I love this show, but after I watched Diamond Days I was left a little unsatisfied. I got so much action and fan service, but in such small tandem. There should have been more to Lars and the off-colors, Emerald should have been made as a temporary villain, but I agree with you, the biggest thing for me was the diamonds especially white. The gems take on Blue and Yellow for a couple minutes and then they just *thanos snap* realize who Steven is and take his side, JUST LIKE THAT. Then white, the leader of home-world, the strongest, most feared, and most perfect gem... is in 2 episodes. She is supposed to be the big bad, I wanted an action scene, the gems fight her and then she overwhelms them with her powers. It should have been Obsidian (who should have gotten an episode to explain how Steven new it was a thing and could fuse with multiple partners) taking on White and losing to build up this final threat. Then Steven is able to talk to White and explain he is pink. As for an epilogue season with the time skip, I enjoyed future, but I personally would've liked the idea of a rebellion, some Gems that couldn't except the diamonds just removing all status. That way we get like Emerald leading this rebellion with Jasper as her number 2 (since Jasper is one to take orders from those who have status). They get the Laspises and Bluebird as well as others and fight back. We start concluding with certain characters and ideas. In the end even Steven going one of one with Jasper, getting through to her enough, to get her to turn on Emerald and agreeing to "put up with" Steven and Earth. And perhaps a Steven Connie episode after things have gotten better. We got the kiss, so I was happy about that. But an episode where they do agree to spend their lives together in a more symbolic way would have been a cute/satisfying cherry on top.

There could've been more room to finish off the left over questions from the original series since CN only gave the team 20 episodes for as the show is a limited series. This is a little long so hear me out. You mentioned that the execution of steven becoming a monster would be different, and my proposal is that his abilities would start working in reverse. Similarly to the diamonds in future who developed reverse powers by trying to become better, Stevens powers start working in reverse because he feels he’s getting worse. I don’t know exactly how these changes would go but the original show puts a big focus on him controlling his powers, he even seems to align his self worth with his control of his powers (Which isn’t really shown directly in future but I think is a big reason why he has a big issue with the new powers since he thought he had it all under control) as seen in episodes like An indirect kiss and House guest. Tying everything back to his powers would be a good way to cap off his arc and the fact that not only would he be unable to use the old powers, but have a handful of new ones that he doesn’t have a great handle on could easily lead him to go even deeper into the whole downward spiral.

Cartoon network’s most popular shows have sixth seasons like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and The Amazing World Of Gumball. Steven universe didn’t have a sixth season because it’s fifth season was the final season of the original series and then we got the movie and the limited series that was the conclusion to the story.

to be honest we needed more backstory and development of the side characters I think and address some few issues: -An episode that explores Lapis during the war, her being poofed by Bismuth and put into the mirror and finally having the Crystal Gems apologize to her so she can finally be a full-fledged member of the Crystal Gems and a real friend to them instead of being Peridot's +1. -A Jasper centric episode that also shows a small flashback of her being enlisted with Peridot on homeworld and explore their relationship some more. It feels weird that they didn't interact anymore despite appearing together as a 'team' at the beginning. Maybe incorporated into the episode where they try to uncorrupt Jasper. -There should've been standalone episodes before Change Your Mind where Steven fuses with Garnet and Pearl to give those fusions more meaning. -Lapis should've fused to show she got over her fear of fusion and that it can be something good, probably best to do with Peridot. Perhaps Peridot convincing her to do so. -A small arc with Jasper as the main villain before Diamond Days would've been awesome too, perhaps after the Diamonds appeared and Steven goes out to look for her. Prior to this there should've been that Lapis episode of Future though. I would've really liked to see Jasper trying to form some kind of rebellion of gems that hate Steven. Thus also gathering Aquamarine, Eyeball, Mean Lapis etc. Jasper could've fused with Mean Lapis for a non-toxic Malachite and we get to see Bluebird as well. Jasper having people to fuse with her should've happened, it was a big issue that she didn't feel loved.

