You chose it, now what is it ? We reveal what we bought and why as we begin a series of how to get a tractor to a reliable running condition for a sensible price.
So what did we buy ?

Cracking little tractor, I remember driving one with a set of gang mowers as a lad. It was left for dead at the local cricket club and bought by my uncle, now used to drive a home made log splitter 👍

Not everyones cup of tea but still a great little tractor. Really enjoyed that vid. Started dating herself nearly 5 years ago and was being introduced to her parents and her dad could see straight away I was a country boy and liked my toys. Within 5 minutes of meeting him we were out in the shed chatting about this and that, BUT in the corner was this 4 cylinder tef, stripped down to nearly the last bolt, parts everywhere. Interest caught me and asked about it. It was sitting there in the corner stripped like that for nearly 30 years ENGINE NEAR SIZED and he said, sometime ill get that going. And I was laughing in my head sayin ya that'll never see the light of day again. Well following winter he got the motivation and began by pouring kerosene and waste oil mix into cylinders every evening and giving it a very slight turn on the pully, repeated process for several weeks untill he got the full roatation freely. Put her all back together and painted her up. That tractor will start hail rain snow or frost now. Gave him an old transport box I had and he flys around on it doing on jobs. Real credit to him. Ford 3000, like my massys but a ford man at heart 👍

Brings back happy memories of my TEF20 tractor restoration in 1987. First engine I stripped & rebuilt, started & ran lovely. Only thing was it had the Standard car exhaust manifold, so the vertical exhaust wasn't vertical. Keep up the great vid's Sir.

I have a tea50 ferguson and I'm amazed how similar the petrol model is to the diesel. On mine where the aux tank and starter fluid tank is my battery is there. When I got mine the thermostat housing was so corroded it had been leaking onto the rocker cover and rotted that out too. Got it cheap because it would only run for a few minutes and then die. The fuel tap was so clogged because the pre filter was missing

Only the interior decorator kind of barstool mechanic would claim that washing something makes it run better. Fix it first, wash it later. Make it go before you bother to show. Otherwise you've still got nothing but a better looking lawn ornament. Great vid, as usual Kurt. I'd have to vote for the Ford 3000 next.

I used to drive a diesel 20 when I a kid and occasionally got to drive the MF35 which had the 3 cylinder engine and was awesome. I managed to get my self a MF35x a couple of years ago and it is really awesome. When it comes to sniff farmers always said ‘don’t use easy start or it will always need it to start’ but its like no! it just needs it to start because its rubbish when its cold. PS l like the video clips you pop in there, stuff the whining wallies I say. ;-)

Had a 35 TVO with the 4 cylinder 87mm. What a massive piece of shite that thing was. Had it for four years and it never ran right, replaced the head gasket, rebuilt the carb and replaced all the gaskets that could allow a vacuum leak. Replaced the timing chain, fitted electronic ignition to get rid of those pesky points. And much more.... Still ran like shit so it was sold.

I laughed when you talked about washing before you know if will run. I know people that constantly wash and detail their stuff. Went to look at a pickup truck a few years ago the guy advertised it was well looked after after looking at it for awhile the guy had towels on his carpet he tells me its to keep the carpet clean yup carpet looks brand new look under truck floor rusted out probably from shampooing the carpet and not drying it out truck was dented allover paint peeled off from holding pressure washer to close rust holes wires were a mess all butchered the truck was really a piece of crap but it was clean but damm that carpet was like new. So my understanding is doesn't matter how bad the vehicle may be but that clean carpet must be a selling feature. In my opinion if said vehicle has comfy seats and carpet i kinda like to enjoy the comfort before vehicle is worn out. Correct me if I'm wrong but why would anyone cover that stuff up except for service procedures and now at the end of vehicle's life vehicle dead but damm look at that carpet and seats ROFLMFAO 💩💩💩🤣😂🤣😂👍👍

Since I'm a Ford fan, I pick the Ford. My grandfather had a Ferguson, the gas (petrol) engine. I believe it was the Continental. My dad then inherited it and recently sold it. Unfortunately the rust started taking over, but it was still a good tractor. The engine running sounded like a WW1 biplane. 😄

Normally I would say close enough on a machine, that one you just worked on seems to have a decent paint job and could use a bit of a rub and think it would shine like a pretty girls smile. Only reason I mention it is one of the condition looks nice from five thousand miles away... maybe some bruises on the grill but fixable and second when nice like that, operators tend to be a little nicer to it as others just get what they get is respect for them. Looks good enough to me to get shelter in the winters left in that tractors life and let it die a bit more respectfully ... just a comment and nothing more. I happen to like those tractors as well and just looks tired from not maintenanced

Good vid, interesting idea to go with something relatively simple. Like the start intro, although there was a second when the Ford 8830 appeared that it gave a very George Saunders deja vu moment. Well that is a hard choice as most of your subscribers are opting for the Ford but I think 🤔 that the John Deere with the hydraulic front wheel assist would be a better choice as it doesn’t have any doors on plus the last you want is a wet bum from the seat 💺, that little fergie runs a treat now, now that you and your glamorous assistant have cleaned out the fuel system and by keeping this one as it came from the factory is a truly inspired idea. You know don’t you just hate that group of people called they cos they are a bunch of nutters with nothing else better to do than interfere in what other people like your good self are doing and if they don’t like it then they can go and bury the heads in the sand !.

I cut my farming teeth on a Fergie 20, it had rear wheels from a 165 on it, and would pull two loaded trailers. At 15 I thought I was the DBs, roaring up the main A22 with two loads of straw behind.
