The woman at 1:43 doesn't seem so well informed. Still a lot of poverty and unemployment in Germany? Huh? That says someone from the U.S.?
@MarvinNeumannOfficial8 жыл бұрын
+Sebastian Urbas Hello Sebastian, well as much as I would love it that Germany would be a perfect country it is far from it. The unemployment rate is pretty much equal to the one in the US (Germany: 4,2℅ (2016)! USA: 4,9℅). Additionally roughly 15℅ of all Germans live in poverty. Kind regards, Marvin
@sebastianurbas76998 жыл бұрын
Germany is far from perfect and no country will ever be perfect. There is always something than can be improved. Nothing will ever be really perfect. The unemployment rate in Germany was never so low in the last 25 years. It's unlikely that the rate can fall even significant lower. Even more important employment is very high. All that was back in 2005 almost unthinkable. Compared to the U.S. being unemployed in Germany is in my opinion far less a burden than it is in the U.S. These relative poverty rates are in my opinion not very meaningful. Even when Germany and the U.S. had the same poverty rate, being poor in Germany seems less serious for the individuals. The national poverty threshold in the U.S. for a family of four is about $24,000. That is in my opinion for many regions in the U.S. far too low. Especially for the U.S. with its huge differences in cost of living a national poverty threshold doesn't make sense. Our sister city Fitchburg (MA) has reportedly a median household income of about $47,000 and a poverty rate of about 19-20%. Compared to my pretty average hometown in Germany, Fitchburg is an extremely poor place. Much poorer than those figures for median income or poverty rates suggest.

OceanBlue oh shut up. Are you so stubborn as to say that America is the sole reason the allies won the war. You are so patriotic you can't even fathom that another country may have contributed massively.
@tripsaplenty12277 жыл бұрын
+OceanBlue Allow this American to educate you. Alliances work because every nation involved contributes. The UK was never going to be invaded. Germany did not have the naval resources to invade. The UK defeated the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain. If anyone should be thankful it is the French. Their Great War hero, the Lion of Verdun, Phillipe Petain turned collaborator and they surrendered in a month. They were liberated years later by the Allies. Foremost among the Allies were the UK and USA. However the western Allies may never have been able to defeat the Nazi war machine without the USSR. Hitler was an idiot without a strategic bone in his body and invaded Russia. Yes the Germans killed a lot of Soviets but 85% of German casualties during the war were sustained on the Eastern Front. The nation that contributed the most was undoubtedly the Soviet Union. In the immediate aftermath of Operation Barbarossa the Soviet Union did receive much needed equipment and supplies from the United States, but they quickly reorganized their factories behind the Ural Mountains and were producing everything they needed to stay in the battle. In Asia the United States did play the largest role in defeating the Empire of Japan but were not alone. The UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and China, among others, were in the battle. Obviously the British dominion was more concerned with Europe and most of their resources were devoted to defeating Germany. China was at war with Japan on and off from 1931-1937 and engaged in a total war starting in 1937. The United States did provide much needed military hardware and resources to China but it was millions of Chinese soldiers who carried those weapons. Japan was a much easier enemy to dispatch than Germany. The only reason the Japanese may have been able to defeat New Zealand or Australia is their fighting men were already in the battle in Europe and North Africa. While they were locked in continuing the fight against Germany the United States could devote more of its military resources to the war in the Pacific.

its not that people don't have the same income to be able to travel to Germany, its that they have different priorities. For example, home and vehicle ownership are seen as more important than travel. Another factor is that its much easier(and cheaper usually) to stay in the USA since it is literally the size of Europe and offers so many different environments.

After that you have to see how the general price level, etc. Whats about health insurance and so on.

Trump is so full of shit we've tried what he proposed already and it didn't work. What a moron. If she thinks that there is poverty and unemployment in Germany (which there is and not as few as one might want), then that's answering the question. I've lived in Paderborn in Nordrein Westfallen since january '14 stationed with the british army. My girlfriend is german and my best friend in the army's girlfriend is also german. I love the country, I love the culture and the family orientated attitude to life which has been lost in much of England. I love the organisation of things and how tidy the streets always are. I've been all over the country and I love the architecture, both the older red roofed style and the next contrasting white with black roofs. I love the autobahn when it's not too busy and I love their love for meats and it's place within food. However, having come from england I don't love their road manors (not thanking you after you let them go first) which is a very British thing to do, and even now after nearly 3 years my girlfriend has to remind me I'm not in England and nearly no one does that in Germany! Zac Miller Every institutions here like schools and so on have to teach about all that shit that has happened. And they don't only do that, but also tell us why they do it. We don't try to forget Hitler and the awful things that happened under his government. Instead we talk about it a lot and discuss the reasons why it all happened in the first place. If we didn't, we wouldn't be able to prevent such a think from happening again. The only thing that is annoying about being German in relation to the past is that Nazis and Holocaust and so on often are the first thing that comes to mind for other people from other countries. They still "hate" or at least kinda mock us for a thing that only like 20% of our population even witnessed. Conclusion: It is not hard to forget all that stuff because we don't want to forget it. It is just annoying that a lot of people still have these wrong prejudices and "put you into a box" (but I think there's a thing like that for every country :D)

