What can we expect from these Studio Series 86 characters?

The deluxes are going to be Scavenger and Bonecrusher (the arms) since they'll likely have partsforming for Devastator's forearms since when in arm mode they're basically in their vehicle mode so not much else to do there. Scrapper and Mixmaster are Voyagers for the extra engineering however we don't know about Hook and Long Haul yet. Some think they'll be in a Commander Class set that will have the extra parts to put on Devastator.

Here’s what I think SS86 should do, 1. Improve his matrix chamber, it was like Magnus’s matrix chamber not just opening his chest 2. Improve his truck mode, as much as i like the Earthrise truck mode, it doesn’t look nearly as good as SS86 Magnus’s truck mode 3, improve his front wheel kibble, I would like them to do what DR.WU did and make the wheels fold into his side 4. A core class sized roller, 5. All the accessories 6. No fake parts like Earthrise 7. Switchable battle damage like the MP

Most likely what theyre gonna do is do with 86 megatron is what they did with 86 bumblebee, where they design a figure that can be easily retooled to be re released for a gamer edition devastation version of the figure (i assume that because the backpack on 86 bumblebee is more accurate to his devastation vjdeo game model, rather than his 86 animation model). So megatron will most likely be a tank, but I can see them giving him his gun form as an accessory to the figure, and technically you would have his screen accurate alt form from the movie, and it is scaled accurately to how it appeared on screen, in the hands of his fellow decepticons.

I'm still thinking megatron will be the pre converted to Galvatron mode purple colored megatron with white grid marks and then he can be a purple gun and then Takara Tomy can make a repaint with accurate G1 color one since they don't have the gun laws over in Japan like here in america

I will be really disappointed if the SS86 Optimus is a retool of Earthrise. Unless they can make the lower legs look exactly like the animation and the front wheels dont store in his lower back.

They can easly justify SS86 Megatron turning into tank. They will say something like in the movie he transformed into a small gun for character to wield so to represent that he will have his gun mode as an accessory and then they say he was a "secret triple changer" and had a tank alt-mode, he just never used.

i dont think megatron is going to get his gun mode back, but i could definitely see an included accessory to represent it. all of the scenes of his gun mode are when he’s shrunk down and, crucially, being wielded by another character, and a leader class figure isnt going to be wielded by 86 starscream anytime soon. i think it would be more worthwhile to make him a really nice tank and include a gun accessory for recreating scenes with other figures.

Would be interesting if Megatron is sold as a leader to accomplish 3 modes, the tank mode, and a secret or hidden gun mode only seen in the instructions

For Optimus, a part of me feels that a way that Hasbro could justify the Commander Class price point would be to make a transforming Roller, i.e. give Roller a robot mode. Considering what they did with the Ark by giving that figure Mainframe (AKA Teletraan-1 with a robot mode), there is precedence for them doing that. As for Megatron, I feel like how they’ll get away with it is by making the robot mode as perfectly screen accurate as possible. Yes, the alt mode isn’t right, but at least the robot mode is near flawless. Plus, aside from the massacre aboard the Autobot ship, most of Megatron’s major moments from the movie were in his robot mode. Finally for Devastator, I wonder if they’ll try to make him scale with Omega Supreme? Considering we have 6 bots to work with this time (as apposed to just 5), and the fact that the Constructicons history with Omega was a pivotal part of the characters’ story in G1.

I feel like the only real issue I had with Earthrise Optimus is that he reused the Seige legs, and I would have liked better storage for the front wheels and bumper. The Seige Optimus had the wheels tuck into his abdomen, so if they could somehow keep that engineering (or maybe engineer them into the legs with new molds), I think we could get a nearly perfect figure. Reworking the trailer would be nice, and maybe adding the operating table he died on to help reach the Commander price point, maybe some accessories from the Autobot City Battle? Idk. That's all I could really think of atm.

Studio Series Optimus needs to have three things, in my opinion, to make it a worthy successor to the Earthrise mould: 1: Needs to be slightly upscaled. Not by much, but it definitely needs to be an inch or so bigger. 2. Cartoon accurate colours. Yes, I know we're going to be getting a cartoon accurate Earthrise mould in the Takara 'Dramatic Capture' Autobot 3-pack, alongside Jazz and Mainframe, but he'll still be the same Earthrise mould. 3: A DECENT Trailer. This will also need to be that little bit bigger. I have a feeling though, that SS Optimus WON'T come with a trailer.

It's just an idea, but i could see Megatron having a tank mode but his cannon could have a second form and transform into his gun mode. So that he doesnt transform into a gun but we still get a gun

They listed the Constructicons as individual figures. I think it's 5 deluxe and a Voyager, if I remember rightly? With Megs, I don't care about the alt mode as it will be a tank. As long as they find a way to make the robot mode as perfect as possible, even with parts forming to take alt mode parts off, I'd be happy. Optimus, I reckon, will be like Rodimus. Amazing Voyager scale robot, then the other 40 pounds worth of budget will be an amazing trailer like Rodimus. If Roller hinders the quality of the trailer or other accessories due to budget constraints, I'd happily have a separate roller at Core Class. Galvatron is my favourite G1 character and if they use the Kingdom mold, I'll be writing a letter! It's amazing, but he needs to be perfect to be SS86. Even a partial would still need to be perfect, but that would do...again...as long as it's perfect.

I think most ppl don't care about Megatron turning into a gun or tank as like ng as the bot mode is mint. However, maybe give him the Shockwave treatment and he be an upside down submarine or something.

I'm hoping HasTak just builds a NON transforming MP level G1 86 Megatron with great articulation and include a scaled P38 accessory that can be held by other bots. I don't think SS86 Megatron has to transform, just make him look perfect I think that's a perfect concession. If he's a tank, it's a pass. I know he'd be a poseable statue, but I'd be fine with that. He'd look super sexy.

The new Optimus should not have the front grill and tires where it just rotates to the back bit rather but instead hides into the body. And yes, hide the rare tires by rotating into the legs.

We need Megatron to be a gun period! There's toy guns all over the place so there's just no real reasons for it ! The constructions that last shipped look like trash! I hope the do them good this time especially because everyone wants these ! They will probably be deluxe class with the longhaul being the leader class .

Earthrise can be improved by: more proportional torso, diaclone paint, do NOT hide the legs wheels (I HATE the unnecessary complexity this adds), roller, axe, more proportional Trailer,and change the legs so that they don't swivel around. That's frustrating

It's going to be incredibly difficult for Hasbro to outdo Oversized Jin Bao Gravity Builder with the 2.0 Upgrade kit. That's currently my Devastator, and he's as big as WFC Omega Supreme.

With the autobot ark set coming out for Takara, hoping for the screen accurate paint job and better trailer for Optimus! Takara set looks like just a repaint of the cab, no trailer. For Megatron, outside of the head sculpt, can't imagine it can be terribly different than the Nemesis Bridge set.