Steven Universe has suffered from so many pacing issues. Between hiatuses and the network dictating the show’s length, the show didn’t get to go at the pace that I’m sure Sugar would’ve wanted. I think that SU should have had 7 seasons so that the Future episodes could’ve been better integrated into the main story and the final events of season 5 that weren’t flushed out enough would have had more time to be thoroughly explored. It was still a great show overall, I just wish that Sugar could’ve been granted the creative freedom she deserved❤️

Did white make the rest of the diamonds ? Are there more diamonds ? oh my god that would be epic . Was volleyball actually shattered ? Can we see the story ? What if there is someone like the diamonds who makes diamonds for the same reason the diamonds make other gems . How did the concure homeworld ! ? When ? They said they had many other colonies ! Can we see them ? See their history ! There is so much more than the chest . If we get another I would be so happy but let ' s be honest the show can take more than 1 season and deserves more than one ! Plus cartoon network can justify it because it ' s steven universe future . Not steven universe , The show has so many possibilities ! I want to see them ! And I am not alone .

I can get behind Lars needing more time to find a way back to earth coupled with more confrontation with Emerald, amethyst having her own flashback of meeting rose, and having more evidence to debunk the notion that Rose shattered Pink, but If Steven's mental breakdown happened between Ruby's proposal to sapphire and the wedding itself, as well as Jasper being healed and hearing that Pink and Rose are on and the same, Future probably would not have existed. By the time of the wedding, Steven would have a relatively better head on his shoulders. He would still value his friend's comfort and well being, but maybe he begins to put himself first. Like Connie said in "I am my monster", the only one who Steven's never been there for is himself. Plus, the context of the breakdown would be slightly different due to the diamonds still being a lingering threat. Instead of putting himself down for his pathological need to be needed, he'd be stressing over not only the fact that rose quartz is pink diamond, but what that says about himself and his legacy as a whole. The idea of Steven realizing he's not to blame for what his mother's actions have led to or for circumstances that distance him from his friends; RIGHT before the final conflict that brings it all full circle, would arguably give him less of a willingness to stand for any future complications. Of course he'd still be adamant on reasoning with the diamonds and temporarily humoring their idea of era 3 in the hopes of "making a case for earth", but i imagine him being much less tolerant of their tyrannical, condescending demeanor, especially coming from White. Steven would begin to take on his attitude in Future, holding on to his own idea of era 3, and much more aware of the fact that fisticuffs is sometimes inevitable, and in a few cases, necessary, but without the self depreciation and a lot less of the gulit, mostly because at that point, he'd know who he is. He'd stop feeling sorry for himself and perhaps stop pitying the diamonds, destroying the notion that he is a forgiving character. Steven's pink flare ups would probably be reserved for the movie if they were to happen at all in the franchise, and Jasper and Steven would have no reason to give each other the time of day. If Jasper fought Steven after the initial realization that rose is pink, she'd inadvertently air out how she feels, leaving Steven to power through the motions on both ends of the spectrum and truly earn Jasper's respect. She'd have the clousre he has without even thinking about a rematch. And in keeping with Future having no reason to exist, outside of an era 3 rebellion, which would just be 20 episodes of fan service because i highly doubt a story could be made that's more of an emotional rollercoaster than Steven's downard spiral, Volleyball could have potentially been healed by yellow diamond off screen during the movie. All in all, putting off Steven's mental breakdown until Future was a far more calculated move than putting off some other story arcs that could have had more time to shine. Anything else would have set the stage for a more episodic Steven Universe Future, if the franchise were to continue after the movie.

