A year ago I tried Inline skates for the very first time, I practiced how to skate for more than 1 hour and took them off, in that instant I had the most terrible prolonged cramp of my entire life. Even later when I used to practice, I felt a bit cramp and sore in the arc of my foot. Now I know why! Thank you for your videos and teachings!

Absolutely! Tension is normal when you start skating but you need to focus into it and consciously relax it in your few, body everywhere. This is not easy. But start with the feet and work upwards...

I have a marble lump just above where you were pointing at your tendon and it won't go down also the ankle bone on the inside I have a little bone there to and it is slowly sticking out more and more and most of the time I am skating correctly with good knee bend right over my toe. the only thing I can think of is the two pair of seba blades I wear have inbuilt liners and I am almost pain free with them but I can't wear them all the time cause 1 pair is for aggressive and other is my 80mm setup that I've changed to 90 for my 28 to 32km distance skate that I'm so glad that I can do 5 times a week but I love wearing my power slide megacruiser pro 125's they are great for my long distance and my power slide mega cruiser pro 125mm and rollerblade 110 mm are the ones I get most of the pain and they have removable liners could it be as simple as my foot don't like the removable liners even know I changed the power slide megacruiser liner to a intuition liner and that is now feeling better but them little bones are still annoying me and the odd blister.hehe Thanks Darren ps: I know you are probably very busy but I miss all of your tutorial vids cause without them and a few other KZbin rollerblading tutorials this 50 year young man would not have been blading for 2 and a half years.

I'm going to ask a question now that might get us closer to the reason...... Have you noticed if on the larger 110 and 125 wheels you pronate at all (even just a tiny tiny bit)? If you aren't sure then the best way to find out is to ask a friend to film you from the waist down directly from behind. If you do you'l see it straight away. A small pronation over long distances and repeated 5x a week could cause foot pain. People are much more likely to pronate (even slightly) on larger wheels as the edges are harder to control. I've seen quite a few skaters going up to larger wheels and then complaining for foot/ankle pains. So check that out to rule it out. I don't have much experience with removable liners so I'm afraid I can't comment on that with any authority. That could cause rubbing yes by the fit not being exactly right......

On my powerslide 125mm I think I am skating with the best technique but on my Seba 80mm or 90 mm setup my right knee which is funny cause I am right handed but in rollerblading my left leg is my strong one but anyway my right knee was badly going on the inside of my foot when I was bending my knee so to fix that I moved my frame I think all the way in so my knee went straight over my foot and that fixed that and I am mostly very conscious of putting my foot straight down on centre edge and have good knee bend over my toes (Hmmm I don't know who I learnt that from oh yes it was someone named Asha form Skatefresh. hehe) but funny cause I really think on my 125mm setup its so much easier to have a good technique and my knees go straight over my toes and I have great knee bend in these and I haven't adjusted the frame on them, but I will get my buddy to follow me on his scooter( haha good luck with that) to make sure cause when I get into my stride with the speed you get on these 125's I'm not watching my stride as much but it feels soooo good. I took my socks off and experimented with this. An excellent insight. I don't suffer from pain or cramp but I do suffer from not being over my skates all the time, especially when I come up in the knee as you might do on a 3-turn, change of edge or powerpulls. I think I need to learn to maintain that weight distribution by keeping my pelvis pushed forward - I have always felt that focusing on knee bend alone is not enough and it needs to be combined with the ability to stay over your skates even with slightly straighter legs, by using your pelvis and upper body posture. Interested to hear what others think. A lot of advice for beginners emphasizes knee bend, or at least that's what people remember, and forgets to tell you not to stick your butt out.

That's very true, that if the butt/hips stick out a bit backwards then it throws all your weight out and shifts your weight distribution on the skate (from the front half towards the back half of the skate. Also, as the butt goes out backwards this often creates a slight lean forwards with the upper body to counterbalance yourself, so it becomes a series of knock-on effects. The truth is, every part of the body needs to be in the right place, and that's a lot of moving parts! Well done for being aware of this.

