I came across three bottles of Henry McKenna BIB this past weekend. There was no price tag on them so o asked the cashier how much. He told me $32.99. I asked him if I could purchase all three and he said, “Hell Yeah”. So, I kept two for myself and gave one to my dad as a birthday present.

i found hm10 at walmart while road-tripping through louisiana for $35-bought the three on the shelf. have also found boxes and boxes of it in college station for less than $35-kicking myself in the ass for not buying a case because it was delicious!

I subscribed to your channel and liked your video. I really enjoy your content. 😊 I got into Bourbon a year ago. I’m building up a small collection on a bar cart. I feel like I got into the game late. I live in the Chicago suburbs and there are bottles that I just can’t find. Stagg Jr for instance. I’ve seen it once at a local rip off store for $200! It’s disappointing not to be able to try all this great bourbon out there. I’ve had some luck with grocery stores. They don’t have a large selection, but whatever they get is sold at or near MSRP. So, I’ve started to support them rather than my local liquor stores who try to gauge me. I like your channel because your are a regular guy. You don’t have 5 of everything behind you. I’m hoping to get lucky one of these days on a road trip or an airport. Keep up the great work. I also appreciate that you are not trying to sell shit every video or act like a buffoon all the time like some other channels. 😂

Was in Fla several months ago and found the Heaven Hill bib and loved it. Unfortunately here in Va it’s a unicorn.

Loved the video, question, when Heaven Hill's barrels are used for barrel aging stout, how could I know which they've used? Can I tell via taste or are certain ones used more than other
@peterstefansky27053 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about regular Larceny. I just get a moldy hay taste that I am not a fan of.

Great Job!!! I think the standard Henry McKenna is the best whiskey you can get at under $15, I’ve seen it for $9.99 a 1/5.

I like it too, was really shocked at how good it was for how cheap it was. I think Heaven Hill has the value market on lockdown
@JMo-uh5cd3 жыл бұрын
Love the series, Drew! Random sidenote, Im 99 percent sure that Fistful of Bourbon is using cheap Henry McKenna or an Evan Williams as their "backbone" flavor. If you like the Heaven Hill taste profile, its worth trying

Terrific rundown Drew. Audio was a little rustle-y early on. I really need to crack my bottle of HM10.

I was lucky enough to get a bottle of ECBP A121 great bourbon. After staying away from Evan Williams since a bad night in college it may be time to give the bottled in bond a try.

Seven year Heaven Hill is good for the price. Elijah Craig C920 and A121 are really good. Elijah Craig 18 year is awesome! Never had Heaven Hill select or Parker's Heritage.

i love HM10. ecbp is a little sharp for me and ectb is plasticky. i enjoy the SmB storepick single barrels. good stuff. enjoy your videos and the straight-forward approach. too many channels feel the need to go over the top trying to be funny and it gets old.
@Schwanda.13 жыл бұрын
I’m with you on Larceny. I really wanted to like it as a replacement for Weller, but I’m just not a fan of the standard bottle or the store picks that I’ve had. I have a Barrel Proof bottle that I haven’t opened yet, but my expectations are low. I’d much rather have Maker’s or Weller.

Good overview. Aren't most current Luxco products (e.g. Rebel Yell, Ezra Brooks, David Nicholson) sourced from Heaven Hill? I'm sure that will change now that they've had their own distillery for a few years and since they're now owned by MGP.
@DrewPWhiskey3 жыл бұрын
Correct. I plan to review them sometime very soon.

What is your top recommended replacement for Stagg? I like a strong burning flavor and can't seem to find any more Stagg.
@arbeckWA3 жыл бұрын
One of the best whiskies I've ever tasted was a William Heaven Hill 11 bottled in bond. It was at the distillery. It blew a Heaven Hill Select Stock (wheated mashbill 11 years old finished in cognac barrels) and the Elijah Craig 23 out of the water. This was earlier in my whiskey drinking life though, and I couldn't imagine paying the $140 for a bottle of it (especially since I bought two cask strength bottles of Four Roses right before). I still really wonder if it was that good.

I'm paying 85, when I can find it, for the Henry McKenna here in Texas.

How often do you wet the corks on the bottles you are planning on saving for a special occasion? Like if you had a bottle you were saving for your kids wedding that was a good five to ten years away

Enjoyed the video, loving the series, thanks for the informative content! Did you forget Fighting Cock 🐓 or was it intentionally left off (as you mention in the vid)? 6 yr age, 103 proof, $15.99 on sale in my area. It's my go-to for sharing with buddies on camping trips without breaking the bank.

Heaven Hill actually has 2 different wheated mash bills. Parkers/Bernhiem 51 wheat, 37 corn, 12 barley. Larceny/ OF 20 wheat, 68 corn, 12 barely. To me the Parkers/Bernhiem is a better tasting whiskey

How do you feel about Henry McKenna 10 yr BIB at $79.99?
@DrewPWhiskey3 жыл бұрын
Feels like a stretch. I know I can get it for cheeper than that periodically. I think it really depends on what distribution looks like in your community. At this point, I'd pass over $60, but that may change in the days ahead.

What's crazy is the Evan Williams 12 is like 32 bucks after tax in Japan and is a shelf turd. I had it once, and it did not really remind me of ecbp at all. Very sweet molasses and almost no nuttiness.
