watt that your charger/powerbank produce watt=ampere × volt just see that how much volt and ampere your charger has and then multiply it to find watt Also regular devices need 2 ampere
