I am a recovering alcoholic that drank for 20 years. By the end I was jobless, homeless in my car, and out of options. Luckily, I got help, went to treatment, and am now 13 months sober. To anyone struggling you are not alone and people can and will help you. If I could give anyone advice, if you are detoxing from alcohol go to a hospital or detox center. People can die from alcohol withdrawal, I almost did because I just detoxed by myself. Do not do this, get a professional. Addiction is terrible but only quit if you really want to. The choice is yours, no one can make you and don't quit for someone else. Quit for you.

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!

0:40 Although coffee isn't a drug or bad, if you use it very often your body will actually make more adenosine receptors to tell you that you're tired. The extra adenosine receptors will go away after some time if you don't drink any more coffee.

Honeestly whoever created these substances Did more harm than good But its sad that these creators had good intentions mostly to help people medically etc. But unfortunately their creations were abused to death and caused sooo many trgedies

I know it’s hard to stop, but one day you will overcome the addiction of reading comments after watching a video. I know you are reading this one too 😂😂😂

Since one of the main functions of the NAc is reward, I’m assuming damage to this area could lead to motivational issues or depression since it would diminish feelings of pleasure.

just realize and stress now and put all your fate and responsibility on your future-self; on your momentary decisions to weither you will quit or not. DONT TAKE TOO MUCH STRESS RIGHT NOW, ANY MOTIVATIONS YOU HAVE RIGHT NOW, AS PER FACT IT WILL GONNA COLAPSE.

I feel sometimes that I am slowly going back to my mindless scrolling addiction. I feel like my mind is restless and that I always need to be stimulated. I'm aware of my potential struggle, but I still somehow keep reinstalling apps or logging in again.

the payoff for using is fantastic, but there is always a downside. With alcohol I get freedom from anxiety, but it's like the alcohol is *lying* to me because the problems with heavy drinking are felt strongly. ...real health issues, emotionalism, and in the end anxiety.

Substance abuse disorder is something i have and it's difficult to truly understand unless you have it.

Probably because there are so many complex combinations of motivations to abuse substances. I can't blame anyone for wanting to numb themselves.

The root of all addictions is the belief that we get happiness from what we are addicted to, even though we sometimes deep down know that to be false.

I don’t get addictions. I don’t drink alcohol because it tastes the same to me. And yes I’ve used hard drugs. But I never get withdrawals or addictions. I’m lucky I guess it’s genetics. I’ve also never had a headache or ever experienced brain freeze from eating ice cream. Honestly I wish I could get tested somehow to see what makes me different. So I can help people who suffer from addictions.

It’s almost like the solution is to make us A) less adaptable to new substances that are in our body B) more sensitive to the drugs so that a little goes a long way That way we could all use it in small doses and get the same results with no tolerance over time if we chose to use it. Honestly, if drugs weren’t so devastating and addictive, it would be a lot easier to make them legal and then regulate their use and sale. It could single-handedly end the war on drugs and the devastating impact addiction has on individuals and their communities.

interesting! We'd have to change who we are at a fundamental level. Including personality...