I’d say it’s the peak of what Steven Universe originally was. I feel as if the show took a turn afterwards to focus much more on characters instead of a big overarching plot, as the main arcs in the show, instead of being a build up towards the return of an alien species over the course of a season, tend to be character arcs in the seasons after the first. The Peridot arc, the Amethyst arc, the Pearl arc, the Garnet arc, etc. take place instead of homeworld or storyline related arcs. I’d say the closest the show got to an actual season long lore-driven story arc after jailbreak was the cluster, which in my opinion had pretty great buildup but a very underwhelming ending. However, overall, don’t think this change is necessarily a bad thing, as I thoroughly enjoyed later seasons and their emotional and truly moving moments, but I will admit the show never did anything like season one again. Season one was my favorite arc in the entire show, as the buildup to jailbreak was quite literally flawless, as looking back almost every episode helped buildup to that episode, ending in a climax far greater than most other shows at the time. I never again felt that genuine dread that I felt about how every action that occurred was all building up to one great big moment, the return of Peridot and whoever she was with. They totally could’ve done something similar for Reunited but in the end, I guess the show wasn’t that kind of show anymore.

I think I would've like to see Lapis and Peridot fusing to take on a mind-controlled Jasper. It would be a great way to have Lapis finally overcome her trauma involving fusion and using it to take on the one who made her fear it in the first place.

Honestly I think the Spinel arc should've happened during Diamond days. When White was aware that Pink was returning to Home world, she would've sent out a broadcast alerting the universe of a New Era, Era 3. Spinel seeing the broadcast would instantly become excited and travel to home world at once where should be waiting like everyone else for Pink's legs to land. Upon landing and exiting the legs Spinel very excitedly would immediately hop on top with Steven, Connie, the crystal gems, and the diamonds only to be shocked by not seeing Pink. The Diamonds would comment on White Pearl appearing before Spinel can inquire about Pink. Ofc White Pearl then request only Pink Diamonds presence as she flies off with Steven once again shocking Spinel. This gives Spinel time to catch up with Pearl and the Diamonds as they remember she belongs to Pink Diamond. When Steven is allowed to have his pet Connie and his Pearl, he's also given Spinel as she's one of Pink's lost treasures. Reunited with Steven and Pearl, Spinel inquires about Pink's new form and reveals what happened the last time she saw Pink causing Steven and Pearl to feel bad so they explain what's happened since then. This greatly angers and hurts Spinel who storms off and as she leaves Blue Diamond appears and they decide to plan a ball as Steven was curious of Pink's job. This goes pretty much how it happened in the episode with Blue Diamond taking over. This frees up Steven, Connie, and the Crystal Gems to be attacked by a newly reformed Spinel using the rejuvenator. Steven is able to talk down Spinel and get her on his side as he try save the gems without the Diamonds knowing what happened. They reform right before the ball but different and odd causing Steven to feel anxious and uneasy at the ball. Spinel attempts to cheer him up to no avail but Connie is able to causing the two to fuse and reigniting Spinels anger. However Yellow is quick to attack and Lemon Jade whom still appears lol. Steven is thrown into the tower with Connie once again and has a Pink Diamond flashback. Spinel shows up as Steven is explaining it to Connie elaborating more on the flashback and taunting Steven knocking him out and causing him to go into the mind scape. Steven goes to Earth and learns of the bio-injector. He teams up with the newly reformed Lapis Lazuli and Peridot , plus Bismuth who were working on the Diamond arms. Unfortunately they can't do much about the injector but tells Steven how to redo rejuvenation so Steven returns to his body and with Connie's help gets Spinel on there side again who goes to Earth to disable the injector. Steven again with Connie's help enters the mind scape to regain each of the Crystal Gems memories which he succeeds in doing. This would be the end and starts Change Your Mind which could be season 6 or the movie or both. I have a great idea for how it could change especially the ending.

Maybe Steven breakdown could have been his gem starting to crack, being rejected as his mind, making him think that if he wasn’t rose the corruption and shattering of countless gems, lapis running away, bismuth being bubbled for so long and the cluster wouldn’t have happened, so that his mind and body want to get rid of the gem, until he realises that it wasn’t his fault and that he shouldn’t hate himself for something he didn’t do, so that his relatively calm reaction to the revelation of pink diamond true identity could have been explained, and him maturating during the diamond days arc wouldn’t seem so rapid.

If you ask me about the sudden Rush of the Finale of Steven Universe before the Movie, I'll say that it's a representation of the sudden things happening to our lives that we sometimes think that we've taken all day on doing tons of stuff, but in actuality we just did all of them for just a few hours and so and with one of two reasons, boredom or what's showed in here, a goal that's literally at your reach.

