Vulnerability is showing your bare unprotected self to someone else. It takes courage to be vulnerable, it's not a weak act by any means. It takes strength so strong and noble to do that , because the ego doesn't agree with vulnerability, its job is to protect the self you are so courageously showing to another entity other than you. To be vulnerable is to have faith , and to have faith is to surrender to something else.

You're so right! The meaningful and effective interpersonal communication is a lost art these days! Some can't even hold the eye contact long enough, or to make one at all.

"Practice" in face to face vulnerability involves remaining open to the other person's negativity and ill-feeling. They have the right to be cruel, manipulative, and absolutely unforgiving - to hit you with everything they've got! And you have to go in there with no shields up and let it happen. The only consolation you can allow yourself is that, _in that moment alone,_ you were being more honest with them than they were with you. It doesn't forgive anything you may have done before. Only they can do that, and they have every right not to.

I don’t think it’s good to tell the world how you feel or cry in front of people you don’t even know… it won’t build strength let alone character!! And it s surely a bad habit to expect others to sympathize or feel sad about you.

They're saying things they shouldn't THINK, let alone type out. Human life is too brief and full of obligations to be a forum for in-depth discussion. You spare people's feelings and time, and what you don't get to talk out, doesn't get talked out.

i think the other reason is many people are just lonely. It would be better to share their feelings with loved ones, but meanwhile people online, especially online communities, give them any sense of not being do alone and a place to share their feelings.

Okay, the point about taking risk in relationship I get. However, a person does make themselves vulnerable when they post online. Now, once they get used to that behavior, they likely get used to it. The same can be true in apologizing to people in real life. Try it. Long ago I learned it doesn’t kill you to be accountable. It’s actually freeing.

I cried once because one off my friends rejected me she didn’t invite me on her party which ridiculously hurts me, and she phoned me and apologized.. It took me courage to answer her call and I was crying like shit while she was trying to justify her action… apparently she didn’t invited me because I was too introverted, I’ve ended up feeling that was my fault and something wrong with me, after her call I felt so miserable and vulnerable 😭

"look them in the eye and say that exact same " then they emotionally react and interrupt. often people don't get a chance to finish a sentence, much less a paragraph. sometimes the only way to tell somebody something and get it out successfully is to write it down or record it.

Its also a selfish thing to do because the only reason you're doing that is to get sympathy from others. Maybe people who are going to see your message are also having a rough time, what gives you the right to make it even worse for them? If you feel the need to be heard by someone even if its your best friend, the best way to go about it is to ask their permission first, because you've got no clue what the other person is going through or if they're ready to hear you out.

I disagree. Social media and meeting in person are obviously two different things, but you can be vulnerable on social media is well. It depends on your inner stance, whether or not you are showing something of your self that you are maybe scared to share.
