I was just asking myself the same question a few days ago "what fish can I put my future planted bicher tank?" You are a mind reader! 😆

I live about 2.5 hours away from the aquarium, but every now and then me and the family drive down there and check it out. By far my absolute favorite of all time fish store

Try to find the 'neon' rosy barbs. They are much brighter and more orange than the regular ones. Learned about them from Steenfott and found some locally at petco of all places. They're fantastic!

I have 2 Bichers in a forest of Val and the Limia Perugia never get eaten! They breed like rabbits, no losses! I did have some juvenile Trout Goodieds that disappeared rather quickly, however. 😮

Wow I agreed as you know when we talked on my channel on Seachem substrate. BUT, I really thought those strong kessil lights would create algae without more fast growing plant. Looks great and I did not think about that you could dim them down. 😂 Lokks great. Congrats. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Very interesting video I enjoyed it! I’ve been interested in seeing what fish combinations I can get away with in my 400G

A bicher in a big tank is on my bucket list. I’d like to keep it with a couple of oscars.

I think those giant danios (that is a direct translate from the Swedish name of them) was a great choice. The more you add, the cooler it will look. And they are known for being one of the fastest fish for that shape and size... But my food tip can surely make you keep almost anything. Chinese algae eaters would work. You can get them cheap and they are as good as Ancistrus. They come in strong beautiful yellow colour also. Natural they look awful and dull grey. But the yellow ones survive with almost anything. Firemouth Cichlids are super smart. That could work. But if you get like 40 more danios. Would that not look awesome? Thanks for the update. I have been waiting ✌️🫡

Delhezi and Senegal gets smaller. But yours is a lot more uncommon. I have never seen it at a store. I would put in peeled Atlantic shrimp at night every third day. A well fed Mr Tubes is much more likely to relax and just take the shrimp or canned clams until he is really full, instead of hunting. These are like dinasours, they will not waste energy. That's how they survived thousands of years. 👍

the lights look cool. I was looking for some beam lights but they all seem to expensive, high power with active cooling. all I want is the single light source for better shadows^^ any suggestions?

I keep a Senegal Bichir (Godzilla) and 3 Yoyo Loaches in a heavily planted 120. The Bichirs job is to manage my overflow and cull guppy population. He takes his work seriously and is very good at it. I also breed black mollies and I put a few culls in with the Bichir. Surprisingly he leaves them alone. They have grown to adult size in complete harmony. They are breeding and will soon need to be moved. I think Ollie the Oscar will welcome the company. Mother Nature is a mischievous mistress sometimes.

i had a 28 cm ( 11 inch ) bichir lapradei lower jaw , he ate 3 of my senegals upper jaw out of nowhere they were about 15 cm ( 6 inches ) ... in my experience Lower jaws = less active but more predetory , and upper jaws = more active but less complicated with tankmates

This is a bit off topic Did your BCB and undergravel really work
@pecktec Жыл бұрын
The little BCB ones didn’t seem to do anything. I have a bigger one in my pond that didn’t seem to do anything. The under gravel ones do seem to help a bit more than expected. Just go deeper with the substrate if your adding plants too.

@@pecktec Yea its hard to get anyone else to talk about it ? It's like we have this massive mine is better than yours thing going on in the community I really feel this tension in watching both camps I have been keeping fish for 30 years and have been using canisters for my large tanks and a Bog filter for my pond at home bla bla But my Parents want a small tub like pond at there house so I thought ok ill look on UTube for a cheap and easy system that's easy for my Dad to clean if I'm not around I thought Dr Novak's system would be perfect because if something went wrong the bacteria would be fine for days or till i could get there But watching his videos are so intense same with Dr fish ? With your pond are you using the baskets in your filter or just Bacteria pots in the pond with plants ?
@pecktec Жыл бұрын
@@NameName-do9hj I just put 1 in the pond itself right next to where the pump goes in. I was hoping it would help with the algae I get towards the end of the summer. But after two years I don’t see a difference at all. I’m definitely on the fence. I’ve had some success with Novak’s advice. The criticisms sometimes are also compelling. Real science is about always questioning so I do keep trying different things. The BCB basket to me is the one I don’t understand the most. I get the theory but have trouble fully embracing it.
@NameName-do9hj Жыл бұрын
Yea same I'm sort of a science guy because usually it's backed up data But I'm finding it hard to find anyone else that is like Yes this system works I just think I'll go with the plenum in the small pond and a top sump with sponge bio media and maybe a BCB basket at the final stage before the water returns to the tub pond Thankyou very much for your advice You really have helped me with my decision Great channel by the way