I kinda have a love-hate relationship w/ Future. I like the idea of Steven facing his own problems instead of fixing others, but at times it was executed badly. And not to mention the filler they could’ve used to instead tie up more loose ends like they said they would and make the main plotline bigger and better. However, there are the good episodes that actually contribute to the plot, such as Fragments, Little Homeschool, Prickly Pair, etc.

If there one thing I'd want is more greg stuff. Mr. Universe was an episode to show how disenchanted Steven was with his dad, but some more Best Dad greg would be good, Heck I'd like so have seen more of him and Blue since while small he did make a connection with Blue and I feel that could have been used to add more drama. Or heck maybe Greg moving on an finding someone else like pearl did since out of most of the cast he is stuck in the past more than them. Or a episode where the gems have to trust greg and the other residents of beach city to save them from other humans. Like the humans government after the ships and the diamonds arrival they refuse to be silent any longer and move to neutralize the gems, good and bad. Here greg and the town deal with Human things that the gems have no say or way to deal with. forcing them into a position that Greg is all to familiar with and something I feel may bring their friendship with greg to a better place.

I just finished SU Future today, even that left me with a few answers still and I wish there was more to unpack, but I love the representation of PTSD and how sometimes it's just better to accept the past how it was and move on from it, it's something I'm struggling with right now, not because of trauma really but because I had so many nice memories and so many friends that I talked to daily and now we all have our own lives, including me, and the series helped me see that it's okay to have my own self and move on. Funnily enough, I watched SU when it was coming out, so seeing that season, the last one today, it made me feel like I'm also saying bye to those memories of my childhood where I was watching it for the first time before I had a burn out and almost forgot about it. I'm glad I finished it. With all flaws or not or some stuff being unanswered and rushed, I love the show very much.

I always invisioned a set if battles and a war between white-mind controlled gems and the crystal gems and otheres joining up but still split. These are a few groups and battles: Steven, pearl, connie and pearl: The tower battle. (Where a a hideot of them was destroyed blowing them up into the homworlds kindergarden grounds but still fighting wile falling) The Ice coal battle ( a battle in a mine for liquids for injectors where Bismuth and sapphire hid) The Alpha Kindergarden battle (a battle in an ancient kindergarden where old gems were made) I also invisioned an episode where certain new gems were presented. I also invisioned sapphire sefaping from prison while activating her supernova and flying and fighting and walking while creating ive everywere outside. And superova: an ability that made gems more powerfull in their abilities but more fragile causing even shattering after. Like for more

I really wanted to see some sort of fusion with either Lapis, Bismuth or Peridot. And they could have fused with ANY gem! Just to see them do that. I feel like it was a missed opportunity. To do each of them at least once. And maybe they could all three fuse in order to buy one plane ticket to go visit Steven. Cuz they realized that flying across the world or across their nation took too long and also raised a red flag from the nation’s Air Force / government. Ya know? As a bogey. So to go under the radar they just fused for the sake of saving money and avoiding headache. But that’s only if they stayed relative human size. There’s no telling if they were to get as big as alexandrite or as big as garnet. But it would be nice to know.

I definitely think rewriting Season 5 to split off into Season 6 would’ve worked. Especially the needed Emerald arc, A longer Pink Diamond and Wedding arc. The Gems meeting their counterparts on Homeworld, and Steven convincing the Diamonds to be his allies against White Diamond. But Steven’s Identity Arc along with Jasper mentoring him, Pink Pearl vs Pearl, The Famethysts and Rose Buds, Greg’s childhood and The Diamonds New Powers/Reformations would have worked in Future. If they had added 4 more episodes to Future, I would’ve loved to see Bluebird recruit some gems (Holly Blue, Mean Lapis, Emerald and Army Ruby) to fight against Steven having an Ultimate Volleyball tournament of some sorts in one episode. One episode about Lapis, Jasper and Peridot reconciling or at least talking about their abusive pasts. And two extra episodes leading to Steven’s corruption.
