Omg thank you so much for breaking this down for me cause I was so confused. My mom passed away in 2020 and I been struggling with thoughts of never seeing her again and my faith has been battling the enemy since then with voices telling me that I wasted my time believing in someone that is not real and I lost my mom forever. So I been having untruthful thoughts that maybe there is a second life we go to and that’s why God said let the dead bury their dead. Just still battling these false thoughts and trying to remove them from my head whenever they enter my head. The main difference between the two people Jesus was speaking to is that one was a SCRIBE and the other a DISCIPLE. Scribe didn't make any commitment yet. So Jesus asked him to reflect on the cost he has to pay to follow Him. Second was a disciple, who already knew the cost when he made a commitment to follow Him. But now he wants to take time n go settle all his family business n come back. So Jesus asked him to allow his spiritually dead thoughts to bury themselves n just continue to follow him.

See what I don’t like is these teachers saying, this isn’t what Jesus meant, but then says I don’t think this is what He meant, and then says this is what he meant. Jesus was on a mission, and if you was going to ride on that mission then LET THE DEAD BURY THE DEAD, I mean come ON, can you imagine Jesus at a funeral grieving? His weeping for his friend was fleshly and it was real, but His main focus was heaven and the Fathers will. I feel like regardless of the state of the father's mortality, the implication is to leave the spiritually dead to bury the physically dead and follow him because he heard the call, whether the delay is 1 hour or 1 year or longer matters not. He says if you seek him, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart, that means you have to look for him by forming a personal relationship through interpreting his word, conversations with other believers, and asking God if your understanding is in alignment with Jesus teachings. He's not always in the church. During his ministry, he was out in the world but not being of the world, Jesus didn't have a physical church building, he had no home, he had no money, he had his feet and his voice that were made available to those who heard and understood him. I'd venture that most churches are run by false teachers these days. Don't forget to test the spirits of the people you're listening to. So many churches are run by charisma, prosperity teachings, that teach people to treat Jesus as a personal genie, and theology that tells you how to understand what you're reading based on someone else's understanding of what they've read. Jesus didn't do that. He spoke in parables leaving the crowds to interpret their own meanings. Some understood selflessly, others selfishly and still others not at all. Jesus walked away when his teachings fell on deaf ears. When is the last sermon you heard that seemed unscripted? If they were speaking through the spirit, they wouldn't need a script because the spirit will provide you what to say. There would be a genuine passion or revelation in their words. A personal relationship with Christ is only found in the bible and through meditation, prayer, and fasting. Draw close to him and he will draw close to you.

Being a biological sibling means nothing to me if you don't love and follow the Lord. My father just died. He was abusive and manipulative and he traumatized my entire family. I forgive him and harbor no resentment or negative feelings toward him. But I will not attend his funeral and honor his life of shame and disdain for God. Let the dead bury the dead. I know there are many different bibles..each a different version. With different words/translations..I did find one where it didnt say hate your father mother..but I cant find it again. I should of saved it. But I know the meaning if was to Love God more than any human. Period..since only God/Jesus can save Us. GOD/Jesus can only love us 100% no strings attached.

There being, there consciousness may not be there..God may have took it back home..or God did not put one there in the first place. But that is only a theory based on Astro projection.. My own thoughts: 1. I've been hearing this story since I was a kid...I'm now 51. 2. When I was a child, I wondered why Jesus was being "mean". Seems kind of a jerky thing to do, but we know Jesus was perfect, so I was conflicted. I mean what was the big deal. Let the guy go to his dad's funeral on Monday, and join Jesus et al on Tuesday, right? 3. We look at this story via Western eyes. But think about it: What if the guy's dad wasn't dead yet? What if "let me bury him first" meant waiting another 1, 5, 10 years or more? What if this guy was blowing Jesus off? Kind of like saying...maybe later Jesus, OK? 4. I don't have the link, but I heard a Messianic Jew give an opinion on this passage. He stated that the Jewish culture of the time had tradition. When your family member died, you put them in a tomb. You'd wait one year, take them out of the tomb and bury them. So, what if this guy's dad just died say a day or two earlier, and the guy was asking for a 1 year deferral? 5. While the above is all theory, here's what I do know...I don't know.
