I mean no disrespect in saying this but you sound exactly like one of these suit wearing corporate shills at the mega carriers when talking about these cameras. I also think you made an excellent point when saying that every driver is distracted, we've got gauges, speedometer, GPS, e-log and most importantly the general public around us while operating a CMV. However you fail to see that these cameras have nothing to do with changing behaviour, safety or bad habits. They just aren't effective in that way. See all that needs to be seen to prove fault in the event of a collision or incident is the camera facing out of the window.... that is it. The driver facing camera can ONLY be used AGAINST you. "Oh look your honor, the driver yawned an hour before my client cut him off and hard braked in front of the driver, he must've been fatigued!" These cameras are mainly pushed by big insurance companies to prevent them from having to pay out. These companies are not run by total idiots, they know the five time felon who obtained his CDL from a crackerjack box is going to hit something within his first week but the insurance giants are hardcore pushing for these cameras. It's on us the drivers and companies to start pushing back against this crap. What you don't realise is that this is only the beginning of this nanny-state bullshit. We give them an inch and they'll take 1000 miles... There needs to be a fine line that cannot be crossed and those cameras cross it. I started truck driving very shortly before the cameras were an industry standard, the whole reason I and millions of others got into this industry was to escape the "looking over your shoulder management style" wanting to be independent and treated like an adult. Those cameras completely eliminate that freedom. I have and will leave any carrier who installs these in their trucks. I am currently in the stages of going o/o to avoid this crap entirely. If the laws shift and it becomes a requirement for every truck to have one installed, I'll leave this industry for good. We need to have limitations. Grow a spine and leave these companies, only then will this shit stop.

Listen. If you’re leasing at prime and you like the truck you’ve got but you’re not for the camera…take the lease truck to another company. It goes against your best interests anyway running for the same company you lease from. It’s insane how many prime drivers are unaware that you can do that. They can’t hold a truck you’re actively leasing, hostage at their company unless you’ve got an unpaid balance with them. I know this because I’ve done with it a standard lease.

“In 2017, a Quebec court ruled that driver-facing cameras on Canadian trucks violated employee privacy rights, and ordered Sysco Quebec to remove them. However, the decision was not binding on the rest of Canada. Several court rulings have since struck down the use of these cameras, citing violation of privacy laws.” Of course this is Canada and not the US but goes to show it’s possible. Or ideally should be possible in the US anyways. The crazy part of all this is that drivers spend most of their waking lives in a truck, so it seems privacy would be an issue if under constant surveillance. But companies have complete control over the lives of OTR drivers. They are told to go beg for a job elsewhere. Either comply, or starve. if drivers want to take back the work place and practice some control over their own lives they have to ORGANIZE. There is no other way. Sooner or later drivers won’t be able to leave and go look elsewhere. This will become industry standard, and not enough trucking jobs to go around for those who don’t want them. Had prime inc drivers a vote in their own company, they would have easily voted NO to cameras. But you even mention the word union to some of these guys and they are either misinformed or shudder at the thought due to some political bias. Deregulation has killed everything, but unions want to bring back stability. - Get rid of the logs, get rid of cameras, fair pay, etc. But as far as I’m concerned, at the moment, all the drivers in the industry are sitting ducks and just waiting for things to get worse. Unless some drivers decide to finally organize and do something of course. Which seems unlikely at this point in the game.

Its true. Its not your truck so as a company driver get fired and get replaced or keep drivijg and work your way to Owning your own truck. Now, given the fact that theres going to be a spy in your truck, production will slow down, could be by a lot or little. Every time someone calls or text you, pull over because you have to be "safe." This goes for looking for directions on tablet or phone and/ or drinking water.

Damn I wanted argue this point but he nailed it by saying you can’t prove being in a drivers seat isn’t the workplace. Because technically you’re supposed to be off duty if you are doing anything other than work…and that’s when the cameras are off supposedly. But even then, you have the right to to cover them once you’re off duty.

It’s just what the paccar trucks do. I’ve had both KW and Pete and I’ve had Cummins and paccar engines and they all drink coolant. These are the T680 and 579 trucks. I can’t speak for other models throughout paccar. But adding coolant every month was normal for me and weekly during the hotter months.

@jordan2735 Has anyone checked the charge air cooler? It's a heat exchanger of coolant vs exhaust gas. If a hole comes in it your coolant will slowly leak into your exhaust and flash to steam and you'll never see a leak and it's not enough water to see it as steam coming out the stacks. I had it happen on a Freightliner century class. At that time, if you had already replaced it and the replacement had a hole come in it you had to get on a waiting list. This was epidemic among Freightliner.

How do you really know for sure? Even if they were recording 24/7, the company can just hand wave it away and say "oh sorry that was a software bug. We've fixed out system" . This tech is a slippery slope and will be used to fire people. Itched your nose for 1 second too long causing you to look away? Ding Ding. Video added to your employee file and sent to your insurance company. It's a credit score for truck drivers.

@timtravels116

Sort of. However, the gray area gets washed out for two reasons I can think of: I’m pretty sure the Success lease says that the lessee agrees to equipment additions and deletions during the term of the lease. The other reason is that everyone is running under Prime’s authority and if someone refuses to permit installation or use, Prime will just terminate the contract.

For your BP, do like a 2-3 intermittent fast like the 16/8 or 20/4 timelines. When you eat focus on sodium free or low sodium foods. While still doing your meds. Only drink plain water, nothing with caffeine. Caffeine will affect your test for like 24-36 hours. That’s why I say a 2-3 day Intermittent fast. That way you can lower your sodium and caffeine intake and let any caffeine e in your system out.

@@wendymorris3689You’re overreacting to this. That seems to be a common theme amongst people who comment on these videos. You’re hauling thousands of dollars of merchandise across state lines in a truck that probably isn’t yours. They have every right to monitor how you drive and what you’re doing while you’re driving. Just like banks have cameras watching the tellers, or grocery stores have cameras watching the cashiers. Grow up! If you can’t handle accountability you shouldn’t be working.
