Well, nobody lives in a hole on the backside of the moon, so also Jinjer has influences. Thing with Jinjer is they know patterns of music but everytime you think you know what to expect - they simply change it! Every song of them is like a rollercoaster. Only with a rollercoaster you know where you come out again. 🤣🤘 And no, they fled already 2014 from Donezk when the shit overthere started. But war reached them again in Kiev of course. As ambassadors for Ukraine they were allowed to go on tours. And they have one of the most beautiful an haunting anti-war songs I know: "Home back". Well, I`d say, try it out!

Heads-up they have something releasing on August 1. If it's the new album I'm slightly terrified as the music was mostly composed during and shortly after the seige of Kyiv where the guys were trapped hearing artillery and missile fire incoming constantly. As intense as their usual stuff is, I can't even imagine. YT had been recommending thisto me a LOT. But nothing about "Jinjer"+"Pisces"+low-key thymbnail grabbed my interest and I cynically figured if they were getting recommended there was probably a ton of studio money backing them and they weren't anything I'd be interested in. Haha how wrong I was. Just search and sort by view count and binge them on camera. It's all epic. Subbed. Cheers!

🔥Welcome to Jinjer Stephanie and thank you Rob! I just found your channel, saw your Jinjer reaction and subbed, great reaction! Thank you both for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces in 2019, I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wake up alarm for a few years and I still love it more every time I hear it, snooze is a thing of the past). TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and a mother quoting her four year old wanting to see the "lion lady" again 🤣 All four current members of Jinjer have essentially no formal musical training except Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the last album Wallflowers (next album is done recording, and might have an announcement or release on Aug 1st). Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. Jinjer has been a tour-heavy band, touring almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020 and much of the time since then (with interruptions by covid and the US backed coup/proxy war), hard work that has made them fantastic live performers. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine (Donetsk) in 2008 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see their former guitarist turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, in older videos on guitar and a more recent video (Disclosure) playing an interrogator. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that could do well together in one reaction if you're so inclined). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (I saw your comment that you already reacted to the live at Wacken 2019 performance - thank you!), Teacher Teacher (official is the studio audio with some great footage from several shows), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Thank you! I hope you'll keep trying out more Jinjer songs and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘❤

THANK YOU for your comment. I LOVED reading this. Thank you for getting us caught up on what Jinjer is all about. It's crazy how she had no formal music training. She's such a natural. Every one though is incredible. I didn't just enjoy her singing, but literally everything was perfect. The amount of creativity and subtly they bring... Have you seen them live? It sounds like their lyrics run deep from what you're saying. I love that. We need more of that! I'm making note of the songs you mentioned. Sounds like we found a pure gem!! We're going to check out Teacher Teacher next! We have already recorded Perennial and wow. You'll see it soon!
@dhavaram80643 ай бұрын
I saw an interview with them and Tatiana said she was listening to OTEP when she was younger, and would practice emulating her screams & growls into her pillow. She said that's how she initially learned that skill, but she has since had some more formal training to learn to do her growls in a healthier way that won't harm her vocal cords

I know the band wishes more people would listen to "I Speak Astronomy", and apparently it was the song that resulted the first time Tatiana sat down to write a song about being a Pisces. Then she had another go at it, and wrote the "Pisces" we know. I love both songs, and wish that "I Speak Astronomy" got the attention it deserves.

You're gonna love this band! The more you learn the more you love. They're my favorite band since Rush retired. Every song is not just good, it's wonderful. And as good as their albums are, they're even better live. They're getting ready to tour America in a couple months. I highly recommend you do yourself a huge favor and grab some tickets. They're inexpensive, and may just be a life changer! Aha! You did it! You're gonna be so glad you did that. Get there early, and you can get right up close and have your mind completely blown. Like you, when I learned Jinjer had been around for 12 years before I discovered them, I was kinda mad at myself for having missed out for all those years. Butt they're just getting better and better. This is a great time to be a Jinjer fan. They just dropped a brand new song and video "Someone's Daughter," the first song from the upcoming yet unreleased new album, two days ago. They dropped a new performance/interview video in the Audio Tree "From Nothing" series a couple weeks ago that is pure fire, and a great place to start to get to know the band. Just a couple months ago they released their first official live CD/DVD/Blu-ray, with accompanying live video release. The new album will be out soon. In the meantime they're playing summer festivals in Europe, then touring North America with Hanabie, where they'll debut new unreleased songs. Then back to Europe to tour with Sepultura. So much Jinjer! All of it awesome! They're a very rewarding band to get into. Enjoy the rabbit hole!

Stephanie's excited - I love it! For a brief, interesting and entertaining crash-course on Jinjer through the band's own words and live studio performances of 3 great tracks from their 2021 Wallflowers album ("Vortex", "Wallflower" and "Dead Hands Feel No Pain"), check out Audiotree | From Nothing. The live performances are *awesome,* and their discussions give you a good sense of their history, relationships with each other and their attitudes about their art. They made this video to showcase their new drummer (Vladi) at the time, but Tatiana's vocals always grab people first. All of them are such talented musicians. They are so skilled technically and have amazing artistry as well. They are so good live! I saw them last summer at a small venue in the Pittsburgh, PA area. I ended up right in front of the stage in the pit even though I'm in my 50s. They were so unbelievably good, I just couldnt help myself. They all kick ass and Tati is so fierce!!! Tatiana's voice is fantastic, but there are several fantastic women vocalists that can growl with the best of them. Listen to Arch Enemy with their singer Alissa White-Gluz. Their song, Handshake with Hell would be a good place to start. The other suggestion is Melissa Bonny in Ad Infinitum. A good starting song is Upside Down. By the way, Floor Jansen can also growl.