Great explanation Asha I shall be looking out for this once I get back to skating. Without harping on, had a nasty fall backwards whilst taking off my skates! One got stuck so I stood up fell awkwardly and right knee collided with left and forced it sideways, damaging the tendons etc. Beware everyone, don’t follow my example! 🤣🤣

Great video! Have been trying to correct tendency for my right foot to pronate. Noticed when standing barefoot with both feet together, knees bent, I see my right big toe smack dab in the center line (so my knees are maybe 1.5 inches too far to the right.) Also, if I try to practice standing on my right foot with the knee bent, I have to turn my pelvis (left side turns toward the back) to get that right knee positioned properly squarely above the toes. If anyone has any tips or ideas I would love the help!!!

Great to see you using the video to assess your own feet/knees. I recommend standing in ready position off skates and with knee bent balance on one leg with the other foot off the ground (to the side as if you've done a stroke). Then play around with direction your bent support knee 1-3cms towards the little toes and then back towards the bog toe. try to do this without moving your hips (in front of a miser will help you see this). Notice the leg, glutei and core work needed to isolate these tiny movements. This is what correct skating involves but its harder on wheels and your foot will "rock" on the edges if you do the 1-3cms movement too much. Just being aware of this will help heaps.

Arch pain is also caused by tension in the feet probably because your weight is too far back in your skates from not enough correct knee bend. Name sure your knee caps are covering your toes. Really try to feel your feet when you skate. Are your toes wiggleable and relaxed? With arch pain they are probably stiff inside your boots.

So where does one get those neoproene footies from? Edit: powerslide, found them. Also ( especially with hockey and laceup skates ) lacebite can be a big problem with the anterior tibial tendon, basically just don't lace them up too tight around this area.

That's the precise reason I love quads with a top ankle strap. Gives you the support without the lace bite. Quads have less (zero) sideways wobble issues (you're standing on a brick) so you don't as much ankle support as on inline skates. But it's useful to have the laces pretty tight up the ankle to give you as much support as possible. Quaddie tend to have less knee bend that incliners and for them the effects of this are MUCH more severe than for incliners (because Qud wheel base front-back is sooooo much shorter than an incliners so the backwards wobble potential is much higher....and with less knee bend that much more likely...... Basically knees bent for all!

i get pain on my outer edges of my feet, I only started a few days ago feels very achy after 10-20 minutes to the point where I have to take them off is that just my body getting used to using little muscles to stabilise myself? ever heard of people with that issue? I'm hoping it'll be similar to pain felt from a bike seat if you haven't rode for a long time

Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. It's hard to say without seeing you. It could be a bad posture but judging from what you said it sounds like those skates are too narrow for you. If the pain is around the toe box area it's definitely too narrow. I don't know what model your skates are but for example Powerslide skates tend to be narrow so people with wide feet will feel them uncomfortable. This is especially important with hard boots. If your skates are brand new the liner adapts to you during a break-in period, but it depends on the model. The liner may adapt but the plastic will stay the same.

SI exacto. Tu peso debería estar en la parte adelante de tus pies en cada momento en patines. La mayoría de la gente lo tengan en el medio del pie o cerca del talon. Esto es lo que causa la tension en los dedos del pie que causan los dolores. Flexionando las rodillas mas es como vas a poner tu peso mas adelante. Espero que esto te ayuda. Puedes sentir tus pies enquanto patinas? Puedes identificar donde esta tu peso? Esto te ayudara mucho. Suerte x

Somehow I injured both of my knees while skating. I didn't fall but after skating I always felt stiffness in them. After my last session, it was especially bad. Now I spent more than a week at home keeping my legs straight because my knees become swollen if I stand for more than a couple minutes. It's getting better but it's a very slow recovery. It's probably due to my shitty form though: I started only a month ago so I have very little idea what I'm doing.

I'm sorry to hear this. I've heard of this problem many times with beginner skaters. It could be that the muscles in your legs above and below the knees are not strong enough yet to hold the correct skating form. I highly recommend that you check out my free beginner videos and do the exercises off skates (when your knees feel better) and see if copying the correct technique feels less painful. Maybe you could strengthen the muscles off skates doing daily practice of what you see in the videos, before then trying to repeat it on skates later? Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. I have experimented this pain myself. It may be caused by muscles and/or ankle being too tight, but there are some other conditions. Overtraining and hits on hard surfaces will not help. So be careful with your landings and how shock absorbing your boots are. If you have fallen arches as I do you should wear special insoles to avoid an imbalanced ankle. To relieve the pain you will need to stretch that shin muscle called tibialis anterior. To do that sit down on the floor and do like a 4 with your legs, take your ankle with one hand and with the other take your foot and make 10 circles with it in both directions. Also in the same position take that foot and apply some pressure like trying to pull it towards your body (15 secs). Another stretching exercise is to kneel on carpet or grass and then sit down with your butt touching your heels with feet extended. This position is not really easy for most adults, so do it VERY gently. It's not necessary to sit completely, the point is to feel the stretch even if you don't even touch your butt with your feet. Sit slowly until you feel the stretch and keep it 15 secs. Always, the point is to feel the tension being released, stretching should never be painful. If you do these exercises before and after skating you'll be fine.