As an American who has been to Germany and dated a German man (and we still keep in touch), I can say that the stereotypes are alive and well on both sides of the Atlantic. Germans, generally, have a really negative view about America, and do have a superiority complex. Many Americans don't know much about modern Germany because it's not a top travel destination. Most people I know choose to travel to France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, etc, because it is well known among informed Americans that the Germans have a lot of disdain for us. It's sad, really, because I like Germany, and the Germans I've come to know personally are lovely people. But, I am tired of the ignorant "All Americans are fat, uneducated, and carry guns" nonsense. I wonder if the Germans making those comments have actually been to America and gotten to know Americans well. My guess is, probably not. In my view, our countries have far more in common than we do differences. Love your videos! Thanks for being open minded.

It's perfectly natural for people of any country to think that the morals and values they grew up with are the best. I've spent about 3 months in the US so far, and I've found that most of the stereotypes seen in American TV shows, that I'd written off as "too stupid to be true" are actually real people over there. Instead of having a negative view of American culture BEFORE going there, I gained my negative opinion while experiencing it first hand. That's not saying that German culture is better in every way (obviously), but I do prefer most of it.

according to some actual accounts during ww1, supposedly there was an american soldier who had actually had the opportunity to kill Hitler. according to him, he hesitated, and let him escape. and of course if fate would have had a different path designed for Hitler, and gotten killed right there, the whole world would look totally different today! so, in a sense Hitler had something to do with ww1, or should we blame that soldier who didn't kill him? that's destiny at its most complex design for you!
@spicyjimbo36057 жыл бұрын
Actually it was a British soldier not an american. Also France and Britain are kinda the reason why Hilter came to power. When the Versailles Treaty was being written our president Woodrow Wilson wanted to make the surrender treaty off of his 14 points. www.u-s-history.com/pages/h1324.html Here it is if you want to read it However the French and Britain wanted Germany to pay so they threw out the idea of it and made what has become known of the Versailles Treaty which would completely destroy the German economy and military. The Germans where forced to sign this though cause Britain and France said if they didn't they continue the war and would would destroy Germany. This treaty caused germans to make an organization called National Socialist German Workers' Party which was turned into what is now the Nazi pary.
@catlover19867 жыл бұрын
It's true, the US bears no responsibility, but Britain and France are as guilty as Germany in bringing the Nazis to power, through their own ruthlessness. That's why the US ordered the phased dissolution of the British and French Empires at the end of World War 2, in exchange for protection of Europe from the Soviet Union. We made it perfectly clear that we viewed the British and French as criminals alongside the Nazis.

You have to look at the USA like Europe. If you ask the same questions in different countries in Europe, you will get different views. The north and the south are completely different in the US and even so in each state. Immigrants that came to the US brought their influences to different parts. I have German in my blood through my dads side. I believe I get my Alpha qualities from his side of the family. We are all head strong and driven. American views are so diverse and depends on where and who you ask the question. I think the general view of Americas feelings of other countries is mostly positive. That doesn't stand true for the middle east and Islamic Countries. It may be an unfair stereotype but people are scared of what they are not sure of. One can understand the hesitancy to accept immigrants that believes Sharia Law to be supreme. In my opinion, countries should vet immigrants that do not accept the countries values.

You were surprised because you see it from the German perspective and many Germans (but not you) have, unfortunately, a negative view of Americans, so you expected Americans to think the same of Germans. :D

Unemployment! We’re the country that gives 700€ to the people that have difficulty finding work. And that doesn’t happen at all.Even an awesome education is garunted.We also have no cleaning staff,because it’s a bad work compared to others.the only homeless are the non German citizens.
@mozardthebest6 жыл бұрын
Christian Iding The US does that too. Look up the TANF act. In summary, it exists to offer financial assistance to poor, out of work Americans.

hey guys did you know that classic american food is actually german? The hamburger, hotdog, chicken nuggets, texan bbq, and egg noodles are all examples. (there are healthier ones too)
@tnaplastic21827 жыл бұрын
It's not only that... It is the Mp3, Jeans, Pens, digital computer, the binary-code, all kinds of audio and video-recording-technologies, solar cells and so on... Even the 'manhole-cover' which was kind of a symbol of NYC in the 80 and 90... It would be too much to name all stuff, which actually is German were so many people worldwide think it is from the US and was invented there...
@auctoris15367 жыл бұрын

Bavaria is in Germany, but has its own habits. Dirndl and lederhosn for example are worn in Bavaria and Austria and NOT in the rest of Germany..
@tnaplastic21827 жыл бұрын
Nina Ristic You are missing to distinguish between northern-bavarians (Franken) and southern Bavarians... 😀 ...and (southern) Bavarians are only half German, half alien...
