I've read somewhere that the Rakatan plague was genetically engineered by the peoples that the Rakata were oppressing, perhaps the Kwa. Then I've read it was created by the force itself to preserve balance. Either one is a good option but not inexplicable.

Legends went into more history of the Sith and the conflict between Jedi and Sith. Legends also created a Sith Lord who did nothing wrong, I forget his name but I know he appeared in one of the stories with Darth Talon as a way to show that Sith are not fully evil since one Sith Lord only pursued knowledge and when he did die it wasn't from the Jedi or an apprentice, he died in his sleep surrounded by friends and family who didn't know he was a Sith Lord.

Traditionally sith, as in the force users, where something you where born in to. You didn't have to be evil by nature. Many sith fought against the republic to uphold the honor and legacy of their families. The main reason why you would find maybe even good sith was because of the nature of the sith culture.

But I only hist got my hands on the Thrawn trilogy and I am in love. I definately prefer the EU legends compared to the Disney mess. I really wish they would do a Plagueis trilogy of movies. He's such a great character and has an amazing story. The thing I wanna see the most is after Palpatine attacks him in his sleep, it's shown that he knew his apprentice would betray him and that it wasn't actually Plagueis in the bed and instead it was a force illusion. Then the could be a new trilogy to replace the crap we got with Plagueis using his massive fortune to create a new Sith Empire.