Pain in the arches is also from tension in the feet over time which yes is from weight in the heels and not the balls of the feet when skating and probably leaning forwards too. Fix those 2 and the mains will probably improve. Let me know how that goes.

Hi. This is Sergio from Skatefresh Team. Yes, and some skates will give you pain in that area until their last day, due to your particular anatomy and the particular skate shape. Fallen arches also emphasizes the problem, so it's important to wear orthopedic insoles if you have that. Even in the case your feet are fine, if you have some pronation during skating, that wrong position can give you pain.

i bought skates a few days ago. the arches in my feet started hurting after my first 10-minute try. Is it the wrong size? Is it my flat foot? Is it because my feet aren't yet adjusted to the weight of the skates? somebody help

Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. If you have flat feet that's probably the reason for the arch pain. You should wear orthotics or special insoles for flat feet, on and off skates. Inline skates aggravate this condition somehow, especially if your boots are soft or if they are loose, that's why it's important to wear those insoles. I have this problem myself. The insoles help but they are not a miracle, you will need to concentrate to avoid pronation and be conscious about it. In time the right position will be second nature and you will not pronate. To fix pronation check this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/oH2WiHifZdVoiqM I don't think the weight or the size of skates can give you arch pain, their shape could however. If your toes are not squeezing in front, your heel is comfortable and you don't feel lots of pressure on the sides then the size is fine. Sometimes feet have a particular shape that doesn't fit with certain models, but if you do have flat feet and/or you are pronating that's more than likely the reason for your pain.

Since I'm buying online, finding out the perfect size for my flat foot is a bit of a challenge but I really want a perfectly fitting skate. I shall let you know the verdict of my experiments, because I know a lot of people struggle with this and there is very little coverage over this issue.

It could be what I'm talking about in the video, tension in the toe tendons due to your weight being on the middle or heel part of your feet/foot due to insufficient knee bend. OR your skates could be too narrow for you and are applying pressure on the foot sideways (ie where big and little toe bunion bones would be). To learn the correct knee bend (and if you're missing that out, I recommend you try this full beginner lesson as you may have missed this info when you started and now have a bad habit of not enough knee bend). Hi Asha, I realise this is an older video but wonder if I could ask your thoughts. I went to see a podiatrist (NHS) a couple of days ago regarding getting pain in the ball of both feet when walking. It was a long wait for just over a year from referral, so I don't have the same level of pain as I did a year ago. The pain is in the metatarsal head area. GP suspected Morton's neuromas, but the podiatrist said it isn't neuromas after full examination. She did say that I have lax ligaments though and has given me foot strengthening exercises. When asked about what exercise I do, she was happy about walking or cycling, but said no to inline skating. I didn't think at the time to ask why not, but I'm confused about the why to no skating. I'm beginner level so no fast skating or anything complex = basic balance, posture, stopping, starting and turning. As I used to own/ride horses and cycle when I can, I fully understand the reason for maintaining good posture. I'm 5'6", weigh 10 stone (UK size 12) and 56 years old (female). I'm just confused about why I shouldn't skate. She didn't give a reason. Thank you.

