I really enjoyed 8 Mile. As a native Detroiter I thought is was really going to hate it but over all they got the feel of that city correct. Most of the time when you see a crime stricken area in a movie you get a caricature of the place but they kind of nailed it. And groups of friends driving around in a beat up car causing trouble is spot on. Not much else to do in Detroit honestly.
@colbymasvidal23974 күн бұрын
Are all those abonded buildings real?😊 greetings from a European lol
@Gitfiddle4 күн бұрын
@ yeah they’re real. Over the past decade Detroit has torn down many of the dilapidated houses in Detroit proper so it looks slightly better but it is no less dangerous than it’s ever been. If you drive thru any Detroit neighborhood you’ll find abandoned buildings that are used by the homeless, drug addicts, drug dealers. Also great places to hide bodies. A friend of mine actually bought a house in Detroit for $1. This was back during the 2008 - 09 financial crisis. Homes in Detroit were going for a few thousand dollars. He refurbished the home and lived there for a long time until he couldn’t take the neighborhood anymore and left. My brother has a friend who also lived in Detroit. He would mow his lawn with a Glock handgun strapped to his belt. This is a true story but it’s hard to imagine until you see it.

The idea of working with a passionate new comer is an interesting one, I agree there seems to be a good equilibrium when you have varying levels of belief and experience. I think in that kind of circumstance, it circles around the overall experienced person to make more consistent, sound decisions to keep the overall project working, while the fresher, different perspective can point out a different take that the experienced person may never think of as quickly, and then it’s just up to the more experienced person to take that idea and help polish it. It’s a really smart strategy, I think, for just about most things.
