A tip i heard years ago in Pete's video. - If you get to this situation where you need to color sand your fresh new paintjob and accidentally burn through the clearcoat while sanding , you CANNOT come back with just a paint and blend it and then clear coat again. What you need to do is to wait 2 weeks for the clear to heal, then come back featheredge where the burn through is and use little epoxy primer before blending the paint. Then you can clearcoat. Otherwise the reducer in the paint will react with the edge of the clearcoat where the burn spot is.Happy new year.

Pete, Thanks very much for the review on the Roberlo Clear coat. They sell on eBay and I bought MS clear w/ standard hardener. I also bought their high build primer with standard temp range. But I want to try their orange tape. I have not used any of this product as if I am unsure, on a pickup I could use it between the bed & cab (White top) and in the bed area and pass judgment on it. They list 4 locations (2 in PA, New York and maybe Jersey). Only one store must sell online, but the cans are liters and tape comes in plastic sleeves. Each can was beat to hell, one was leaking, white foam peanuts for packing but they broke open the sleeve of tape and shoved it into the boxes to fill. At this time, I was more concerned with back surgery / procedure number 6, followed be procedure #7 and this type requires software adjustments. Unfortunately, 6 months of weekly trying, engineer adjustments, they did number three. So time passed with my 6'3" lumber burning and mean time I was pissed. They changed my communications with them to list me as a happy ASE Master Tech and eBay couldn't do anything! Buyer beware, but I am living in pain, takes forever to save money for slightly cheaper product and got screwed, and all they said was;"Looks fine to them, enjoy". You get what you pay for in product and customer service, but my 13 year old grand daughter knows better to pack things as they did! Look carefully as their disclaimer say "Cans may have some dents in then" yet arrived in a clean smooth box. Thanks for the review and in a few hours, happy 2023!

@@PhillipHall01 Thanks for you objective input as all is welcome. UreChem products are a favorite of "PHARRAWAY" who is doing custom, restorations and some collision. He uses their DTM Epoxy to cover bare metal, 10% urethane reducer to use as a sealer, but he is hooked on Grant-7 clear coat. Kirker Enduro Prime DTM in black is very hard to get. An employee of Eastwood who quit and moved out of California swears the Eastwood is selling Epoxy as relabeled Kirker. Black has been the largest seller and the TDS sheets look identical. Kirker is moving into a new facility and promises to make Black available after the first of the year. It is clear that today, moving is expensive from building materials, labor, land and permits so selling Grey alone does not cut it without having a long term contract as collateral at the bank! Yes they carrier HOK, 3M and other products as the main competitor is "Autobody Tool Mart". It will be interesting at best. Plus, almost all epoxies have a DTM component in them. Even PPG Vibrance VP2050 is a hybrid of epoxy resins, DTM and a high build. It pours like pudding. It sells for $450 Qt then pick a catalyst of correct temperature. This is forcing many DIYers to scramble. You can't get Matrix or ShopLine unless your PPG dealer is a platinum level. Behind the counter, PPG has close to 7 lines of named product so it makes this confusing. I think this is why many are driven to "SPI" for many of high quality base products with a limited line of colors. But they carry a great clear like "Universal", MS and Euro HS. It is getting strange out here! DK, Omaha.

I never liked a blending clear that makes a wet bed to blend with before the base coat because it is a lacquer based product and will be the weak link on the final finish. True you can get by with a blend I just try to use a slower reducer in the base,it makes a better job but takes a little longer.
@kenmastersmaster Жыл бұрын
Thought it's urethane based

Brother, you need to work on your base blending technique. No reason to have halo’s around your base blend edge. Slower reducer will help, also hard tack between base coats, especially your blend edge. Not everyone can be god at everything, blending is one of the hardest things to get good at, seen tons of your videos, super talented body man. Love all your videos.

It's all in how you use it. I have no doubt this guy knows a lot about painting. But it's impossible for a person to know everything, because of the amount of products and how much they can differ. Because you can use a high solid clear in a blend situation. You just need to reduce it enough. Then spray a blender or reducer over you blend panal to melt that clear in. It's what they call burn it. And that's another helpful method. Using a heat gun. But that is for pros, and something you should watch being done before you try it. Then, it may say wait 3 days. But if you're having trouble buffing and sanding. Maybe you should try and sand it after 24 hours. Could make it a lot easier.