Nevertheless, we share the same opinion most of the time. Neither of us is a doctor so we couldn't diagnose your case. What we do know about is stances, technique, etc. I can say for sure that during skating you do have to put your weight on the ball of the foot ALL the time. Obviously, this applies to the support leg, the action leg is light, and both legs alternate these roles continuously. Sometimes you do transfer your weight to other areas for a couple of seconds (or less) because certain tricks/turns require that, but inexorably you will always come back to the ball of the foot, otherwise your weight goes to your heels and that's how falls happen. Skates must be snug in order to keep your feet still and to avoid them making strange efforts within the boots. This guarantees that your skates feel as part of your body and therefore you will have control over them. Now... having very tight skates can affect your feet, that's why it's so important to try skates out and make sure they are comfortable before buying them. Tight skates can numb toes, and skates that exceed your size give you problems as well. Just like it is with shoes. Tight shoes are not good for people who have bunions, for example, because they make it worse. That might be the reason why the podiatrist said no to skating, because obviously wearing the boots so much time or so frequently may affect your condition. However, you are not the only one in the world who has a foot problem. Lots of people do and they still skate, I have flat foot and wear special insoles, Asha has bunions, etc. What I suggest is that you get a second opinion from another orthopedic surgeon, if possible get an appointment with a doctor especialized in sports medicine. From what you described I would believe you can still skate, but probably wearing an extra support, wearing a bandage or finding a boot that will make you feel comfortable but in control. That search may seen strenuous but it's how most of us overcome this kind of problem. The strengthening exercises are good and you should continue doing them, no matter what you have I'm sure they wouldn't do you any harm. Again, I'm not a doctor and I have not even seen images, so take my words with a bit of salt. Have in count that neuromas can be detected through ultrasound and MRI.

@SkatefreshVideos Thank you for your detailed reply Sergio. To be honest, the podiatrist didn't say why I shouldn't skate, just that I shouldn't. She did say that I don't have neuromas. I didn't think to ask her at the time. I've seen a GP since then and after going through my entire medical history, she said there's nothing to point to an inflammatory arthritis so no need to see a rheumatologist. I did get a referral for a physio assessment, but that isn't until 30th June, but right now, I'm feeling frustrated about being told not to skate but without any reasoning. The GP I saw (she was a locum, not my regular GP) also said that with recurring joint pain in many joints, along with ligament laxity, means I have borderline joint hypermobility syndrome. I know that I do need to exercise to keep my muscles, especially core muscles, strong to support my joints because my ligaments just aren't quite doing the job they should be. Due to being frustrated with the long wait to see any NHS practitioners, I have made an appointment to see an osteopath. I will be seeing their osteopath who is the most highly experienced with complex musculoskeletal conditions, so will ask him about skating while at my appointment on Saturday. My skates are - one pair of Oxelo Fit3 4 x 76mm and two pairs of Playlife GT 3 x 110mm. The Oxelos fit my feet nicely, like they hug my feet while still being able to wriggle my toes. My toes don't quite touch the front on the inside of the boots. My Playlife GTs are one pair of size 6 (EU 39) and one pair of size 7 (EU 41). I bought both because I wasn't sure which size would fit best. The size 6 fit my feet in the same way as the Oxelos, with the size 7 Playlife GTs having slightly more room in front of my toes (so in that brand, along with any other Powerslides, I must be in between sizes). I have not yet been outside skating on the Playlife GTs, but have worn both pairs in the house to get a feel for the bigger wheels. On my Oxelos, I was out skating a few times last summer learning how to balance, move off, skate in straight lines, stop using the T stop and the heel brake and I also practiced how to fall correctly. I was able to do simple turns and crossovers the second time I went out on them. I didn't lose my balance or fall at any time (other than my controlled practice falls onto my knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards) although, as I suspect any beginner would be, I was a little bit wobbly to begin with due to being new to having 4 inline wheels on my feet. My fitness is at a reasonable level because I'm out walking for at least an hour a day around local fields and woodland with my dog. I also have a mountain bike (for the posture I need so as to not aggravate my back problems). Then, there's the muscle memory I have from decades of owning and riding horses and working in physical manual jobs. I chose inline skating as another way to exercise, in addition to walking and cycling, because it's a very good form of low impact exercise for someone with back problems like I have, to help maintain my core muscle strength and cardio. My reason for buying the Playlife GT 3 x 100s is that where I live, the only places to skate around here are quiet rural country roads = bigger wheels to cope with the rougher surface and grit thrown onto the centre of the roads by cars, especially around junctions. Due to the podiatrist saying no to skating, I've been wearing my Oxelos around the house because I do feel they help with balance and muscle strength (the left one weighs 1.1kg and the right, with heel brake, weighs 1.2kg = good weight training for my feet, legs and core 😉). Freestyle skates are more versatile and have more support than the fitness ones but they are also heavier, costly, and more uncomfortable at the beginning, in general. Fitness skates are usually enough to begin and have fun. Asha's favorite brand for skates is Powerslide but you must understand that is a very personal choice. Asha's feet are narrow so the Powerslide skates fit her great.

Hard boots are what I recommend as they provide MUCH better support and therefore control than soft boots. BUT they do take some time to break in and it's a process. Try not to over wear them in the first outings which can then bruise or make your ankles sore (I did that last weekend with 5+5hrs on new skates). I assume your ankle bones hurt with the pressure form the hard boot sideways yes? It takes time for your foot to make space inside. You can also try Footies which are neuroprene ankle protectors which I always wear and help in this stage. Always get the High Cut not low. Also making a "doughnut" shape out of sponge or padding with your ankle bone in the centre of the small hole can help distribute the pressure away from the tip of the ankle bone. My skates seem comfortable, but any time I wear an inline skate, my right ankle -bone- hurts. I'm feeling it after skating, and there's like a bone bruise going on at the very front of the ankle bone. My left foot feels just fine, and has no issues with that ankle. It's really bizzare. Any ideas?

When you say "front of the ankle bone" where exactly do you mean? Do you mean the tip of the medial maliollus, the bumpy sticky out park of the ankle, level with the achilles tendon? And is it the inside of the ankle or the outside of the ankle? You need to be a bit more specific if I'm going to help you. But mainly it's very hard for me to comment unless I know thee exact location of the pain AND see your skating. In 95% of cases, most ankle/foot pain is caused by incorrect technique and not the equipment. But I can only assess this by watching you skate. But let's start with the location first, OK? Look at an anatomy image and then describe it better please.

Al final, vas a conseguir que después de 15 años vuelva a patinar. El problema es que para mí, volver a patinar significará más dolor. Llevo tres cirugías en los pies, tenía 10 años en ese momento. Al antiguo dolor ahora se suma artrosis degenerativa lo que todo se traduce en dolor crónico. A pesar de todo aprendí a patinar de manera autodidacta cuando tenía 25 años, pero terminé por dejarlo porque no conseguía avanzar y tenía que soportar mucho dolor. Ahora entiendo el motivo por el que siempre me costaba mejorar y con tus vídeos, los orígenes del dolor (además del que sufro debido a las operaciones). Te veo y me encantaría volver a sentir la inercia y la gravedad. Ahora tengo 48 años, con estar una hora intensa de push and glide me basta, pero sé que sería muy duro. Para ir bien debería encontrar una bota de freeskate bien rígida y acolchada, quizas de 4 ruedas para bajar el centro de gravedad y corregir todos los problemas de pronación derivados de la debilidad de mis tobillos, pies y forma de pisar. My boy is 4.5. I bought viva inline skates for him. Whenever he skates his ankle leans inwards. Sometimes he complains about knee pain. I am not sure what to do. Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. That posture is definitely BAD and can affect ligaments and tendons in ankles, knees and even hips. Ankles should not rock in nor out. They should be straight and the wheels should be perpendicular to the floor, not tilted. It's a very common mistake and needs to be corrected as soon as possible, otherwise it can lead to injuries. The pain is just a sign that something is going wrong. One thing you can do is to do the laces and adjust buckles properly, sometimes ankles fall in because the skates are not snug enough, also it happens if the legs are open wide. That's very common between kids. To keep a good beginner's stride steps must be short and the distance between feet should be about one skate width, no more than that. To see how the stride should be you can check this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYfQdGdrgK19bNk I don't know the brand you mentioned, sometimes low-end skates are so bad that can hurt you. Good brands are Rollerblade, Powerslide, K2, Seba/FR, Micro, Flying Eagle. I'm not saying the skates your boy has are bad, but it could be the case. Try adjusting them properly and correcting the posture.

To help the cramps next day I suggest proper foot and ankle stretching after skating and even the next day. I do this after most skates as otherwise I can also get achy or cramps feet afterwards. The feet take a lot of strain skating and all those tiny muscles are used hugely.

Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Yes! When I started skating years ago it was impossible for me to do the scissors, so don't worry, it's normal. It'll come with time. The idea is to practice half scissors first, so you will put your front skate just half way forward. Practice it over and over, and when you feel more comfortable try the full scissors. Besides, try to place some more weight on the back leg. Once you get it you'll love it. It doesn't only allow you to stop, it also provides you a safe and comfortable place to rest when you're not pushing. If you are right-handed you will probably feel better when your right foot is forward, and the right skate should be the one with the brake attached. If you are left-handed is the other way around. Do you think one of my ankles sticks out further than the other? Do you have any advise for solving the problem? Apart from that the skates are so comfortable I would hate to have to replace them.

Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. It's possible but not the best option. The typical recreational skates have soft boots, therefore you will not have the great control that comes with freestyle skates and their rigid or semi-rigid boots. You can start with recreational skates and the most basic tricks but as you progress you will feel the need to upgrade to freestyle skates sooner or later. In slalom there are lots of changes in weight distribution, direction, etc. so the skates must be responsive. Soft boots are too forgiving so the moves will not be as sharp as you want them to be. There are also tricks where you go on one or two wheels and to do that you need proper support. If you don't have it you will be squeezing your toes.

I see some redness around bunion there, do you have pain in that area? I have really bad pain early on after putting skates on on my right foot in that area due to bunion but it seems to go away after few minutes

I'm glad your pain goes away. No I don't have pain there, only when I have new boots which need wearing in and they are tighter than normal. My feet were squeezed into skates from the age of 10 and were often too small and tight so my bunions started early!

Hi Asha, I really like your videos! Sometimes after I skate I have knee pain that is not normal post workout muscle soreness. I’m trying to learn how to plow stop and I’m getting the hang of it but I do wonder if it puts pressure on my knees in a harmful way. Not sure if it’s something my body needs to adjust to or if I might be using an incorrect technique that is hurting me. Would love to hear more about protecting knees in skating. (I’m skating usually on quads. 40 years old, generally fit from strength training.)

Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. It's difficult to say if your position is incorrect without seeing you. The correct technique for the Plow is explained here kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3y3dYSVl6-Fd8U It doesn't hurt your knees at all. Pressure is on your thigh muscles, not your knees, but that's tricky. Being on quads makes it harder because you don't have edges. You could try the Stepping Plow instead which is similar but easier. The explanation is here kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZWYd2ZjdrmYbKc That video is in Portuguese but I guess you'll still understand. And if you are interested in learning progressively with exercises I recommend Asha's online courses. There are some specific for quads that include tricks and several ways to stop, also the Plow or Plough.

I recently got a pair of Powerslide Kaze 3x110 and only the left skate rubs against my inner ankle bone. After an hour of riding it becomes excruciatingly painful. I’ve tried heat molding, footies, thick socks, frame adjustments, nothing helps. They still are a blast to ride so I tough it out and only ride them once every two weeks to let the foot heal. I’ve never had any foot pain with Seba or Rollerblade so I guess Powerslide is not meant for me.

This is the unfortunate truth, that one skate cannot fit all feet. In Seba's my heel moves around sideways and they are agony after a while. Feet are such odd weird things and soooo individually shaped. I suspect your foot is a bit wide. PS are narrow unless you go up a size and then they can be dreamy. Trying on before buying is the solution but this isn't always possible. Finding the right pair is a perfect day!

Many ppl buy Powerslide skates too small as they are a snug-fit shape. In Sebas my very narrow heel moves sideways which creates pain in other places. One skate is unlikely to fit all feet. This is why I urge ppl to support their local skate shops where they exist so you can try on different brands and sizes and get something that FITS your feet. The online buying of skates is part of the reason so many ppl are having trouble I’m afraid 😟

Hi. This is Sergio from Team Skatefresh. Imperial boots are NOT heat moldable, their liners are. This must be done in an oven at a skate shop with temperature and time under control. Doing it with some other methods is dangerous. In the best case you can damage the finish, and most of the time the plastic goes back to its previous shape once the heat is gone, so there is no point on doing it in the first place.

I think I found out my issue - i was leaning inwards more with my left foot. I decided to work on not leaning inwards and letting my leg rest on the side walls of the shoe. Also this first boot I ever bought isn’t the greatest.

Yes you were pronating...... that’s the other main cause of foot or ankle pain.....

So proper knee bend will solve the problem. Btw the skin you're wearing is a killer 🤩

It seems so unconnected but I've tested this with literally hundreds of skaters and for many of them, when they start using the correct (full) knee bend, the pressure on that ankle tendon stops and the pains and swelling then go down. It took me years to discover this, or to make the connection but now if a skater points to that rough location then this is where I start. This tends to solve about 80% of people's pain.
